Hey you guys, I normally never do blogs or anything but I just needed some help choosing a topic for my research essay I have coming up. I need to choose something that I could argue strongly for, either against or for it. These are the controversial topics that I was given from my teacher. If you think one of these would be a good topic, please comment and give me maybe an example of why it's either "good' or why it's "bad"

Bold = I have some ideas for it.

Italicized = I can probably argue for or against easily.

Normal = I don't know too much about this topic.

I think homoual rights would be a better topic than same- marriage(just saying it is a new pov with arguable points)
this is a good topic because you can research things such as poverty levels in the homoual community(focusing on the Castro district of SF), homelessness w/lgbtqap teens etc etc
just a cool POV to consider

Oh man I hope I'm not too late for this!
Racism and same- marriage are good topics, but I would assume a lot of people are going to discuss this. Gun control is also good, and there are a lot of things you can argue against. I would personally go for violent video games just because there are so much articles about the topic (I had to research it for a "debate", and my best friend chose this as her senior paper topic). Prayer in school would be tough unless you're all about integrating religion in school, OR utterly against it. Capital punishment is an extremely good topic, especially since we live in Cali. There is a lot to be said about it.
So basically I don't think I helped at all OTL.
I dunno how your teacher is, but I would play Devil's advocate for this. However, as the person said below me, same- marriage IS fairly easy, although the cons have slowly been deteriorating with the discovery that the "gay gene" is actually a modification in our DNA and only appears when the human population is getting ahead of itself.

Drug legalization is also a hot topic, particularly in Cali (or I guess just because I've been surrounded by it because college OTL). Pros could be the medicine use of it- has healing properties and is considered an herb. Cons could be abusing the right to use drugs for medical purposes as some people would use it to get high.

I feel like same- marriage is the easiest, in my opinion.. there's a bunch of pros and cons for it. And from that, you can support or fight against it c:
