❝ Scandalous, Library
It didn't take a detective to determine where Seul's friend Hayi had been coddling herself into. She assumed anyone who knew the female would know that the library was her place of solitude, a place where she can bury her intellectual mind into. Not that she wasn't smart already, she was brilliant. Seul was sure that if Einstein were to be alive that he would be jealous. The thought brings a smile to her face absentmindedly, her lips forming a wide grin as she peers over from one shelve after the other. Silly, she tells herself silently.
How silly.
As she passes from one isle to another she feels the smile on her lips fading. It turns into a slight frown when she's unable to find the friend. However, she stops abruptly and takes a few steps back, a smile draws onto her lips although she tries her best to hold it back. Hold it back dammit, she warns herself as she tries to keep a straight face - one of which donned an 'angry' look. She isn't entirely aware whether her futile attempts to look mad is working or has worked but regardless she rests her fists onto her waists and says in a loud whisper: "How deep in the Library are you gonna go missy?"
The young female turned around, a small gasp escaping her pink rosy lips, feeling familiar hands on her waist. Glancing down to examine the hands on her waist, Hayi was able to determine the person that these hands belonged to - her only friend, Seul. Seul was the only one that actually attempted to talk Hayi, and attempted to remove her from the library which she literally spent her time. Hayi actually liked Seul's company, because she was the complete opposite of herself - she was lively, charming and funny, whereas Hayi was boring and spent most of her time doing her work. She wondered why Seul even spoke to her.
The female felt her cheeks warm up, the blood rushing straight to them, and tainting her cheeks to a dark shade of pink. Her heart raced fast against her chest as she slowly peered over he shoulder to examine the person that was behind her. Hayi turned around immediately as soon as the female spoke, placing her finger on the female's lips to stop her from talking since this was a library. Hayi wasn't the type of person to disobey - she was quite afraid of consequences and repercussions. The young feamle always tired to be the best at school, always receiving the best grades, and positive comments from all of the teachers, not only to make her father proud but so she wasn't represented as a rebel in the media. Hayi remembered when the media twisted her words to make her sound like an evil child, her father wasn't happy and she ignored her presence for a couple of months. The young female didn't want to go through the same situation again. She shook her head slowly, removing her finger lips.
"You have to be quiet, I.. I don't want to get in trouble." Pausing a little bit, just staring at the older female.
The young female took a step back, and turned around picking up her books from the floor. "Don't you have a lesson? Shouldn't you be revising, I mean exams are coming up, so you should be revising constantly. I could help you if you're stuck on anything." It was time to go to school, though she was going to take the opportunity to use the library at school since it was open for longer. She enjoyed being at the library because the paparazzi wouldn't be able to enter the premises. She felt safe here, and around Seul.
Seul's face contorts, skin creasing on her forehead, her head tilting to the side when she feels a finger pressed onto her lips preventing her to talk for only a second. Not that she intends to, she's too preoccupied being flustered at the friend's action. Seul was sure that even that action would be something Hayi considered 'bad', 'against the rules', 'ill-mannered', so of course she couldn't help but take it in. Let the bold action sink in, per se.
She parts her lips to speak but fails to let the words escape her lips when a soft giggle replaces it instead. "Don't be silly Hayi."
"You won't get in trouble." It was a promise she couldn't own up to only because she knew how strict Hayi's parents were and anything and everything was considered wrong to them unless it steps up to their expectations. Seul doesn't know them personally, but from what she's heard after all the stories Hayi had shared her, that's how they were. She wouldn't be surprised if they told Seul to stay clear from Hayi's life - And that, Seul had assume, was the reason to why people were so afraid of talking to Hayi. She was confined behind a wall of thorns.
"I already studied," She sighs. "If I study any more I'll forget everything I've learned and will have to study from all the way to square one."
Her shoulders slumps low at the thought, she hated studying and it was fair to say studies hated her as well especially with her undying curiosity. She never seem to be content with just the given information and often pries for more information. Information of which most professors don't necessarily have the answers to. Luckily however, she has her friend Hayi to give her a logical theory to answer all the questions she often has.
The young female stared her finger in shock. It was a suprise because Hayi wasn't the type of person touch bed. She bowed down in front of Seul to apologize for my rudeness. "I'm.. I'm sorry. I.. Didn't mean to be so rude."
"I.. I will, you remember the last time." Hayi remembered that day clearly, the first day that she received a sanction from one of the teachers for speaking out of turn in a class when she was by Seul. She wasn't blaming Seul, for her mistake. It was just that Seul had a different affect on Hayi, which made her behave differently. This change of character has both it's positives and negatives, but the negatives beat the negatives. Giving Lee Hayi many reasons to not hang around with her, however Hayi wasn't capable of destroying their friendship.
The young female chuckled and nodded a few times. Understanding Seul completely, everyone had their own way of revising, though Les Hary revised every day as much as possible to bs the best, even though becoming the best wasn't her dream. Her dream was to own a small flower shop in the suburbs, though her parents, especially her father would not approve of such business.
"Are you staying? You don't have to wait for me. I don't want to keep you back when you could be with your other friends. I mean.. I'm boring, so I think you're.. you're better off with them." Hayi chuckled at herself, slowly approaching the white table in the library. The young female was the type of person which lowered herself, and made herself seem like a fun for slight self motivation in order to become better.
She took a seat on the chair furtherest away from the window as it was pouring with rain. She didn't enjoy listening to the rain, because if the agonizing fear of thunder and lightning. There was no explanation to the reason why she disliked thunder and lighting. She hadn't told anyone about this fear, not even Seul. She was trying to be brave in front of Seul not wanting her to think she was a weakling, though her hands and feet were being to sweet from anxiety and fear.
Seul hated to admit it to remembering the cold memory but the pain Hayi's face expressed pained her just as much. She nods softly and presses her lips tight as if afraid to speak. Seul could tell that her consistently pestering Hayi to have fun hasn't really taken effect and only results to Hayi being put under tremendous stress. I mean, she knew Hayi would kill to let loose and have fun, to untie her hair and just let go of the constant 'prim and proper' demeanor without the media putting a spotlight to it. Seul could see it in her eyes, just behind all the pain and constriction that could be seen if you look directly at Hayi's eyes.
"I don't even have other friends Hayi." She corrects the female, taking a seat next to her with a soft sigh. It was true, it had been so difficult finding friends in the academy partly because her social class. She wasn't some daughter of some fancy businessman or a rich celebrity, she was Seul - the mundane who happened to like the extremely well funded curriculums in the school. Once she's settled in her seat, she sits up slightly and pulls her messenger bag off of her placing it onto the table as if out of habit. The bag emits a small thud once it's rested onto the table, followed after is another thud. This time however it was from the female's elbows.
She rests her weight onto her elbows as it props up against the table, her chin resting comfortably on her palm as she eyes the friend in front of her. "Don't you want me around?" Seul asks expressionless at first but a smile that seem to conceal a frown appears onto her lips. There she was again, making it difficult for Hayi, pulling at her wits just so she finds closure. Seul was so unfair. So selfish.
The young female frowned a little bit, her eyebrows furrowing on her forehead when she heard her friend's words. How could she not have any friends, but yet hang around Hayi? She was nothing special, and there were certainly better people that Seul could hang around with. Seul was so much better than Hayi in so many ways, that she was quite envious. She had a beautiful figure, while Hayi had some nasty curves, and flab that she would like to get rid of. The media even commented on how much weight she gain, which made her feel even worse about herself. Lee Hayi wasn't a confident person, and by her weight being commented by thousands of people - it gave a really big blow. Seul could do anything she wanted to do, without walls blocking her from doing so.
"Well, you should have so many friends. You shouldn't be.. be hanging around me that's for sure. You're so much better than me, that.. that I'm envious of you. I wish I was you." Hayi muttered audible without thinking. Realizing what she said after a couple of minutes of silence, she felt her cheeks warm up as they tainted to a dark shad of pink. "I.. I mean.. that.. it... I.." She stammered, trying to get anything out but she couldn't.
Flinching at the sound of the thud, the young female gazed out of the window, just watching the droplets fall harder than before on the window. The girl was frightened, but she wouldn't admit it to anyone - only her parents knew about this phobia of the rain, thunder and lighting. Her father believed that she was just faking it to get attention from them, however she wasn't. She was absolutely terrified.
The young female blinked a couple of times, placing her pen down before turning her attention to the unhappy female beside her. She shook her head, whilst waving her hands around. "Of c-course I.. I do. I didn't mean it l.. like that. I just thought you'd have something else to.. since I'm not very.. outgoing like you are." Hayi bit down on her lower lip, contemplating on whether she would explain herself further. The female felt slightly guilty for saying the wrong things to her only friend, she bowed her head a little apologizing with her gestures.
"If-if I don't revise for one day, I don't think it's going to make a big difference. So, it would be okay for us to.. hang out today."
Lee Hayi smiled but deep down, she could feel her heart tearing, at the thought of her father catching her misbehaving. It was a fake smile, a smile that she knew how to put on very well. She closed her books, and placed them all in her bag. "What would y-you like to do then? Nothing that would yet us in trouble though, a.. alright?"
The young female wasn't too sure about neglecting her studies, knowing that people would be watching her from ever corner wanting her to mess up, so they could portray her as a bad person. She was afraid of being ignored by her father, because of her misbehavior. Being one of the most famous bussinessman in the world, it was understandable to treat Hayi that way; she had to understand that they were different from the others, and that's why she was restricted to doing so many stuff.
Hayi stood up from her seat, putting on her backpack, with a soft smile on her face, waiting for other to do the same. She didn't know where they would hang out if it was miserable day.
Almost as if uninterested, Seul turns her attention back to the friend and shakes her head. "You shouldn't." Her words turns cold when the friend has the audacity to be jealous of her, how could she ever want to be like Seul when she was perfect as is. Her cold demeanor was only momentarily, soon she flashes Hayi a smile and jokingly replies her with: "If you were like me, you probably would still act like yourself."
She hadn't meant the words to be hurtful and hopefully Hayi knew that. Seul know that Hayi, regardless what body she was in would constantly put herself down. That was the only difference the two had. Seul was optimistic and Hayi was a pessimist. Seul brings her bag closer and pulls out a small pack of granola. She peels the plastic covering as discreetly as possible to avoid the nagging Librarian to scold her for eating in premises which prohibited any consumption of food and furrows her brows at the female's words despite her attention not fully on Hayi. She'd at least hear enough to understand that the friend is either going insane or is not in the full state of mind to think clearly.
"What are you talking about?"
Seul watched as her friend collects her stuff from the table, gathering what belonged to her as if she was serious. Was she serious? Confused, Seul takes another bite of her food and looks intently at the friend, watching her as if her subtle antics would allow Seul to depict what exactly was going on. Maybe it was a prank, maybe it was Hayi's way of getting rid of Seul, or maybe it was a test. A test over their friendship?
"Hayi, What are you doing right now?"
Shocked by the cold expression on Seul's face, Hayi lowers her head, and in her lower lip, biting it harshly to stop it from trembling. Hayi listens to her friend's words. The young female slowly releases her lower lip, and shakes her head. "I wouldn't. You don't have the parents I do, so if I was you, I'd be happy." Hayi says simply, turning her head away from the other.
Hayi stays quiet, her eyes fluttering close, as she brought her hand to her forehead so she could rub away the creases there. Hayi was stressed out, she couldn't even think clearly. She couldn't do anything properly, she couldn't express her feelings the way she wanted to, and she couldn't even make her only friend happy. She had too much on her plate, and it was making her depressed. She wanted to cry out for help before she became completely insane, because if this stress continued further, Lee Hayi would definitely commit suicide.
"Well, you came to me for a reason, didn't you? And that reason was to hang out, right? Well, we can't hang around here in a place that disallows talking. So, I thought you wanted to go somewhere else."
"I'm waiting for you, so.. so we can hang out together, isn't that what you wanted too? I mean, that.. that's the reason that you came here, right?" Hayi, tilted her head to the side a small smile tugging on the corner of her lips, as she hesitantly held out her hand. "I don't want you to get bored out of your mind." Hayi added, which followed a small chuckle erupting from .
Seul blinks momentarily, taking what she was presented with the best she can before stuttering out a low 'okay'. She juts her seat out and wears her messenger bag across her chest. Seul takes one glance over the table before letting her eyes return to the friend. Hayi is holding out her hand. "You're sure about this right?" Seul takes hold of her long fingers and smiles reassuringly, as if reminding her friend that if she'd felt uneasy that they could stop right away.
Seul's intention isn't to for Hayi to have fun, but rather, remind her to have fun. She is such a beautiful young lady that deserves so much more than being chained away in the depths of her parent's expectations. Seul pulls out her camera with one hand and switches it on just as quickly as she takes it out. She nudges her side as she pulls her hand away from hers, motioning over to her camera.
"I need a memento," She exclaims rather excitedly. "It's not everyday Hayi, Lee Hayi, agrees to have fun you know." Seul flashes a sheepish smile and extends her hand as they walk along side each other, snapping; one, two, three pictures just for precaution.
