@« park choa ». YiFan looked up in surprise, not having expected the girl to start speaking Mandarin. He didn't know quite how to react at first, but he felt a tidal wave of relief crashing through him. "Thank you." He said, switching to his own native tongue and sounding much more natural and comfortable speaking it. He didn't really speak Mandarin with anyone because his parents insisted on speaking the local language only wherever they moved to, and since YiFan had had only about a weeks warning that they were moving to Korea, he didn't really have a whole lot of time to prepare. It was a pretty silent household.
He lit up a bit when she complimented his basketball skills, though, and he nodded easily in agreement when she asked to be taught. "Yeah, I don't do anything after school so I can teach you when classes are out." He said, nodding right away. Anything that brought along human interaction was a huge selling point for him, but he didn't have terribly high expectations for the people he was interacting with, either.
@« wu yifan » the blonde haired girl listened to the male's words of while nodding her head slowly, then a bright smile curled up on her lips as she then let a small chuckle escape from her lips. " great then ¡ " she exclaimed on a happy tone, choa was very good with chinese, since she used to travel to china alot when she was younger, along with her aunt and uncle and her sweet cousins, who were half korean, half chinese . she cleaned as she began to speak in mandarin " well, I am quiet good with chinese, so we may talk like this, until you get better in korean. okay?. " she smiled brightly while slowly whipping her sweat off of her forehead with the back of her hand.
upon hearing the male's question the female's eyes widen and she quickly shaked her head, making a sign that he was wrong about that ' no, no, you are misunderstanding me! what i actually said was that you are very good in basketball, i am envious of your skills and that you should teach me when you have free time on your hands, if you would like to, ofcourse !. " she of course spoke in Chinese. ' let's make a deal, you teach me basketball and i teach you korean, how does that sound, hm? " she tilted her head while smiling softly.
@« park choa ». Kris smiled awkwardly, listening to her speak and silently repeating her words to himself so he could figure out what she was saying, but it was kind of a blur. She wasn't necessarily speaking too quickly, but she certainly said a lot, and he could only catch so much at once. "I...no, no, not very...good with Korean." He agreed, feeling kind of like an idiot. "Ah...I'm from...China. But I lived...in Canada...for a while." He explained. Cantonese, Mandarin, and English rattled around in his head and confused him enough, but throwing Korean into the mix gave him something of a headache.
He stared as she spoke again, catching some words here and there and kind of maybe getting an idea of what she was trying to say at first, but by the end of it his words were jumbled in his head and he blinked a few times before giving up, knowing he needed to clarify. "You think I'm...bad at basketball?" He asked, confusion clear in his voice, because he was kind of proud of his basketball skills, and he was about ninety percent sure he'd caught the word 'tall' in there, so he wasn't entirely sure what he was hearing. He shook her hand though, out of politeness and then casually picked up the ball again. "I think I'm alright." He mumbled in English, looking at the ball and frowning.
@« wu yifan » seeing how the male was pausing every now and the, and the unknown accent made her think he had trouble speking korean , but in the same time she found it utterly adorable, so it caused a soft chuckle escape from her pale reddish plumps. then she looked into the male's direction " kris ¿ that is a good one. do you have troubles with speaking korean? you seem to not be from here, am I wrong? " she slowly tilted her head .to a side while letting her lips curl up into a soft smile.
" me? good at dancing? no not really , I am.still a beginner, I have alot more things to learn ˝a soft sigh escaped from her lips as she shakes her head slowly. " by the way Kris, it is a pleasure to meet you, here. " she slowly moved even closer to the male to happily extend her hand towards his direction offering am friendly handshake. the female looked up at the young man in front of herself " you for sure are a tall none oh god! you should teach me how to play basketball sometimes, when you do not have ahything you have to di!.!!«
@« park choa ». YiFan jumped a little in surprise at the clapping, not having realized he'd caught the girls attention. "A-ah.." He had to think for a moment to translate what she had said in his head. The English lyrics of the song had put him back into English mode, but now he was faced with Korean again and of course, his brain was stuttering wildly, trying to grasp anything he could. It sounded like...she liked something? He shook his head, focusing for a moment before sighing. Her name. She had said her name.
"Wu YiFan, but...people call me Kris." He said, his voice thick and awkward around the new language, just like it was in English. He paused a lot between words, though, occasionally using the wrong form and then just smiling, showing his gums and hoping it was passable. "You dance very well." He said, resisting the urge to hold out his hand to shake hers. This school reminded him of the time he'd gotten lost in downtown LA while on a business trip with his parents - he wasn't entirely sure, but there was a sneaking suspicion that everyone might just want to steal his wallet. He smiled again, wider, and it was an obvious attempt at distraction from the fact that he barely knew what he was doing in this school.
@« wu yifan » the blonde haired girl was about to finish up with her dance choreography, but something was off , beside the sound of the music there was another sound, ' a ball ?' she asked herself as she turnes on her heels her dark chocolate eyes stopped up a tall figure, taking a closer look, she saw a tall male playing with the basketball ball, it was bouncing to the rhythm of the music, and that made her lips slowly curl up into a small smile, he was handsome looking and more that that, he did not really look korean, more like a foreigner , atleast that is what she thought. she kept on looking at the male for a few minutes, she was amazed at how good he was, never had he missed the basketball hoop, she was bad at basketball , since she is so short is hard for her to aim the hoop right, she was better in football or volleyball.
once the melody had finished the young petite female clapped her hands into an enthusiastic manner, applauding for the male's perfect balance and aim. " you are very good, really " she spoke on a soft tone while taking small steps into his direction " by the way, my name is park choa, and you are? " she let a small soft smile curl up on her pale reddish lips .
@« park choa ». YiFan watched quietly for a moment as the girl set up to dance, but since she hadn't asked him to leave he figured it was alright if he kept playing on his own. He gave himself a moment to get back into his mindset, tossing the ball and feeling satisfied when it went through the hoop. It wasn't until he was running to get the ball that he heard the song, scooping it up in his hands just in time to drop it again, his jaw going slack and his eyes wide. He wasn't one to judge, but the song was more intense than he was used to, his own music more instrumental and much less vulgar.
He sighed, running his fingers through his hair and reminding himself that he wasn't in Canada anymore, and he wasn't likely to get jumped for listening to this song while he played basketball. He closed his mouth and went for the ball again, this time bobbing his head a little bit to the beat and getting his body going to the same beat, his hoop shots starting to sync with the music as well. He didn't look at the girl, but he couldn't really complain too much about her music choice. He was kind of curious about where she'd learned about this style of music, but there was a language barrier, not to mention a 'anyone-you-meet-here-could--you-up' barrier, so he kept his mouth shut and just kept throwing the ball, sinking every shot.
@« wu yifan » the blonde haired female finally had finished with the classes, she is so happy to be out of the chaotic jungle that they actually call a ' classroom ' she was fed up with all the fights and drama happening in the class, and as always she decided to have some alone time and calm herself, and what could be better then that beside dancing.
the young maiden walked up into the changing room and she took on a pair of black yoga pants and a loose white ripped tshirt, and a pair of white sneakers, slowly pulling her short hair into a small ponytail, taking off her nerdy glasses and fixes her hair. she would always dress up differently in class then outside of it, because girls would bully her if she looks more attractive then them.
the young girl took her laptop and walked into the sprts room, she would rather use it then the dance room since it is alot bigger. with small stepps she made her way towards the mirrored wall in the room where she connected the laptop to the big speakers, and she first of all began to stretch her body so it would be all warmed up. after a few minutes she finally fealt ready and she decided to start dancing. the young petite female ' hit em up ' by tyga choreography by do 'moon ' zhang, she was very focused on the music that she did not even notice that there was another person in the big spacious room.
@« park choa ». YiFan stretched his arms above his head, knees and elbows bending together and straightening, his wrists curling instead as he released the orange ball and watched it fly through the air, snagging the rim of the hoop and rocking around the edge once, twice, three times before finally sinking in. Kris took off after it, grabbing it mid-bounce and pushing his feet up off the ground hard, his fingers brushing the rim this time as he pushed the ball through the net, sweat dripping close to his sensitive eyes. He paused, panting for a moment and wiping his brow. He'd been here already for close to an hour, but this was the freest he'd ever felt, and he could stay all night if he was allowed. This ball and net were the two best friends he'd ever made, and he didn't like to part with them, even for school.
YiFan was preparing to sink another basket when he heard the door open, and his perfectly controlled body fell into slight disarray as he tried to straighten up, his limbs suddenly awkward and in his way again. He figured it was a teacher, or maybe another student who wanted to use the room for himself, but he was surprised to see a girl stepping into the room. He opened and closed his mouth once before grabbing his water bottle, taking a sip before dribbling the ball hard, allowing himself to be filled with the echo of the rubbery impact on hard floors before taking another shot. If she needed him to leave, he was going to wait for her to say it, and hope he understood what she was saying.
