a little social experiment

so i've been rping this lovely lady:
because she's my snsd bias and needs more attention just cause she's the cutest

but i've noticed something because of her dps.

i started out with a dp that was super cute and conservative af.
she was pretty ignored, to the point i said: "it's hard rping an unpopular character."
there was only few people excited to see a sunny before they moved on.
so i got curious and put up this dp:

the difference was shocking.
suddenly girls were groping sunny's chest and guys were getting "nosebleeds". some guys even asked to motorboat her.
it was pretty funny and i didn't really notice any jealousy besides a few girls comparing size.

until i joined a different rp. the same thing happened.
i had a dp that kind of showed off her cleavage but it wasn't very revealing and in your face like the last one.
so i once again changed the dp to the bikini pic when people weren't really looking at sunny.
the same results.
people suddenly wished to touch her chest. guys often stared

it was so fascinating how rpr is a microcosm of real life.
and then, i got a reminder of the double standards of the world. of the dreaded word, patriarchy.
but let me get this straight. patriarchy is not male dominance but the discourse of dominance. of power. of a predetermined social caste system not exclusive to any one society. male just was deemed as the top of the class for they were owners of objects such as fertile lands. inadvertently women became objects for their reproductive organs.
so, therefore, women just only be presented in a way that pleases the "owner" for they are their property.

there's always guys flaunting their abs and such, right? no one bats their eyelashes.
but it was funny because in the second rp , the moment sunny put up that dp then the attention that was on other girls was taken away.
or at least more guys paid attention to sunny. not necessarily the same guys.
i could feel the passive aggressiveness in their words, but they never called me out.

instead, it happened the next day. (today)
it came in the form of a girl's male second character:

stares at sunny's s sleepily, unfazed by the size before
walk around, searching for my -.

if you were unfazed by the size then why did you stare

bcs you're parading it around?

isn't it funny how the world is so horrible to women just because they're proud of their bodies? lol
yet men can get away with flashing their abs and rolling their hips. girls will go crazy but they'll turn around and out another girl doing the same thing.
yes, i obviously did it for attention but any one person would do that when there are such a plethora of girls in a place like this.
but you know the saying:
"if a nail sticks out, it must be hammered down."

we, women, are allowing ourselves to perpetuate the very world that puts us beneath others.

Whereas here I'm more wary if there's a DP of a dude shirtless/doing something y... or just full on flee if there's y anything involved. I personally can't do y DPs on my own charas. WYSIWYG, usually. But c'est la vie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I completely and wholeheartedly agree. It's ridiculous and I've often found myself being ignored by the same reason. I usually play "mature" women. Like Song Qian or Park So Ra. My women are by no means pushover and although flirty and uncaring of the norm, they don't let you get in their pants. And if they do, they don't just magically fall in love. (SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS OFTEN HERE)

And my men are also older and unpopular faces. Or if they are popular, I don't play them like people normally expect them to be. Like my Lee Soo Hyuk for example. He's a male Secretary with germaphobia and is aual. Girls don't seem to like that.

It's like everything has to be a certain way. If we don't comply (both men and women) to society's standards, then we are sincerely ed over, shamed and forgotten.

but man ,
the same thing happens with boys. if you try to be an unpopular guy who doesn't have his shirt ripped open w/ glorious abs, people are less likely to flock to you. just a fact of life, esp in the rpr community bc they're all hormone driven people.

Funny thing is that most roleplayers here are women, so it's basically women objectifying women <3

i have tried that dp thing before, specific dps get the attention so fast but some dps just make you get ignored.

same for dudes, even if i play someone like sehun or kai, I'll get a few hi theres but as soon as I put up some hip ing dp or a shirtless dp, girls are suddenly yelling daddy
