I love basketball. I always play basketball in my (elective, not required, taken by choice) gym class when there is a choice of what we can play. But on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we play the sport of whatever unit we're currently. So I only play Tuesdays and Thursdays mainly.
But we're starting the basketball unit and my gym coach took six guys 'randomly' to choose who would be on what team for duration the basketball unit.
I and the girls usually play against each other. It's a lot harder for us to do anything against the guys, not because we're not good enough, but because we're intimated by them and they usually don't pass to the girls anyway. Plus there's only 7 girls total in my class (and that's actually a really high number most classes have 1-3 girls since most girls take weight training or women's weight training instead of an actual gym class) and about 35-45 or so guys.
Those 6 guys that were randomly chosen were just in the back of the gym with the coach watching about a game going on, other guys shooting hoops, other guys playing bump, and then us girls playing a game. I think they were fighting and discussing who would go on whose team. I'm surprisingly on the most athletic, and not to mention most annoying, guy's(Fidel) team. He must have seen me shoot some hoops during the game. Plus I'm the most enthusiastic girl when it comes to playing basketball over the other sports. I'm probably the second or third best shot from the girls. I’m honestly surprised I'm on Fidel's team since he got to choose who was on his team. He was mimicking my laugh at the beginning of class the same day, and then I glared directly at his eyes for a few long moments. We’re not exactly on good terms, since he’s always mimicking/mocking me.
I’m worried; tomorrow we’re officially starting the basketball unit. I’m kind of glad he’s on my team since he’s so good at every sport, but I’m also scared cuz the rude guy who is the best basketball player is not on my team so that means I might be going against him some time soon. On the bright side I have this really kind girl also on my team; she’s a pretty good shot too, about as good as me or better. It’s just I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to stand Fidel’s mocking and idiocy for the next few weeks. I hope he doesn’t ruin the sport for me.
Plus I think Fidel took a risk by putting me on his team, my wrist is still in wrist support and since basketball requires me to use my wrist it’s harder to flex my wrist while wearing the support and makes the basketball spin to the side more or put too much of a spin on the ball more often than usual cauising me to miss some shots that I would have otherwise gotten. And my wrist starts to hurt if I play for an extended amount of time.
Skdjfaskldjf sorry this is mainly a rant post. But it’d be uber nice if you can comment, relate, or give me some advice, and maybe some stories :3
