@kim myungsoo. He could feel his desperation building as he shut one empty drawer after another. It was a fine time to realize that he had forgotten to do that week’s grocery shopping; grocery shopping in the loosest sense of the word anyway. His wage and lack of creativity in the kitchen limited Inguk’s food options to prepackaged dishes. And at the moment, he didn’t even have that. Two bowls of instant rice and a used jar of gochujang were all that remained. At least yesterday he had an egg. But he also had a headache, which meant it was lights out after dinner. His stomach growled angrily, as if reprimanding him for is laziness.

Inguk glanced in the direction of his bed with a furrowed brow. He could tap into his emergency funds, but last he checked, there wasn’t much left to withdraw. Evenings out and budget cuts had taken quite a toll this month. He would have to make due. Inguk popped the bowl into the microwave and pushed start before taking his place at the table. The only sound competing with the low hum of the microwave was the rumble of his stomach. Inguk decided to distract himself by reading the nutrition facts along the side of the red pepper jar, but the knock at his door did a better job of it.

Setting the pepper paste down with a clink, Inguk made his way towards his unknown guest. He seldom had those. Visitors hardly ever brought good news however, so he didn’t particularly mind. As a precaution, Inguk looked through the peephole and was greeted with the sight of a fretful looking young man clutching an armful of chip bags to his chest. He hardly seemed a threat, but possibly an annoyance. Inguk wasn’t sure which was worse, but he supposed he would find out.

Cracking the door open, he peered through but kept the chain in place. “Ah…I’m not interested in buying anything,” Inguk said slowly in the uneasy, half-hearted tone he usually reserved for speaking to his boss and fellow officers. “Thanks, for the offer though. Good luck with your sales!”

Frowning at the bags of potato chips in his hands, being reminded of the harsh smells that he would experience at the factory whenever he had to work there, Myungsoo hoped that he'd be able to get rid of them. Especially since he'd been having a lot of awful luck that day at trying to hand them out to people, despite thinking that people would take a bag or two because they would want to try them. But once the other tenants had noticed the flavor, spicy siracha, they all turned him down. And with Inguk being the last person that he could give these to and the only person that Myungsoo could see taking all of these bags away from him, he hoped that this would not be the day where the older man would tell him that he was quitting chips. Even if that was the healthy thing to do and that it was possibly something that Inguk couldn't avoid.

Because it surely couldn't be healthy for the other to eat the amount of chips that he did without facing any negative consequences. And yet, physically he seemed fine every time that Myungsoo had visited, but even then, Myungsoo couldn't help but wonder about the other's cholesterol levels and if he was enabling bad habits onto the guy. Especially since it would be bad if the other had a heart attack because of them.

But even as he thought that, he couldn't help look at the bags once again, knowing that there was going to be no way that he'd be able to eat even one of these... No, he couldn't ignore the possibility of the older man having bad health. Myungsoo quickly decided that he would just have to ask him, just to be safe, that is. He finally rose a fist to the door so that he could knock.

'Knock knock.'
