i dump the cell phone on the study table as soon as i read his brisk reply, rendering the smile on my lips stay intact just like the first text he shot me twenty minutes ago. too bad now that i have homeworks piling up waiting for me to finish it.

eliciting a small sigh of desolation upon sparing a fleeting glance at the screen, i wrap my fingers round the ball pen and find myself struggling to finish the whole exercise given by the teacher this morning, let alone one question. the somewhat annoying buzzing multiple kakaotalk notifications sound gets me a tad bit ansty that i have to toss the pen away and heave the cell phone in my grip firmly. not that i want to ignore my boyfriend or anything—i mean, i’d love to simply sit down and talk to him all day long—but these stupid homeworks completely ruin my lovely night and lure me away from the latter. if i had gotten to meet him at school today, that would have been better. he didn’t attend school today due to his mom being sick and i swear to god, i ing miss him to the core.

why isn’t he replying? a single thought runs through the back of my mind. did he go to the bathroom or something? it has been a few minutes since my last reply and he hasn’t even read it.

deciding to focus back on the monotonous exercise, i only manage a couple of easy questions before the door of my room is knocked several time. i turn around and see the frame of my little sister before me.

“what’s up?” i ask nonchalantly, raising a brow.

“dad ordered pizza, so uh let’s go eat,” the younger girl answers as she folds her arms over her chest.

“can’t you just ask dad to keep me a few slices, hm? i’ve got to do at the moment, so yeah.”

“they’ll get cold, though?” she frowns and happens to see the brightly lit pop-up kakaotalk notification from jungkook on the spur of the moment. “instead. can you just ditch your —or more like your girly girlfriend and get your out of your room for like, a couple of minutes?” the sassiness drips in her tone is so evident i feel like slapping her in the face. and what’s more, it irritates me that she just called my boyfriend a ‘girlfriend’—or has always called—when she clearly knows he doesn’t even have a . well, happened and she got to know that i swing that way. it was a relief that she agreed to keep our relationship a secret. only after i bribed her with weekly pocket money that i’ve been giving her up until now, though.

“fine.” clicking my tongue in utmost distaste, i nod rashly and gesture her out of my room. “just let dad know that i’ll ing come out in a few minutes so please get your out of my holy room. like, ing right now.”

a slew of profanities exit her plump lips that i don’t bother listening to. instead, i hurriedly unlock my screen open and click on the countless notifications.

i only return to my room after i had to stay outside for almost an hour. not only did i have to finish all the leftovers because the others were all full after two slices each, but that dashed off right away to her room when mom told one of us to clean up the mess. so yeah, i basically had to all the cleaning stuff.

and now here i am—back to my room with homework having yet to finish and jungkook. i elicit an amused chuckle at the thought of him being pissed for breaking the promise to be right back,  whereas it’s freaking 1 am right now.
