we've got a secret side in plain sight
We could be heroes
we could be heroes
a semi-alternate/alternate universe Gotham roleplay
history / about
Gotham City has been known for many things over the years, namely a city where dreams can become reality and there's a mystery lurking in even the most obvious of places. It's hard not to live in Gotham City and experience just how an environment can shape, change, and mold someone into the person they never thought they could be and, sometimes, even simply into the most extreme version of who they've always been. No matter how many years have passed since The Dark Knight's first appearance in the city, not much has changed. Just as always, there's a battle between the good, the bad, and those caught in the crossfire. It's not hard to find yourself and find your place in this city and, if you don't feel you fit in anywhere, it's not hard for you to simply make a place for you to fit. Everyone wants a piece of the city in their own way, so we invite you to do the same. Come. Find yourself and make your name, by any means necessary.
rules of conduct
01 Do not stray away from your character's personality, please. If you are not willing to actually meet that character's requirements, for lack of better words, and roleplay as them, do not ask for them just because they "seem cool" or "seem fun." Some characters may have more freedom in this regard but make sure you read thoroughly through them all before you ask for them and pay attention to any and all character relations regarding the character you want.
02 This isn't really a faceclaim type situation here. You can literally pick anyone that you feel would fit for the character that you want. There is absolutely no restriction on nationality or orientation but there might be things in the character's background and bio that you should pay attention to before deciding on a faceclaim.
03 Just like all nationalities are welcome, so are the orientations. What you should keep in mind when joining is that all orientations are welcome. That has to be reiterated so that there aren't just guys wanting guys here and, honestly, not only girls wanting girls. You don't even have to want anyone. Gotham is a diverse city and that is what we want to keep here. If there is a scent of imbalance in the air, there may be a bar on certain orientations just to make sure those that want love can actually find it. Sorry, not sorry.
04 The story is just as important here as consideration. Be mindful of your character's background story and all but also keep in mind the other people with whom you are roleplaying. Regardless of their character, do not force anyone into any uncomfortable situations. No allowed, unless the other person has stated they are okay with it. Don't assume anyone is comfortable with anything. If you have any second thoughts, if you are unsure about anything, ask them.
05 Drama is just a part of a good story but all that OOC drama is not. Please, if you feel that someone is bringing too much drama to the table, either IC or OOC, please, please, please, let an admin know so that we can keep an eye on things and intervene if necessary. We want everyone comfortable and loved here. Respect. Is. A. Must.
06 This is a mixed POV roleplay. Third pov is for roleplaying in the rooms. For OOC, do what you want. For walls, that is up to you as well.
07 MPREG is not allowed. Sorry.
08 If you want a second character, that is something to be discussed. As of right now, just one character per person, loves.
09 Dating and marriage and all that good stuff is definitely allowed but, please, don't try and hold someone down the day you get here. It's all about the story. If you feel chemistry, hey, it happens. It's just asked of you that you don't try to rush anything, especially if you're new. *whispers* No face-chasing. *cough cough*
10 Each character has their own password. Pay attention carefully.
11 If you have any questions or concerns, please, ask an admin. No need to be shy!
12 Spread the love and encourage one another and thank you for being with us, or even just dropping by! ♡

04 Make sure you use the right password for your character or you will not be accepted.
05 You come up with your character's name and villian/hero name. If you need help, *whispers* we got you.

SUNRISE CHARACTERS If you're looking to be more of a good guy, in the eyes of most people, this is where you'll most likely find a character. These are generally the "do-gooders," even vigilantes. Gotham Police will be in this category as well. Just anyone who has a goal of "fighting crime in the city" really.
MID-DAY CHARACTERS Your average civilian would be under here. They don't really have a goal of committing crimes or stopping them. Committing one crime doesn't put you in this category and stopping one won't either. This is more for those that just live in the city.
EVENING These are your more...well, criminal characters. The villains to every vigilante and the GCPD. Want to wreak a little havoc? You'll most likely find your character here.

frequently asked questions
1. How do I apply?
You go to the Rules page and look over the list of available characters and follow the rules to apply for them in the Masterlist.
2. What do "Sunrise," "Mid-Day," and "Evening" mean?
Sunrise characters are those that could be considered "textbook heroes." They fight against the Evening characters, which are pretty much villain/criminal type characters; in other words, lawbreakers, for the most part. Mid-Day characters are those that don't really stand on either side of the line. They're your everyday civilian, really.
3. Can I make my own character?
Once all of the spots have been filled, new characters can be added to the mix. Until then, I'm sorry, but you will have to wait.
4. Can I join with my own character if I just want to be a civilian?
This is allowed, yes, unless stated otherwise.
