〈 ☼; FOREST

forest

For trail riding and refreshing hikes. The old garbage dump is back here, and some say it haunts the forest. But don't worry, it only happens at night.

@y. bora [] Okay, so I red your profile and the plot either ^^v Well, it's great <3 I hope you don't mind me replying :')

Her father's yelling made her woke up from her deep slumber, eyes are being rubbed while a soft yawn escaped from her lips. Irene always had the time dealing with her father's yells and punishments; she won't mind actually but as soon as she grow older, things changed the way it used to be. Crawling out of her bed, she sighed, her sisters are not yet home. "What a bummer." she whispered upon tying her hair up in a ponytail. Her sisters promised to be home this day, she thought, but is practically used with broken promises after the very day her mom passed away.

Her father yelled- ordered something that Irene didn't even understood. Basically, she knows that it talks about her staying inside the house without anything been done, how lazy she is, or how she really don't care about anything her father did in their ranch a village far from theirs, or what's worst? Why is she the daughter been given to them. She knew she was bad luck, she knew she is the reason of her mother's death; Irene's heart was stone, but how come it softens when it talks about her mother?

It was long ago-- 16 years ago as her mother passed away. Everything was blurry as it happened; all she remembered was the face of her mother, covered up with blood, smiling unto her and mouthed "I love you" before she died; screeches and cries were the music to that memory, all she did was to cry and shake her mother up and thought that she was gone to sleep. Wow, how come she remember it by then? At that time, she thought of it as a nightmare, dragging her down to the past; things weren't clear up to now, she was puzzled but she never dare to ask what really happened. If so, she could've been killed by his very own father; it's better to keep shut.

"Hey, Irene!" a villager, whom her acquaintance, greeted her as she approached towards Irene, hands waved up in the air. It was a while after her father left in their house since he got to visit their ranch, and all chores are done. Irene had nothing to do by now, so she sat infront of their doorstep, smiling as she watched the little kids play. "Mind to play with us? Come on, it'll be fun!" The invitation was quite a welcome for her, but she shook her head, smiling unto the villager before patting its head. She's not that type of villager who gets along well with people; she stays indoors most of the time and is practically shy to bond with someone else. "Sorry, but Irene needs to go and pick berries in the forest. maybe next time, okay?" she excused. 'Picking berries sounds nice', she thought, making her grab her small basket and her hat hanged and paved her way through the forest.

The forest was Irene's hideout- well, it's her second home, to be exact. Irene loves to swim in the very clear waters of the lake, pick berries or hunt some insects out to be played with her sisters. How memories were still fresh; it's been a long time since she spend time with her sisters, wondering if they'll be able to come home and run away with her to the city. It was the best escape plan Irene can think off right now; living in their very house is hard, she's not treated as a daughter, worse is she's a slave.

Upon seeing those bushes of berries just a few steps away, Irene was taken aback, hand clutching unto the basket while the other's on her head, holding the hat as tight as she can as the strong wind passes by. She know she's not alone after hearing the rattling of the stones not so far away. Her curiosity kicks in. She could've thought it was a predator or something but upon hearing splashes from the stream, she knew someone's in trouble. She can't barely look down or else she'll fall; what should Irene do? Thinking of a way out, she grabbed a stone throwing it down as she try not to hit who else is there, shouting "H-hello? I-is anyone down there?"

Her father and grandfather had both ganged up on her when she was back on the farm, saying that instead of being cooped up in her apartment or helping on the farm while she waited to be assigned someone she should go out. Explore the town, make new friends, take a walk in the beautiful forest, fall in love. Bora knows how shy she can get in front of strangers and so exploring the town, making friends, and falling in love would have to wait for another day. She was only left with one choice going to the forest. The memories were vague but with a close of her eyes she could remember the trail that her parents had walked her down together, the strong yet gentle hold of her father's hand in one and the soft warm hold of her mother's in the other. The way the sun would peek through the leaves and branches when it rose in the morning and set at night. Bora would have never imagined that she would be walking through these trails again yet here she was, steps slow and dragged as her head constantly looked around at her surroundings. Keeping her hands gripped around the straps of her backpack as she continued to walk a small soft smile grown on her face as her eyes had picked up familiar sites.

Time was a funny thing even though the split of her parents had changed all their lives the trees around this area had never changed at all, everything was still the same. The two trees that appeared to be embracing each other were still tightly embraced together, the blue and orange bird feeder still was attached to the tree which stood in the small like meadow, the small patches of irises still traced down the path, and the huge boulder like stone still sat at the fork in the path. Bora's hand pulled away from the strap and brushed over the rock's curved edges, her fingers following any dents that were made into the stone.

"I wonder.... If it's still there?" Bora had said to herself softly as the wave of a blurred memory played in her mind. Her hand lifted off the rock and found its way back onto the strap gripping at as she picked up her pace taking the farthest path to her right. The sand and pebbles at her feet could be heard as her boots dug into them with each fast step she took. Yes, she could remember it now the rocks by the stream that had been engraved with her name along with her parents. The heart which had encircled the three names, the wish to return there again, and the laughter of her parents that had filled the air at the backwards 'B' she had written. Bora had always thought that she had covered from the separation yet she was confused as to why her heart ached so much, why it yearned so much for the love of a happy family again, and why this was all happening now. Maybe it's because Bora had returned back to this place which cause the trigger of these feelings and memories but this thought swept away as she could hear the lapping of the stream, brushing her hair back she walked through the trees walking her steps as she stepped on the mossy rocks. Bora's mother would have told her to slow down knowing how clumsy she would be when she was in a hurrying unfortunately, her mother was there, no one was there.

Her feet slipped causing Bora yell out and lost her balance falling on her back and with the slight slope along with the mossy rocks she continued to slide down. Hands reached up and grabbed onto a stable rock, she stopped herself but she was in shock as she didn't expect to fall down. Deep inhales and exhales leaved her lips as her thoughts gathered and looked around her, seeing the dirt on her pants she sighed heavily. A wince was made she tried to get up, face plastered with pain as she stared down at her ankle moving it only slightly which still called her to make a sound of pain.

"Well this is just ing great." She cursed out in anger and as much pain her ankle was in she carefully adjusted herself to sit in a better position, taking off her bag and getting out her phone her first instinct was to call her father but she had no service. She had forgotten that she had to go change phone companies as moving here would cause the service on her phone not to work. Another heavy sigh left her as she closed her eyes in frustration, opening them she looked around. She had no idea what to do so for a few minutes she just sat there and then she took a few small rocks and threw it in the stream just a couple feet below her, the frustration in her could be read as each rock plunged into the water with a loud splash. Subconsciously Bora was scared and she was hoping that anyone passing by would hear her.
