It's my last Sunday in Beijing. My last Sunday in China until next year when I go attend my cousins wedding.
So I said goodbye this weekend.
I said goodbye to my university, to the subway station Huixinxijie Beikou where I spent hours waiting for my friend and ending up skipping class together.
I said goodbye to my favorite hutong bar near Yonghegong. To the fairylights hanging so low on the ceiling you have to be careful not to get tangled when you raise your hand. To the nice bartender who always helped me to call a taxi
Goodbye to Wangfujing with its tourist area where you can eat scorpions on a stick. To the tiny shops only the locals know there.
I bid my farewell to Beihai and it's wonderful scenery at night with all the glittering lights and too many people and overly expensive drinks
See you again to my favorite restaurant where my friend works, with all its handsome waiters and awesome sesame ice cream.
Goodbye Datunlu station, goodbye line 7,5,10 and 2. Goodbye Xidan, I'll miss your cool clothes and delicious bubble tea and awesome prices.
I'll miss you, Miniso and etude house. Goodbye Costa Coffee, city center, Futong station, warawara and your Soju filled watermelon.
But most of all farewell Wangjing South, where I spent hours in the sun, studying my off while drinking mango slushies and salted caramel latte at dunkin donuts with my friend. To the friendly batista there who always gave me my drinks in large without charging me for it. Goodbye weird mix of Chinese and Korean there on the signs, the people handing out pamphlets right in front of the mall there, the uncomfortable plastic chairs and wobbly table.
I'll miss all this. But I'm glad I can go.
