My cat came home today! She's been living with my mom while I was in Ireland. It took her over a week to stop hissing at everything and over a month to settle completely. Two days before I went I "moved" to my mom's temporarily because that was closer to the airport. The first time I came to see her at my mom's, she was still hissing at everything, but when I came she kept bobbing my hand to get pet(ted?). When I came just before I went to Ireland, I went inside and called her and she jumped down from my sister's closet and ran to me immediately.
She's seemed very happy with my mom, though, after she got used to everything. When I came back from Ireland, she definitely didn't have time to talk to me and I was no fun at all. I was kind of devastated by that and very worried how she would take moving in with me seeing as it took her over a month to get comfortable with my mom.
She arrived 6 hours ago. I was in my shed when she came, so she ran straight under the bed. When I then got back to my apartment, she came out once I was there. My mom and sister was there, so she alternated between hiding under my bed and walking around and sniffing everything. When they left she began exploring a bit more until she flopped in the window sill and then on top of my closet. Half an hour ago she decided she had rested enough and jumped down, immediately going to me and demanding attention. I pet(ted) her and then went to the kitchen to make food. Once I sat down, I heard a rumble behind me; she was literally walking around and exploring while purring! She usually NEVER purrs unless she is being petted or have just been. She seems comfortable and curious (she just flopped over on my floor) and she is still purring and I can't help but think that she recognises me as "mom/home" and that, even though it's a new place, she knows that she is home now and now I am crying a little because I freaking missed that stupid fluffball and I am so happy that she seems so relaxed about the whole thing.
