@Ren "You saved his life." Jiayi argued, looking genuinely angry. "You don't get to come in and make them feel safe and then just vanish on them. I know you got hurt, but a good mom sticks around."
@Kris "I don't think you do need me anymore though, you're back with your kids now. They need you a lot more than they could ever need me. I got Yifan shot, Jiayi. That's not what good mother's do." Lan pointed out miserably, closing her eyes tightly as more tears slipped down her cheeks.
@Ren "Lan, no. Those boys need you. I need you. Please, don't talk like that.." Jiayi whispered, wiping her tears away gently and shaking his head. "We love you, Lan. All of us do."
@Kris Lan nodded slowly but the tears continued to drip down her cheeks, "I still don't think I'm meant to be a Mother." She said softly, "My children were taken away from me for a good reason, I believe that. Even if I don't know what the reason was, my husband, my kids... I know it's just the depression talking, but part of me just wants to go back to my little apartment and work on opening a new restaurant. Maybe I'll move back to China finally..."
@Ren "You saved his life." Jiayi whispered. "You saved our boy. He had that gun pointed at his head and you pushed him out of the way. If you hadn't been there, he wouldn't be here." Jiayi said, kissing her forehead softly. "He got shot in the shoulder. I would much rather him shot in the shoulder than in the head."
@Kris Lan nodded slowly, "Alright, I would like that." She murmured softly, "What happened to him?" She asked softly, only just realizing that she didn't actually know. "Is he alright? I tried to protect him but..." She sighed softly and shook her head again as a few tears slipped down her cheeks. "I don't think I was ever meant to be a Mother..."
@Ren "I've been trying to get the doctors to move you into the room with Kris, so the whole family can be together." Jiayi said softly, stepping back when she pushed him away. He sighed, that old feeling of not being able to do anything right coming back for him.
@Kris Lan gently pushed Jiayi away and sighed softly, "I've been awake." She whispered, though she was glad that Kris was alright, or at least he assumed he was based on Jiayi's wording. "I don't know why you're here though, I'm sure the boys need you more than I do." She said softly, looking down at the sheets covering her bandaged leg as more tears burned her eyes. She was honestly hurt at having been forgotten, though she did understand why Jiayi had done it. Even she agreed that the boys were more important, but that didn't stop the small sting of pain in her chest.
@Ren Jiayi slipped into the room and looked at Lan, tears still in his eyes as he made his way over to her. "Oh, thank god, you're awake." Jiayi said, going to her and wrapping his arms around her gently. "You're both awake. Everything's going to be okay." He said, though it was half for his own benefit. He needed to hear it to believe it.
@Kris Ren shook his head slowly and nuzzled back into Kris' hair, honestly annoyed at Jiayi even if he did understand his concern.
Lan sighed softly as yet another nurse told her she couldn't get out of bed, and that they would try to find her family soon. But they were in no hurry and she could only assume the worst given that it had been quite a while since she'd woken up and she hadn't seen Ren or Jiayi once. She let herself cry softly every time the nurses left, but did her best to dry the tears when they came back in, she didn't want sedated any further than she already was.
@Ren "I'll tell them to move her in here." Jiayi said, turning and walking out of the room. He headed down the hall, grabbing a nurse and explaining the situation before heading to Lan's room with a promise that she would be moved as soon as a doctor cleared it.
@Kris "I know that Dad, Kris knows that." Ren told him, getting a little impatient. "But right now Mom is all alone in a hospital room with no idea what's going on here and no idea where her family is."
@Ren "I couldn't live with myself if anything happened to either of you." Jiayi said softly, wanting to pull Kris into his arms but knowing it would do more harm than good. "You two are my world." He said, looking at Ren and shaking his head slowly. "You have no idea."
@Ren Jiayi nodded, but he didn't move to leave. He moved closer to Kris, instead, swallowing hard around the lump in his throat and leaning over Kris, kissing his forehead softly as a few tears managed to leak down his cheeks.
@Kris Ren finally turned to look at Jiayi and sighed softly, "Somebody has to go see Lan, if Kris is awake then I'm sure she is too." He pointed out, "We can't leave her alone all day, she doesn't deserve that. Not if she's hurt too."
@Ren Kris' breathing slowly evened out as he fell into a much needed sleep, his body working hard to repair itself and draining most of his energy.
Jiayi watched the whole time with tears in his eyes and a stoic expression. He knew he should probably go check on Lan or something, thank her for saving his son, but he couldn't take his eyes off of Kris. He felt like his world was shattering around him as he stared at the boy in the hospital bed, gauze wrapped all around his arm.
@Kris "Sleep my Yifannie, I'll be right here always." Ren whispered, kissing Kris' forehead gently and moving a little closer to him. He glanced over at Jiayi and continued to Kris' hair. "My Yifannie, you're alright."
@Ren Kris leaned into Ren's gentle touches, looking up at him with soft, slightly unfocused eyes. "I know." He whispered, closing his eyes and resting his head on the pillow quietly.
"I wouldn't leave you." Ren promised him sincerely, "I've always been here, haven't I?" He reminded Kris gently, stroking his hair and pressing feather light kisses all over his face. "I wouldn't leave you my Yifannie, I'll be right here, always."
@Ren Ren: Ren slipped past Jiayi and rushed to Kris' side, taking his hand immediately and trying to remind himself that he knew how to breathe, "W-what happened, w-where did he get shot?" He demanded, realizing only now that no one had told him.
Kris: Jiayi tried to open his mouth to answer Ren, but he had a lump in his throat and he couldn't get anything out. He leaned over Kris' bed and d his hair, tears in his eyes. "My son.." He whispered.
Ren: Ren kissed Kris' hand and closed his eyes for a few seconds, "It's okay Krissy, it's okay. I'll take care of you, i'll keep you safe no matter what." He whispered, kissing Kris' hand again every few words.
Kris: Kris slowly opened his eyes, an odd whimper escaping him when he tried to move. "Minki?" He whispered pleadingly.
Ren: "I'm right here, Yifannie." Ren said immeidately, squeezing his hand lightly. "I'm right here, you're okay."
Kris: Jiayi backed up, giving them both room to comfort each other and trying to take a moment to breath.
Kris: Kris gasped softly and pulled Minki closer, looking him over with a relieved expression. "You're here."
Ren: Ren pressed little kisses all over Kris' face, "Of course I'm here, I'm always going to be right here." He promised, "Are you okay Yifannie?"
Kris: "It hurts." Yifan whimpered softly and looked at Ren with tears in his eyes. "Rennie what happened?"
Ren: "Some stupid bad man shot you." Ren explained gently, cupping Kris' cheek. "You're okay though, you're safe and you're okay."
Kris: "Don't leave me." Kris begged, trying to sit up and crying out when he did.
Ren: "im not going to leave, baby, dont move." Ren begged, kissed Kris' cheek and squeezing his hand.
Kris: "Come up here." Kris pleaded softly.
Ren: Ren only hesitated for a moment before he climbed up on Kris' good side, curling up against his side and kissing his cheek, "You're okay my Yifannie, I'm right here."
Kris: "Thank you." Kris whispered, wraaping his good arm around him and holding on tight.
Ren: Ren kissed his cheek again and smiled softly, "You're welcome my Yifannie. I love you so much."
Kris: "I love you too." Kris whispered, hugging Ren tighter and resting his head against the others.
Ren: Ren nuzzled Kris' cheek and kissed it softly one more time, "Please rest, okay? You need it to get better."
Kris: "Will you be here?" Kris asked, needing to be sure he wasn't going to wake up alone. He needed Ren more now than he ever had before.
