Read Before You Approach Me

ೃ★︎ ⟶ FOR PLOTTING. i would prefer if you came to me with a plot in mind, and i will try and do the same. plotting is usually not too hard for me to do, but sometimes i can get quite stumped. winging is fine, but i am still quite new to it so it can blind-side me a bit ghjfd.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ TIME ZONE & PACE. my timezone is gmt8. know that i am very not active with replies lol. i have bouts of intense writer’s block and low muse, so i might “ghost” our thread for some time, but i will try and let you know when that happens. please just poke me politely and respectfully if it has been over a week since you responded, and i will let you know how i am doing (this poke won’t make me reply, just remind me that i have to let you know how i am doing).

know that i might be active in the chat or responding to other threads does not mean i am ignoring our thread or you. sometimes it’s just how it is, and i will not be mad at you for doing the same.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ & DATING. i am 22 years old ooc. however, i am uncomfortable to with people i have never done a plot before with or someone i don’t know well. if we have ted before or our characters are dating, i will be okay with it.

i do not rp large age gaps between faceclaims (not ic age, faceclaim age). generally, my characters do not have romantic connections characters that are over 4 years younger and 4 years older, unless they are over 25 then it will be 6 years older. for this character (sehun, 29), i will not create romantic connections with anyone under the age of 25 and over the age of 35. we can certainly still do platonic or familial plots (or enemies/rivals etc), or do one-sided romances/puppy love on the younger muses' part, but it will not be endgame and the older muse will not reciprocate. please respect this.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ WRITING STYLE. i tend to get a little carried away with writing so my replies might be a little long. i like to reply in 3rd pov paragraph style and only do script in chat. i might write a lot but you don’t have to mirror the length, but some effort should be applied to the reply, of course. i am more than happy to do starters, especially if i have a good idea on how to start, but please don’t expect me to do it every time, especially if it doesn’t make sense for me to start.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ GENRE LIMITS. with genres, i’m very flexible, i don’t mind plotting out fluff, angst, even romance, but i will not plot out a pwp plot with you. if our non-pwp plot has in it, i will ask you to skip over the scene or speak about it in passing. please refer to above as to why.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ LOCATION. i don’t really mind where our threads are, walls, pms, or rooms. i would prefer rooms just to keep the rp active and getting us both some points, but i really don’t mind wherever.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ BIG NO-NOS. i don't rp things like , , ia, non-con/dub-con, and other taboo subjects of the like. i prefer to stay out of infidelity plots (unless we are close and talk it out a lot beforehand).

The Story

Part I

✦ originally born in 1882 in washington d.c., he had a relatively happy life with his parents. however, when he was 3 years old, his parents were killed in a train accident and he was orphaned. 

✦ his grandfather, thaddeus thatch, took milo in and raised him from then on. milo had a nice life, despite missing his parents, as his grandfather was extremely caring and wished to help cultivate milo's intellgence. 

✦ milo's grandfather was a professor at the smithsonian, and milo had taken after him in his interest in languages, cartography, and anthropology. 

✦ milo was deemed a prodigal child as he would finish his schooling before he was 12 years old, and would go into applying for universities like harvard and princeton at the same age. however, he had declined the offers of admission from those universities and instead went to oxford in 1896. 

✦ university was easy but exciting for milo, though he didn't make many friends due to the age gap and many believing that milo was too enthusastic and "peculiar". as time went on, he would be disliked for his connections.

the lost empire

✦ after graduating, milo started working at the smithsonian back in washington d.c., though he was incredibly intelligent and well-rounded, he basically only got the job because of his grandfather's connections. he would work as a linguist.

✦ milo had made a discovery on an artifact known as the shepard's journal, believing it could help him find the lost city of atlantis. however, his employers and board members would deny the funding to make an expedition as they believed it was baseless and fantastical, something milo's grandfather would often find himself dealing with.

✦ however, an old friend of milo's grandfather would give him the shepard's journal, something promised to him after his grandfather's passing. this friend would set up an expedition for milo and him to go searching for atlantis.

✦ he pours over the book during the beginning of the expedition,  and along with his other "oddities", his crewmates do not take to him well, often teasing him or playing pranks on him. eventually they start to open up to him.

✦ one night on the expedition, milo goes out to use the restroom, but ends up getting attacked by fireflies and loses consciousness in a cave. when he awakens, strange figures surround him. when milo's injuries become more apparent, one of the figures takes off her mask and reveals herself to be a woman, later he comes to see her name is kida.

✦ as the people take him back to their home, milo begins to realize that these people are atlanteans and this is the city of atlantis. 

✦ milo, despite his bad first impression with the king of atlantis and kida's father, grows closer with her as he learns more about her and atlantis, as well as how they have lost much of their culture and language despite being alive for so long. 

✦ slowly learning of one of his crewmate's, and another old friend of his grandfather's (not the one who gave him the shepard's journal), rourke, had bad intentions of selling atlantean energy supplies on the black market, milo tries to separate himself from the crew but is forced to cooperate when kida's life is endangered. 
　　✧ kida binds herself to the heart of atlantis, the main energy source of atlantis, which activates its powers. rourke and the crew take kida and the crystal away to sell. 

✦ they are about to make their way back home, and angrily, milo lashes out on all of his crewmates and rourke, who may have killed his grandfather, which leads to them siding with milo and standing up against rourke. when milo finds out that if kida is attached to the crystal for too long she will be lost to it, he knows he has to save her.

✦ milo and the crew end up saving kida and killing rourke, but he accidentally awakens a nearby volcano. however, he is able to save kida and unbind her from the crystal, and the two profess their love for one another.

✦ originally, milo's plan was to fake his death and stay in atlantis, but after word of a relative of his being uncovered in america and needing his helped. milo promises to kida that once he gets back he will marry her and he will help her and atlantis recover their lost language and history. milo never sees her again.

Part II

the lost man

✦ on the way back, the ship gets intercepted by american soldiers who believe that the boat may be enemies of the nation. without their knowing, the world had delved into what the soldiers had called "the great war", and had believed that the crew may be enemy spies.

✦ as they go back to america for questioning, milo manages to escape and jump off the ship into a dingy in the ocean. while he tries his best to make it back to atlantis, a storm takes him undertow and he drowns.

✦ however, milo wakes up. apparently he had been washed ashore on an island called jeju. when he looks himself in the mirror, he is no longer himself, but someone else completely. as if he had taken the identity of someone completely new. the person, seemingly knowing his possible origins, gives him the new identity of oh sehun, a korean-american man who had come to live in jeju. with no money of his own nor any background, sehun is unable to apply for a nearby univerisity to continue his studies, and must become a plumber as that was one of the few things he could do back in his fable.

✦ sehun has little to no memories of milo, though he remembers a few of them in his dreams, specifically of kida. currently, he believes he has taken a new form and has travelled into the future, and wishes to find atlantis once more and find kida.
