Q1. What is the mating process for Arcadians(written for all were-hunters)?
A1: It can vary from species to species so you can feel free to add a bit of extra character to your specific event if you like but generally it happens like this.
Step 1: Finding your soul mate. After an intricate mark will burn into your palm and that of your partner that mirror each other perfectly. It looks like a henna tattoo and carries the lineage of both partners on it. Other were-hunters can read it. Now you have to be careful though as you both carry each other's scent.
Step 2: Consumation. Once the mark appears you have three weeks to consumate the mating - an act in which the female has total control. She must decide whether to accept him as her mate and take him into her body. The female can refuse and if she does then it means the fates have declared that they will live out the rest of their lives without another mate. The females are still able to e but the males cannot.
Step 3: Bonding (Optional). There are two classifications of mating for were-hunters,claimed mate and bonded mate, that determine the strength of the bond between them. In order to bond, during consumation of their love the couple must clasp their marked hands together and recite the words of the bonding spell: "I accept you as you are, and I will always hold you close in my heart. I will walk beside you forever." After the spell the weres succumb to their animal instinct and their canines elongate. At this point, if the female chooses, they sink their fangs into each other and drink each others blood. This combines their life forces. Once bonded if one of the were couple should die then the other will die as well. The only exception is it is the male who dies while the female is pregnant then she lives long enough to give birth but dies immediately after. If the couple is not bonded and one mate dies then the other is free to mate again.
Q2. Is there cross-species love?
A2: Yes. Most of the clans will not be so thrilled about it but it does happen. In the event of children the child inherits only one of the patria. If the child is a mix between arcadian and katagaria the child only inherits one of those as well. In the case of a mix between were-hunters and a non were-hunters, again the child is either one or the other. It is the same for demi-gods. Dark-hunter traits are the only traits that do not pass down since they didn't inherit theirs to begin with.
Q3. What is the population of Arcadian and Katagarian by species?
A3: Even in the books there are no clear numbers on most the clans. In fact, many are just mentioned and not even all have main characters at all. There are a few things that we will try to stick to such as the arcadian dragons are all but extinct because of the blood feud with the katagarian dragons and the extinction of the arcadian jaguars because they pissed off their god. These are not pure rules though if an argument or backstory can be constructed that makes sense. The rest of the numbers of the clans are supposed to be relatively thriving.
