It was the third time in a week that Jongin fell asleep as he waited for his husband to come home. But as always he had never able to sleep restfully until a familiar scent suddenly filled his nostril. Held his breath he waited until a hand sneaked on his waist, almost ghostly as if the owner afraid he would annoy Jongin if he did that.
Jongin shook his head in wonder. They had been a couple for more than a year and married for at least half of it. Sehun should know what it meant for him to get in such close proximity. If there was someone who wanted them to always be together, that would be Jongin.
After some minute, he could hear the steady breathing patterns of the slightly younger man. Smiling, he turned around to face his sleeping angel. Stroking the perfect cheekbone, he stared at his soulmate-slash-bestfriend intently. This was the reason why Jongin was always waiting until Sehun asleep, if not his beautiful husband might be worried because he was still awake when the latter sneaking into their bed.
It hurted him a lot to see his baby's tired face, but at the same time he understood that Sehun needed that to prove himself as an equal partner of their relationship. Jongin had never had any other thought but that they were equal in this. That Sehun was his yin as he was the younger's yang (or whatever was that, according to Tao and Kris). That his heart was actually was beating only if it's other half beating on Sehun's chest.
Jongin brushed the strands of hair that fell on Sehun’s eyes, accidentally touched the scar on his right jaw. The older closed his eyes for a while, remembered the pain that Sehun felt when he got that scar, remembered the pain he felt when he saw the younger’s flawless beautiful face was smeared with blood.
He was mad that day and he knew he could kill someone for hurting Sehun like that. But the younger was hugging him hard that day, told him that he would do anything to save Jongin. Then he told Sehun back that there was no way Jongin could live without Sehun in this world.
He was not lying. Jongin always needed Sehun because he could not picturing himself as a whole without the presence of the younger.
Smiling softly as he felt Sehun stirred a bit in his sleep, he slipped the younger's hair behind his ear, kissed his cute little nose and the corner of his pouty lips, then pulled him even closer.
Seconds later, the two were sleeping soundlessly, contented that they still have each other.
