In a union of the most eligible bachelor and an exquisitely attractive aristocratic lady at the prime of their lives, it is no wonder that they have all of high society and the public's unwavering attention, for together they are a power couple, unstoppable in every sense of the word, capable of taking whatever they desire.  Both, however, are single-minded alphas in their own right and do not know the meaning of yielding in love.  Instead, each loves destructively, fatally, defiantly, with a passion so strong they can't help but repel at times.  And who cares which of the charismatic duo began the affairs first, because now they're equally guilty of infidelity, affair after affair after affair to the point that they have lost track and aren't even bothering to hide it anymore.  In fact, it has become a part of their love, something of a challenge to see who can outdo the other in covering their bedposts with notches.  Call it what you may, criticise all you want, but the fact is this: "We loved the only way we knew how -- violently, and without holding back."

Set in the 20th century, before technology had advanced to allow for ridiculously convenient communication, two adolescents find themselves stuck in a small seaside town with relatives whose accents are so strong they can't even understand a single word.  A chance encounter diverts their paths into one, and suddenly it would seem that their final vacation before they have to learn to 'grow up' won't be wasted after all.

"Among these billions of people, there are those that I would have liked to meet but only missed.  Those I would have tried to understand but couldn't."  So begins the tale of two insignificant human beings lost among the overpopulated capital city, more similar than they would have thought yet never quite fated to meet.  Their relationship is a series of almost getting to know each other, and despite the permanent evasive sense of missing something (or someone) in their lives, they continue to reflect upon its meaning.  Each, in their own method, attempts to come to terms with their infinitesimal existence and to be content with the bad cards they are dealt.  Although they stumble and fall, make frequent mistakes, the light at the end of the tunnel shines on.

Think London in the 19th century, cosmopolitan version.  C1 is a jack of all trades, availed of access through whichever door he wishes thanks to his numerous contacts and debts owed in his favour.  Chiefly an information broker, he is unscrupulous, willing to take orders for the right price, yet as he explains it, money is merely a measure of desperation, not his ultimate goal; rather, he does what he does only for the sake of the thrill.  He's used to working alone and has no plans of sharing his grand apartment with anyone else.  However, he cannot turn away an old friend's request when she asks him to take care of her son, C2.  And so the games begin with renewed fervour.

SAFE HOUSE / 008 / any / 19th century London AU, fantasy thriller, urban / available

Think London in the 19th century, cosmopolitan version.  Having been banished from the Promised Land and its memories confiscated, C1 wakes up in a gutter knowing only that while it is trapped in the form of a human, it is everything but.  To make matters worse, an overzealous policeman asks to check his identity and takes him into custody when he can't produce his papers.  Then he meets C2, who comes claiming to be his doctor with the explanation that C1 has problems in his brain to the effect of memory loss and the certificate to prove.  C1 is released from the temporary jail holding cell and follows C2 to a narrow house squeezed between many others, where he finds out that there are plenty like him - some, in a similar condition, unable to recall anything yet able to cast off their human disguises to reveal their true selves; some have fled voluntarily and are in hiding.  All bear a so-called 'curse mark' upon their flesh that can be seen once breathed on by their kind.  C1 also learns that elsewhere in the city, another house exists but for a different, darker purpose, and C2 is in a lethal race against the opposite side in gathering the exiled and the runaways.  Strangely C1 feels like he knows C2 from a long time ago, though he cannot remember it clearly, and C2 refuses to talk about himself.  As he lends his assistance to C2's cause, C1 struggles to put together the pieces, if only to silence the torturous voice within his sleep.

Lee Yubi and Lee Jongsuk grew up in the same neighbourhood of filth and vice.  Inspired by the old tale of Hong Gil Dong, they form a team of three with Yubi's younger brother in tow, committing crimes for what they feel is the benefit of the unforunate and underprivileged, exacting justice where they see fit.  However, circumstances cause Jongsuk to betray the orphaned siblings, ultimately leading Yubi's brother to take the fall and die in gunfire.  Five years on, newly released from prison for a different crime, Jongsuk enters Yubi's restructured life again, with no intention of leaving her alone - he wants to renew their partnership.
