O nce upon a time, the quiet kingdom of Moonlit was once again filled with cheerful and happy
peasants, for the war with the neighboring kingdom Lumilia had come to an end with Moonlit as the

victor. The whole kingdom rejoiced; dancing, drinking, and merry-making for weeks on end. The kingdom

was at peace, and so were the townsmen. Many of the soldiers were sent home with injuries, but they all

were healed with joy from the kingdom's happiness. All was well in the kingdom, once again.
 

The king of Moonlit, as the eccentric and happy-go-lucky king he was, declared that the young citizens of

the kingdom would all come to the castle and attend the Masquerade Ball in honor of winning the

three-year-long war with Lumilia.Every girl and boy, ages sixteen to thirty-five, received an invitation

stating that attending was mandatory. Everyone was excited to attend, and most promised to bring back

goods from the extravagent party. This would be one of the best nights of their young lives.
 

The day of the Masquerade ball came, and all of the girls and boys were dressed in suits and gowns made of

the finest of materials and jewels. They sparkled and shined, as if they were stars lighting up the night

sky, though their faces were covered by their masks. The young peasants and citizens danced under the

chandelier lights of the ballroom, throwing all of their cares away.
 

Suddenly, the grandfather clocks lined up in the front of the ballroom started to chime, and a voice

boomed throughout the ballroom. It was the king. But he was nowhere to be found. The peasants were

suprised. What was the king doing? His voice called out to the citizens.

"My loyal subjects welcome to the masquerade ball. 'What is he thinking?' you all ask. Well, I am simply

proclaiming to play a little game. The outside world can no longer see us, we're hidden in the cloak of time

and space. You have no where to hide, so you all must play. Inside, I have hidden many clues as to where I

am hiding. You must find them, locate where I am, and kill me. If you can at least locate where I am, you

have, also, won. But only a handful of you may win the game. You may do whatever is necessary to find

a clue, even if it means killing other players. But be wise, for one may have something you do not. Good

luck and remember, you cannot return to your loved ones until the game is over. Goodbye."
 

With that, everyone froze. They realized that this was no longer a party of celebration, but a game of survival.
