▪ (Opium Den) The Odyssey

@Jung Taekwoon The old man tsked once, twice and shook his head. Nevertheless, he opened the door and let the non-human enter. "No good'll come from meetin' 'im I tell ya!", he grumbled and stepped aside. Now that his body was in full view, one could see that where his left leg used to be, a wooden stump carried his weight. "Infection. 'Ad to be chopped off ya know?", he answered the unasked question. He got the looks quite often, so over the years he'd just started to speak before the other.. it saved time, money, breath and life. "Just keep on walkin' ey? Wander a lil'. When ya see the evil thing with long black hair.. That's Mr. Zhou alright. Follow the pretty ey." And with that he closed the door behind the other and wandered off into the darkness, mumbling inaudible curses under his breath.

His opium den was designed like a labyrinth and the closer one got to the center, the cleaner and the nicer the furniture. Dead center, of course, was Zhou himself, reclining on an elaborately decorated bed the 'Penny Dreadful's still in hand.

An elderly Chinese male opened a little slot in the door, barely a second after someone had knocked. With his small, beady, yet frighteningly alert eyes he stared at the vampire. He was a human, but having worked for Zhou over 10 years, knew a little about the world of Shadows. Albeit he still wasn't talented enough to pick out what species was what. "Another one of those ey?", he muttered in his low, scratchy voice. There was a visible frown on his face, but it seemed like age had just made that his permanent expression. "Wadda ya want? Here for the drugs? It'll kill ya young lad." He paused, then shrugged. "Nah you're probably 'lot older than me ey.."

In the back rooms of the back rooms, Zhou was leafing through a little magazine. One of those over-the-top, gory ones. 'Penny Dreadfuls', they were called. Probably a manifestation of human paranoia. It was soft of amusing, reading about fictional monsters and demons and vampires... They were all real. The elf was wearing a dark green robe under a black one. It was a layered qipao and the color only peeked out at his sleeves and neck. His long ebony hair was held together in a simple dutch plait. When open, it reached to the back of his knees but now it only fell a little further than his hips.
