@lee soohyuk "Well that void is enormous, you have no idea how bad it is now." he said almost coldly, as if it was Soohyuk's fault for that void to only expend. The guard didn't even think of asking of any other item Taehyun had stolen, and there was quite a list, laying in the cave, in various places scattered all over the camp and yet his void was wide open needing to be fed as Soohyuk provoked him more.
Just when Taehyun thought he was getting a grip on his short time in the camp he was losing it all over again, Soohyuk playing him like a violin, going as far as lying to him.
Taehyun wasn't the type to throw fists but he had never wanted to cross that line as much as he did now. He really stepped on his pride to get that apology which turned out useless. He saw no reason why he should make himself discreet anymore, gritting his teeth behing sealed lips. His face was scrunched like an irritated whimsical child and he knew he'd hate it if he looked long enough in Soohyuk's eyes and saw his reflection. He sadly didn't unlock his jaw soon enough to talk back before the guard had left, the whispers irated him.
"Swapping the supervision of my folks to live under your repented values... That's something I won't see happening."
The next weeks would be so eventful Taehyun might just get his parents and this camp to give up on him he thought, darting away in pure frustration. He needed to steal something before he'd even go to sleep, anything that would be reported early in the morning so as to wake Soohyuk up to the kind of kid he'd see around.
@nam taehyun "Oh, I do. The point is that I don't want to do it for you." Soohyuk simply stated. If he had to cover for the other more than a few times, there would be more problems popping up. In the end, if people didn't think he was effective, why would they owner keep his contract? The smirk on his lips seemed to grow a little more each time he said something. "I think you already have that problem, Taehyun. I think you try to take from others to fill the void that you don't have." The taller said, tilting his head to the side. No matter how much the younger tried, it would take a lot more than just talking to change his view of him being childish. "Don't give yourself too much credit. I made this choice on my own after being put in juvy. Which, let's face it, I'd end up there anyways. It was just bull that I took double the sentence." He laughed, twisting his wrist out of the other's grasp. It was cute, though. The way Taehyun pretended as if he knew Soohyuk better than himself. "I'd trust you with a lot more if you'd knock this off. You really want to tell your parents to off? Prove them wrong. Show them you aren't some little who does what he wants for attention. Show them... you don't need them." The last few words he couldn't help but whisper. Sadly, he did care more than he ever wanted to admit. With a quick breath, he took a few steps back and shook his head slightly to clear his thoughts once more.
"See you around, kid." Soohyuk called out as he turned and walked away, hoping the next few weeks could be a little less eventful.
@lee soohyuk Soohyuk wouldn't make it any easier, that wasn't his intention and thus the little thief almost regretted he put himself through some self-consideration.
"I bet you know very well how to fake an investigation and to avoid drawing attention so what do you care if I were to get caught anyway?"
He was pushing a little again, irritated to see that his mentor didn't even think he could put some effort into it. To say he was a bane was maybe a little excessive, but Taehyun was flattered by the comment. He who depended on his parents so much; he who apparently didn't steal big enough to be worthy of Soohyuk's time actually made a difference in the latters's life; it wouldn't take long for Taehyun to take credit after making amends of course. Their eyes were forced to meet again, as if Soohyuk needed to see something shattered in his, as if he was looking for some satisfaction into Taehyun's uneasiness.
Taehyun scoffed lightly despite how condescendingly Soohyuk talked to him, offering him to tutor him into being a good boy now.
"I did follow you a lot." he said, his gaze soft at the memories. "But that doesn't mean I would follow you down this path. You do know it's not happiness I seek by envying others." He didn't want the most expensive, he wanted what counted the most. "And against all odds, I understand I nudged you into quitting the bad boy life and finding that occupation you like so much right?"
Taehyun's still cold hand pulled on the other's wrists, trying to get Soohyuk to stop seeing him as some kind of kid anymore. Sure it wasn't his doing directly, but he did let his parents deal with his life rather than rebelling fully. "I did my share of good and I lost a mentor so I will just watch you do some good. I never thought you'd rock anything better than over expensive brands but here we are."
He no longer wanted to be protected, his parents sickened him and Soohyuk just added up to their cause it seemed. "Besides what would you trust me with?"
@nam taehyun While part of him felt good for making the Taehyun step back into his place, he felt sad for his former friend. For so long, he dreamed of knocking the younger down a peg or two and now? He felt worse than before. The apology felt a little more genuine, but Soohyuk held that hope since Tae was good at lying as well as petty theft. The fact that there was no eye contact pretty much confirmed his belief. It was hard not to take personal, but it was just a part of this job. "Somehow, I doubt that. People are still going to complain about you stealing their things. I've got to fake an investigation and try to find a way to shut them up." He reminded the shorter male, knowing that it's easy to forget the repercussions of thievery. When Taehyun stepped back, Soohyuk only furrowed his brows in confusion before chuckling softly. "I'm not going to pepper spray you, even if you currently are the bane of my existence." He said with a slight smirk, knowing that at the end of it all he was the one in charge. Even when the younger asked to leave, he only shook his head and stepped closer. Reaching up to cup the other's cheek, he lifted his chin to make their eyes meet once more. "You can live a happy life without stealing from innocent people. You don't need to be such a bad boy all the time." Soohyuk all but whispered, hoping to somehow get through to the kid. "If you ever want to try to do some good, come find me."
@lee soohyuk The accusation hit Taehyun right where pride could hurt. All this time he did not imagine his bailing out early meant for Soohyuk to cope for both, and yet he felt quite dumb for not even suspecting his selfish and busy parents wouldn't try just anything to clean their name. He didn't even suspect the older one to be lying to him here. If he usually didn't give a damn about the consequences of his acts, the discomfort of knowing Soohyuk paid for his action troubled him, his head lowering, hair hiding his squinting eyes and persisting frown. Oh this was bad for his stay in that camp: he owed Soohyuk, in more ways than he could account.
Taehyun flinched slightly when the taller one leant in so close, he was no more in peace next to Soohyuk. Though it didn't seem like the guard planned on taking some kind of revenge, he could only feel reassured it would only be two weeks.
"For what's worth, I had no idea and I'm sorry about that." he said, feeling like any apology would be disregarded and he'd be even more hurt to look like a fool before his -ex- mentor. "I guess I can smooth your sailing while you're here." He said maybe a little too thrilled he wouldn't have to face Soohyuk again if he put some effort. This was his way to be forgiven, maybe even forgotten. But that was a bet he had never won. He stepped away hesitantly, his eyes on the pepper spray, just hoping he wouldn't have to make impossible amends to Soohyuk in the remaining time. All he wanted was to let it pass and act as if he didn't owe Soohyuk; he had no code to live by and he didn't need one. "Am I free to go?" he asked, visibly uneasy and totally disregarding consequences once again.
@nam taehyun "You know what being 'on top' got me?" Soohyuk said, no longer willing to show any emotion with his words. It was easy to tell everything that left his lips riled the younger up. "It got me two years, because I decided to hang out with a child who had mummy and daddy bail him out." It was true, and nothing annoyed him more. This little chump acted like he was the coolest kid on the block, when in reality? He'd only take huge risks if someone was there to take the fall for him in case the task was too big for his parents. It was easy to tell since Taehyun was only stealing small things that would only get him a slap on the wrist. Typical. "You speak as if you know my company or what I'm fully doing here? You think I'm going to stay here all summer?" Soohyuk scoffed with a slight smirk, finding it cute the smaller was clinging to the thought of them still being 'friends'. After pulling his cuffs out and stuffing them into his back pocket, he let one hand rest on the top of his pepper spray before bending down slightly to look the younger in his eyes. "I'll be here for a week, maybe two. I'm here to scout everyone and guesstimate how many other security guards will be needed. After that? I move on to my next contract." Sure, it may have been a little harsh. But what else was he going to do when this little decided it was a good idea to over step his boundaries.
@lee soohyuk Though the insult was meant to described what Soohyun used to be, Taehyun was irritated to hear the latter talk that way about his younger self; it made him see two different people bearing the face of Soohyuk: the past one he was friends with and the new one who acted like he wanted to be so rightful he looked like a fool of a sheep. Taehyun raised a brow, his faint smile barely dropping as the other claimed he'd get over him. It was already hard to not give up on the idea he had of the older one, but Taehyun shrugged the disappointment off, his arms dropping to his sides since no cuffs were needed after all. Oh he would comply, he needed to so as to scratch the other a little more, see how dense he was into that job of his.
He watched the other pull out a cigarette and remembered how he'd usually only smoke tobacco when he'd need a time out. Taehyun's eyes still watched him closely, as if a detail on Soohyuk would give the word out on why he'd change from that fun and idealistic young man who strode in alluring ways, leaving a young a blond Taehyun in awe most of the time back in the day.
The advice was somewhat pertinent to Taehyun's appreciation, challenging him, to say the least, into being a better thief but only so that they wouldn't need to meet so often. Now that hurt and a wrinkle appeared between Taehyun's eyebrows, his nose faintly scrunched up. His sight fell to the floor as they made their way out and he walked by cautiously, only minding his footsteps on the slippery rocks while he wondered if he should rejoice about the fact that he was encouraged to continue and be discreet or stomp on the floor in a childish whim to not be ignored and avoided. He stopped and the hand let got of his sleeve and looked at Soohyuk, his persisting frown only hinting on how he was realy to mess more with this new figure of authority.
"Well that sounds cute, but I'm not buying. You were on the ing top, you could drive a bentley and even belong in that sickening wealth, you could beat the crap out of some punks and you did it so well they'd think they actually deserved it; you had it all."
Taehyun's voice did not waver, but his stare softened as he talked, because he comforted himself with each word about what he remembered of Soohyuk, destroying whatever act the other was trying to feed him.
"Sure, getting paid to drag my surrendering out of a gloomy cave is a crime itself, but I don't see a world where that kind of twist lasts. I'll make sure you get paid for doing nothing and by that I mean not having to investigate me, unless I feel a little bad to see you just swindle money out of my fellow campers for doing nothing."
This sounded like a threat, the first he ever issued against Soohyuk and he did feel his fingertips tingle a little at the risk he was taking there, but he needed to wake his friend in there. He had no time to judge whatever Soohyuk claimed he had become, he just needed his friend and mentor back, by any mean necessary.
@nam taehyun Soohyuk could feel that this wasn't the gathering Taehyun was hoping for, and he didn't quite care. The past was just that, and nothing more. If he focused too long, he'd start reliving the old days which led to him drinking a little bit more than usual. It was almost becoming too much, looking down at the younger and seeing the admiration in his eyes. "Look, you need to stop whatever you're thinking. Whatever it is, I'm a different person now. I'm not the same scrawny that stole Christmas presents out cars." He finally uttered out, almost feeling as if he let the other down. "I'll get over the time I did for you." Was what he left it out, intentionally ignoring the apology which never felt quite genuine. When the younger put out his wrists, Soohyuk simply scoffed and pulled a cigarette out of his silver case before lighting it. After a few quick puffs, he simply run his fingers through his hair with a loud sigh. There was no point in cuffing the other, especially after he'd trained the kid to get out of the cheap cuffs he had.
The security guard sat in silence for a moment, trying to let the other's words roll off his shoulders. To show emotion would just add fuel to the first. "No, you'll call me nothing. You're going to stay out of trouble, or at least steal well enough to not get caught. You were never an amateur, just lazy." After taking the last drag of his cigarette and flicking the but in the water, he reached out and grabbed the other by his sleeve. While he wasn't gentle, Soohyuk made sure not to completely man handle Taehyun as they exited the cave. Once out in the open, he let go and took a step away. "I don't care about my past anymore. You can preach it to the world, and no one will care either. I do my job well, and get paid handsomely to keep the little s in line. Judge me however you wish." Was his final answer, wanting the younger to see just how much everything had changed. He wasn't the same guy, nor would he ever be.
@lee soohyuk Taehyun frowned lightly as he realized Soohyuk wouldnt joke. He was not only as contentious as before, he was now also serious about his job in enforcement. While he only meant to look at his old friend closely, Soohyuk kept hands on his equipment and although nothing would really keep Taehyun from stealing from Soohyuk, he felt a little hurt to be apprehended this way by someone he admired. He could feel flattered because he wasn't as tiny as he used to be but it was nothing next to his counterpart who was likely to excel in any kind of enterprise.
Taehyun's lips curled almost innocently as he was reminded of how unfairly he was saved last time he saw Soohyuk. For someone who was eager to prove he could get things on his own, he was far from even trying to get rid of the immunity his parents provided. The other was obviously bitter, leading Taehyun to wonder what kind of treatment the older male had gotten while he was sentenced to just stay home, what got the great Soohyuk to turn in, if it was a total brainwash that interested him in wearing this uniform or the fact that the pay came in promptly for looking stern while busting delinquents.
"You always were." Taehyun said, still looking at Soohyuk like the mentor he used to see in him. He used to see him as an enemy because Soohyuk could do anything and even stealing he did better than him. But in the same time he was also a friend he could confide in or relate to if he wasn't up to talking.
Taehyun slowly moved hands up accepting to be escorted out this soon, because this place inly held the food and drink he had stolen. His loot was scattered in the cave and throughout the camp so he was still better off nailed for a part of it.
"But I /am/ sorry. I wish I could have gotten you out too." he presented his wrists to the other, suggesting he was ready to be cuffed. He was usually the type to refuse such treatments, mocking anyone trying to tie him for the fact that he wasn't a heavy weight nor that much of a fast runner. But he was looking forward to interrogating Soohyuk although he was the only accused.
"So how amazing is it to run after /kids/ in caves?" he asked, regretting it sounded this sarcastic. All he doubted was that Soohyuk was having more fun working than he did while braving dangers for thrills. "I thought I'd see you again in prison someday when my parents would stop covering. I think I'd still prefer that reality." he added frowning lightly. "What happened, Soohyuk? Or am I supoosed to call you sir in here to hide your past?" this time he made sure to at least look aggravated because he was willing to play nice.
@nam taehyun Soohyuk simply grinned at the mention of the metal cuffs in his pocket. It took a little too much self restraint not to make it into a ual joke. Instead he simply wagged his finger at he other in a, rather sad, attempt to show disappointment. When the younger moved, the taller male instantly inched back with one hand over the cuffs and the other covering the pepper spray he was forced to carry. With the muscle mass he had, it was simple to pin someone down but he didn't want that little snake to get a hold of it. "If your parents cut you off, it would be about damn time. You know how ty it is to rot in a cell for double time since you weaseled your way out of it?" The security guard almost snapped back, instantly showing just how salty he was from the past situation. It was mainly the fact that he never got to confront the younger, which meant it wasn't forgiven just yet. "Maybe if you weren't so spoiled, you'd learn how amazing it can feel to earn things. And I don't meant putting in work to steal them." The taller said after standing up and straightening out his leather jacket. It took him back to a bad place, watching the other sit next to a pile of stolen goods. For a second he couldn't help but think.. maybe it was his fault Taehyun became this way? Those thoughts went out the window as soon as the younger basically called him a fool. "I'm your worst enemy, kid. Now get out of here, and at least pretend like your sorry. I know it's your favorite thing to do." Soohyuk mumbled, not taking his eyes off the smaller for even a second.
@lee soohyuk Taehyun had to keep in a giggle that made him scoff at the other's preference, failing to be mature before even knowing who was that authority figure before him.
"Alright, you're not into nuts, but really handcuffs?" he asked sounding bothered when he was actually amused by it all. Surrendering had to be fun to him or he'd have to step up his game and make his tracks disappear. Still he watched the nut box float away and he felt a little bothered knowing it would be another night being asked about his conduct, his motives and his apologies.
And although the other's mumbles reminded him of a time when he was in the local police office every day, Taehyun really got a hint when he was recognized his chin lifted up. He gazing at the security guard blankly and suddenly moved forward, crossing his legs to lean in-between them. This man often shared his cell, to the point they were involved in a few misfits together, good times, farther now that Soohyuk was wearing the enemy's outfit.
His lips stretched in a thin smile, keeping his hands to himself rather than absentmindedly trying to reach for the cuffs just yet. "If my parents cut me off then I'd have all reasons to steal. They still don't want to be accomplices in my doings, so much for being a family.." he said, his eyes never leaving the older male although he squinted them a little.
"But you, know better than anyone that there's nothing like consuming something that isn't yours. There's nothing like trespassing, my dear mentor."
He used to watch Soohyuk, to follow him around in town discreetly until the older male would stop whatever he was doing to ask him to go home already. Eventually they were caught doing bad things together and he never new what happened after his parents would just pay and sign him out before Soohyuk, until he did not find him at all in town. Until this day, that is.
"If I knew you'd be the one to follow me around some day, I would have made it harder to find me."
He smiled with true respect and admiration. "If I'm a fool, what are you in those clothes?"
@nam taehyun It took a minute for his eyes to adjust a little more, allowing him to use the flashlight to show where he was stepping. It wasn't until he heard a voice that he looked up. "No... nuts aren't my thing." Soohyuk mumbled, using his other hand to fish the cuffs out of his back pocket and slip them into the front for easier access. The sound of a constant drip did nothing but annoy him just a bit more than the kids attitude. While getting closer, he took the other's warning and ducked his head before finally being able to get a look at everything that had been missing. "You assume I care about who you are. It's more for me, so I don't have to involve any police officers and do paper work." Soohyuk mumbled before raising his brow once he got a closer look at the smaller male. He sounded sort of familiar, and his aura was giving him an awkward feeling. Crouching down, he shut the box of cashews and tossed it carelessly in the water. Only to reach out and place a finger under the younger's chin to lift his head. One look and he couldn't help but burst out in laughter. "Taehyun, you fool." He said, trying not to fall over in a fit. There was no way to mistake this kids looks. He knew exactly who he was dealing with, and it made more sense then ever. "Why are you stealing food, huh? Parents finally figured out what a little rebel you are and cut you off? You know they feed you three meals a day." The security guard chuckled, the grin still wide on his face.
@lee soohyuk The humidity never did good with electronics and luckily he never needed to steal then hide those kind of goods. Taehyun could afford the newest and rarest technology so the cave was quite a nice hideout for whatever his eyes would fancy. He hanged in there alone past curfew giving in eating some snacks he had fetched in the day. Meals were irrelevant, looked unappealing when he could steal the confiscated food and feast in his hideout. Oh it wasn't the easiest place to hang in late at night when the water itself held more light than the moistened rock walls. But like some albino creature, Taehyun took the time he needed and crawled in there to enjoy his new and older findings throughout rooms. Silence was deafening so the tiniest noise in the cave had him perfectly aware of another presence and this was no bat. This was a cautious man walking in, knowing he was in there for some reason and Taehyun felt a little hurt to know he'd have to relocate, to know someone was at least as smart as he for finding him.
He made no sound at first, the voice echoing in a way that made it hard to figure why it was this familiar. He tried to imagine it without the echo, almost soft mutters in the dark, even more familiar but too old to put a name on it. He looked at the circular halo lighting up a restricted field of vision and he didn't even try to run away. This room was the antichamber for the food and drinks he had come across, he wouldn't fight to keep the goods he would barely touch himself.
"Cashew?"
His voice was low, unimpressed and he remained sitting against a wall, the Cashew box dangling shortly against his knee to signal his position, as if he meant to be found out. He was always and remained prompt to confess entirely to what he did, and it usually saved him from juvy.
"Careful with your head if you come over" he even warned, sharing his intention to not move just yet. His eyes wandered down, lowering his head to hide his face from that nasty light which would definitely blind him if he was to lool straight at it.
"I suppose you don't know who I am to even suppose I could be consuming drugs in here. And yet for some reason you sound like someone who knows this on a personal level."
It was a long reach but he liked the idea that only his own could figure him out. Besided drugs were never his thing, he was only a thief; he stole some because drugs mess with its rightful owner, period.
@nam taehyun After being at this camp for a few weeks, Soohyuk already knew there was an issue with certain items coming up missing. Luckily it was nothing of his, since he hid it throughout the place instead of locking it in a safe. If the safe wasn't drilled to the floor, or over hundreds of pounds there was no point. He'd asked around for days, being a subtle in the beginning until he'd narrowed it down to a very small list of suspects. While he didn't have names, or even paid attention to them, he focused on description and the main places the kids would hang out. Eventually he followed a trail into some secluded caves, which seemed like the perfect place for a rebel to make their hang out. One way in and one way out also meant being able to apprehend him if needed. Ruffling his dark hair, the twenty-six year old called out into the hallow entrance. "Hello? If you've got drugs or alcohol, toss 'em now." He said with a slight grin, only to blink when his deep voice seemed to echo through out the cave. Without hearing a reply at first, he entered cautiously and pulled the flashlight out of his utility belt. Once he knew it was dark enough for it, he switched it on and began to look a little bit closer at everything.
