But it seems now that the concept has taken on a whole new meaning.
Groups of monsters lurk in the shadows, battling it out for control of the city, preying upon the innocent and causing widespread panic.
The citizens know well to clear of the streets when the sun sets for fear of being pulled into the middle of a full out warzone.

Vampires

The infamous night walkers of history. They survive on blood, and have the powers of compulsion, enhanced speed and senses, as well as limited shape shifting (either to a bat, wolf, or cat) and mist travel. Those who choose to be vampires will find that with extreme beauty and grace also comes insanity. Vampires are volatile creatures, and they've been known to loose their grip from time to time. Contrary to popular belief, they can go out during the day time, though it does weaken their powers. They suffer from insomnia, unable to fall asleep no matter how hard they try. The vampires currently control the higher class parts of the city, most hospitals are also run by the vampires.

Fallen Angels

Divine beings that were cast out of heaven for betraying god. Fallen angels are perhaps some of the most interesting creatures you will ever meet. Some of them were wrongfully accused and cast out, while others did exactly what they were accused of. Fallen angels have been stripped of their wings, and are forced to live in darkness. They control an element, and are able to read minds along with possessing the remnants of their angelic auras that allows them super senses and speed. Fallen angels sometimes struggle because they were at one time perfect beings. Some have trouble dealing with the fact that they've been stripped of their wings and most of their powers. Most of them resent the fact that they've been cast out of heaven and forced to live as mortals. Fallen angels can be constantly seen struggling with vice, thus they control the red light district of Seoul, as well as the police stations.

Demons

Not to be confused with fallen angels, demons are as worse as they come. These beings have no sense of right or wrong, and thus they will gladly destroy anybody who stands in the way of what they want. Demons can come from any of the nine circles of hell, the demons from the lower circles being more unstable than the ones from closer to the surface. All demons control fire and ice, and they have enhanced speed and strength. As creatures of darkness, demons have weak control of it, able to make it something that can actually cause some form of physical damage. Demons feed off of the life force of humans, however because of their striking red eyes, most humans have learned to stay away from them even with the coat of glamour that most demons possess. Thus, most demons are never able to fully tap into the full potential of their destructive powers. Demons control the poverty stricken areas of Seoul, feeding off of the misery that soaks the area.

Necromancers

Those who are born with magic in their blood and leaned towards the darker side of the spectrum. Necromancers are users of blood magic and voodoo. The magic they practice has the potential to be extremely powerful; however, most of it never gets used because everything comes with a price. They answer to the spirit that they have bonded with as part of their rite of passage. Necromancers can be seen as insane, as it is not uncommon for them to hear voices in their heads. They are seen as inferior in the eyes of the other creatures. Necromancers control the graveyards and city mourges.
