SKY PEOPLE » Sky People, or Skaikru (Trigedasleng) is a term used by the Grounders to describe a person who came from The Ark. They are also commonly known as Arkers. The Sky People are descendants of humans who survived the nuclear apocalypse 97 years prior because they were already living in space or managed to escape in shuttles. After the Ark's resources began dwindling faster than projected, 100 delinquents were sent to earth to see if it was survivable. When oxygen was beginning to run out, the rest of the Arkers were sent down to earth.
The Sky People vary in appearance and look exactly like common people today. They are able to metabolize high amounts of radiation as a result of advanced genetic engineering and living in space for a prolonged period of time. This ability to filter radiation with no effects on their health makes them essentially immune to any form of radiation poisoning much like the Grounders. The current base for the Sky People is called Arkadia and made from the leftover remnants of the Ark.

TRIKRU (GROUNDERS) » The Woods Clan maintain a hostile relationship toward the Reapers, Mountain Men, and Sky People. In the Grounder way of life - men fight, women lead. Meaning the leaders are women and their warriors are both. Not all Grounders are fighters. Some are healers and some live life regularly like every day society.
The Woods Clan are a group of Grounders that came together after the Armageddon 97 years prior. Most children begin to learn from a young age how to be warriors and are taught English, weapon skills, and their people's customs. After the first kill is made, the member is honored by receiving a mark on their right shoulder blade. This mark signifies that the person is now a warrior and has killed. Oftentimes these markings look like welts on the skin as if burned. If a child is born with a mutation (due to radiation), they are cast out and abandoned to erase the stain from the bloodline.
Woods Clan warriors are known to speak their native language, Trigedasleng and American English (Gonasleng). They are referred to as the "Trikru" in Trigedasleng. Trigedasleng is a universal language spoke by Grounders.

AZGEDA/GROUNDERS » The Azgeda, often called the Ice Nation, are a clan of Grounders that occupy a large stretch of territory. From near the Sky People's territory to the ice in the north.
Like the Trikru, Azgeda are lead by a female leader. She is called the Ice Queen instead of the Commander. However, Azgeda are known to be more ruthless and merciless, often killing their opponents instead of talking. Many Sky People have been slaughtered by the Azgeda because they result to weapons first. They are often recognized by the marks on their face.

Mountain Men » Mountain Men, or Maunon (Trigedasleng), is a term used by the Sky People and the Grounders to describe a person who comes from Mount Weather. The Mountain Men alive today are descendants of humans who survived the nuclear apocalypse 97 years earlier by living inside of Mount Weather. They are responsible for creating Reapers (Grounders injected with the Red Drug and are turned into savage, primal, cannibalistic, and brutal beings, showing no mercy to their victims.
The people living in Mount Weather are unable to leave the safety of their mountain compound because they never adapted to the radiation like the grounders. As a result, they burn whenever any breaches from the outside happen. Due to this, many Mountain Men (in Hazard suits and oxygen tanks) go out and kidnap Grounders and Sky People (with the help of Reapers) to take their blood to heal themselves. Bone marrow from the Sky People are wanted because their life in space with higher levels of radiation in space, allowed them to adapt and their marrow is valuable to the Mountain Men. Those who are injected with the bone marrow are allowed out of the compound without the effects of radiation.
