Fantasy worlds are ever so common - people have to but close their eyes and let the subconscious take over to be graced with sights otherwise impossible, dreams of flying and falling, where the rules attributed to our world don't make sense. If your dreams seem bland, there are books and comics and movies and videogames dedicated to these very things.

But what if it was more than mere imagination?

If thousands of years ago, perhaps a million, the very ground you now walk on was part of the endless Elven kingdom, and those elves still walk among humans today?

If there were people, both human and Elven, capable of wielding magic?

It's 2015 and things are, to an extent, civil. It is, for all intents and purposes, considered "bad" to look down on others over their looks or natural abilities. Mages are still often encouraged to join specific mage-oriented universities and remain there to study for most of their lives, experimenting and helping research - away from where they could (and according to everyone ever, would) hurt non-mages. Elves are seen as poor, lithe creatures - often living in areas of cities specifically meant for them, not so coincidentally deemed "bad neighborhoods" - with a past long lost to slavery and murder time, and those who dare hold on to it (the Dalish), are considered 'too elfy', 'romantics', or 'playing history's victim'. Old Elven tales are made into movies: the leads, more often than not, played by humans.

What if fantasy were real, but it didn't turn out to be as fantastic as we thought?

[ROLEPLAY NAME] is a modern fantasy roleplay set in South Korea, with a focus on Seoul and the diversity that comes with big cities.

We've shamelessly borrowed most of its terms from BioWare's Dragon Age series, that you need not be aware of to join. For those aware of the series: the reason this roleplay doesn't include dwarves or Qunari (the people, the religion can be followed) is because faceclaims cannot possibly match the physique of dwarves or Qunari, whereas Elves and humans are physically not too far removed from one another (assuming DA:O/DA:I - we prefer to ignore some of the choices made in DA2).
