THE LIARS
The Story So Far
.A tale as old as time. I only want what I can't have. Forbidden love is nothing new, and there's always something alluring about something you can't have, but this time, there's more at stake than ever before. it's not just their own lives, and dreams, but those of their families too.
Taekwoon and Wonshik are hardly the main characters in the drama that is their world. Both, right now, are with other people. Taekwoon is due to have an arranged marriage soon, a political marriage to secure a merger. Children of the elite are pawns, after all, not children at all. Assets would be a better word. Aside from that, he is given relative freedom to do what he likes, so long as it does not disgrace the family name. He's fond of his sisters, his pets, and honestly cares for his parents too. Most of all, he adores his nephew, who he is helping to raise. His sister, in this story, perhaps would be the main character. A woman highly sought after by many men, despite being single and a mother. Men tearing at her left and right for her affections, the family constantly occupied by the drama that forever encompasses her life.

Wonshik is a nobody. but a nobody that skim stones on the water near Taekwoon's house. He recently had his heart broken, but there's still hope for them, he says. "She says she still loves me. ", he'll tell anyone who'll listen. And he's not wrong, the tempestuous woman of his dreams, or so he thinks, is playing games. She knows they'll get together in the end, she just loves being part of the wailing play. Currently, she's left him for a 'better musician, a man with real dreams.' And she's not entirely wrong, Ravi has no dreams. He is content skimming stones, busking, making enough to get by. Just. He's happy to oblige in her need for drama, after all, he loves her. Doesn't he?
What went wrong?
Taekwoon looked. Usually, it's the starstruck pauper, looking at a prize out of his reach. It's not that simple. Taekwoon strolled through town with his nephew, and his nephew ran off, almost tumbling into the Han river. With a strange, lazy grace, Wonshik grabbed him and lifted him as his tiny feet left the curb, placing him back on the sidewalk and smiling, tutting at him to be more careful. The boy nodded, and Taekperhaps sighed with relief, until he looked into Wonshik's eyes.
The effect was immediate, in both of them, it was as if someone had struck their very chests with lightning. Wonshik's knees threatened to buckle, and Taekwoon rapidly looked away, ushering the boy back into the safety of the crowds.

Wait, that doesn't sound forbidden...
Taekwoon loves his nephew, and his family. Their entire well-being, their fortune and economic status as upperclass rests on this merger, and his own marriage. It is, quite simply, his only duty to his family. To marry and love, a woman of their choice. Even then, he'd be happy to throw it all away, and simply be disowned, perhaps, but the cost would be enormous. Not only would the merger go to waste, but so would the dowery. Unknown to many, The Jung Corporate group is in trouble. Taekwoon could leave all of them to lie in that mess, but his cancelling the wedding would lead toone of two things, either his nephew grows up in poverty ... Or is forced to marry the woman instead, at 5 years old. The price of having something precious, is the fear of losing it.
Wonshik is similarly situated, Whilst his marriage to Soo-min has no financial gain, Taekwoon's other sister holds all the keys to Wonshik's life. A few years ago, Wonshik was scammed into being an accomplice to a revenge plot, ultimately resulting in the death of Taekwoon's sister's best friend, in front of her own eyes. She knows he's innocent, but knowing one statement would be all it took to secure her family's well being, she feels he's guilty enough.
One night in a bar was all it took, one too many drinks, another spark. And the two men are in more trouble than they ever dreamed of.
