"Wherever you go, go with all your heart."
Confucius
The royal throne is a very lonely place.
Enemies, hidden and obvious, surround.
If you want to gain one thing, you must give up the other.
That is politics.
The confluence of the four elements – Earth, Wind, Fire and Water, was how we have been taught to live. Through Confucian values, we have learnt to be stable like the ground beneath our feet, light-hearted and ready to forgive as the spring breeze, passionate and motivated like flames that at wood, and flexible as running rivers course through their paths.
When Seoul was known as Hanyang, hanbok was the latest fashion trend. Confucianism was the gateway to living a respectable life - the Sam Kang O Ryun governed every aspect. This time period was known as Joseon, where Kings ruled all over Korea, and scholars from Sungkyunkwan filled the streets. Art and Culture flourished through the Kingdom. Though it wasn’t all good, corrupt officials and kings made life harder on the poorer population. Unless you were born into a good family, life wasn’t like those with money or power. Spin your very own tale; one whispered amongst the fine silks of mercenaries and scholars, or conversed about loudly in the bustling marketplace.
