Do you guys speak or write differently (still in English) at, say, work, school, or in public than you would at home? I, myself, speak and write in an almost completely different manner when around family members or close friends, and I'm just curious to know if anyone else is the same way. To be honest, I don't think many people would continue to talk to me if I typed/talked the way I actually talk at home.

By the way, if you don't understand what I mean, here's an example:

When I'm with my family members, I speak African American Vernacular English (AAVE) or "Black" English, as some like to call it, but when I'm at school, I speak in a more "standard" manner (in the way this post was typed), or I blend the two with Standard English coming out as the primary manner of speech. Hopefully, this helps you better understand, if you didn't before.

To be frank, I don't think I do - my english at home and school is pretty much the same but I have noticed other people's transition. This may be because although I am nepalese-english, I can't speak the language but other nepalese friends of mine (who can speak the language) have both a slight accent change and use english-nepalese : a mix of both languages. However for me, I think I speak the same. The only difference would probably be at school I'm much more literate while at home, my speech is "basic" (?) and doesn't consist of many features.

I sort of do? I mean, when at school I'm much more... poetic? I'm pickier with my words and often my english is more stuttered (or full of pauses where I rethink my choice of words). When I'm here I'm literally illiterate (many doge references, so much caps lock, careless mistakes - unless I try, of course), and when I talk with my mom (she didn't speak english till she was 30+ because we immigrated to America shortly after I was born), I simplify the english or speak a mix of english and my native tongue. At times, I will even take on the accent of english-speaking people from my country and it's not intentional at all OTL.
