Rain, I asked, why do you follow me? 

The rain said nothing, just watched me walk away through puddles, holding my blue umbrella.

Rain, I asked, why do you make my mood sour?

The rain said nothing, just watched me sitting by the window staring outside, waiting for the sun. 

Rain, I asked, why is my heart so heavy? Why do I want to cry? 

And the rain answered me, gentle and soft and oh so different from the burning heat of the sun I had craved so much. 

I follow you, Rain said, because I want to hide your tears so nobody can see you cry. Your heart is heavy because I can't heal it, no matter how much I try. I wish you would dance, Rain whispered to me, in my gentle breeze and pleasant air. Smell how the dust gets washed away so you might see, that every end can be taken away by me. I wish I could heal you, sad little soul. 

Why, I asked him, do you do this for me? I am always wishing for the sun to return.

And rain caressed my face with his gentle drops, like he was kissing my cheek and he finally said: 

Oh if only you wouldn't. If only you people would see, that the flames you are craving are really unforgiving. But I, as grey as I might be, could make you happy. You flock to the light, the brightness are rend beauty, ignore what could be so much better for you. 

It took me some time. 

But then I told him: alright, dear Rain. Make me dance.
