A Millionaire and His Baby

@LadyOfGalifrey Calvin chuckled. "I don't eat broccoli, either," he said. He looked up at her and nodded. "I'm sure it'll be okay. I mean, it's only a few days, after all...but wait, gimme you number in case an emergency comes up or if I don't know what to do. But, it should be okay. He doesn't seem troublesome or anything." He looked at the little boy, then stood. He put out his hand for the child to take. "Say bye to mom, okay?"

@TokidokiHelloKitty Her son nodded slowly and looked to his mother for clarification before affirming the questions with another nod. "First grade." He answered and she bent down to kiss his cheek to help relax the child. Feeling bolstered, Aiden held up his hand to Calvin with all five fingers up. "He hasn't had lunch yet so I'm guessing he is hungry. He likes pretty much everything except broccoli and beans." She explained as she hugged her son one last time. "Are you two going to be alright?"

@LadyOfGalifrey "Oh, school?" said Calvin. He kneeled down again and looked at Aiden. "You go to school, buddy?" he ruffled his hair, "Do you like school? What grade will you be in next year, huh?" Calvin then looked back up at her. "Uh, how old is he again?" he asked. He smiled at Aiden. "How old are you, buddy?" He grinned. Calvin then took out his phone to check it. "Whoa, noon already? Has he eaten yet? You hungry, Aiden?"

@TokidokiHelloKitty With a smile she held up her hand in silent surrender, letting Calvin take the lead and the bag. It was at least a small relief that he was willing to accept even just the idea of Aiden, even if there weren't going to be any serious long term connections. "Thank you and no. He has no allergies and he's been potty trained for years now." She said as she ruffled the boy's hair and he smiled proudly. "He's currently in break from school right now but I try to get him to read at least one book a day. His favorites are in the bag. Sometimes I try to get some math in and on a few occasions I've gotten into a couple other subjects but reading is the easiest. Don't feel pressured to do it though."

@LadyOfGalifrey "Don't worry, I got this, okay?" said Calvin, "Have you forgotten that I have two little brothers I used to watch whenever my parents were..." He silently mouthed the words "Stoned and blackout drunk." He took the bag. "Okay," he said, "Thanks. Uh, wait, before you go, uh...like what is he allergic to? Anything? Also...do I like...have to change him or something? Like, does he mess himself or anything?" He looked at the little boy, just hoping he wouldn't be too much trouble. He had too much work to do and was too tired to end up dealing with alot.

@TokidokiHelloKitty The little boy looked at Calvin curiously for a few seconds and then started to fidget with his stuffed bear. It was obvious he didn't know what to say or do and he was uncomfortable with the other male. He just wanted to stay with his mother and he gave her a small pleading look as she nudged him again towards the man. "Yeah. That's ok." He said softly though he really didn't mean it.

"I will be back soon, tiger." She said with a smile as she bent down and hugged her son tightly, kissing the side of his head. His small arms wrapped around her, still clutching the bear until she let him go again. "You be good and I will have a surprise for you, promise." With that she stood again and handed a bag of clothes and toys over to Calvin. "Everything he needs should be in here."

@LadyOfGalifrey Aww, darn, he was a cute kid. Calvin bit his lip a bit to keep from becoming soft. "Hey, Aiden," he said gently, offering a small wave as well. Geeze, why did he have to always bee so awkward and bad at socializing? He knelt down to the child's level. "I'm Calvin," he said, not wanting to call himself 'dad' just yet. He ruffled the boy's head gently. "I'll be babysitting you for a few days, okay?" He smiled at him. "Don't worry, it'll be fun."

@TokidokiHelloKitty As much as she wanted to fight him about it, she had to admit he did have a right to know. It never occurred to her that he would really care as long as the little one was kept out of his hair. Calvin had changed so much she had last seen him and she had no idea how to treat him anymore. Whatever they had was long gone and the only thing between them now was their son but she wasn't sure how to approach the subject with him.

"His name is Aiden." Said quietly and smiled down at the boy, moving her fingers through his brown hair soothingly. Aiden looked up at her and then peered at Calvin shyly. "Don't be scared, sweetie. Say hello." The woman urged him forward a step gently and the child looked back at her before offering a small wave to the man who was his father.

@LadyOfGalifrey Calvin could tell she was hurt. He bit his lip before mumbling. "I never said you had to pay me. I just wanted to know if he was mine. I have the right to know if there's a little me walking around or not. That means he's half mine. And, if I am the dad...maybe you shouldn't have kept it a secret from me for all this long. You could've at least told me. That's all I meant. And, I'm not the same as you remember me. Trust me. You don't know yet, but I'll prove it." He let out a little sigh. "So...what did you name him?" he said, looking at the child, who was now hiding his face behind his teddy bear. Well, this kid was admittingly pretty darn adorable.

@TokidokiHelloKitty A pissing contest was the last thing she had meant when she tried to explain she was fine and not at all in need of him financially but his little display made things abundantly clear he didn't want to play ball. She was regretting the fact that she needed him at all and the fact that he was acting like such a spoiled kid about the whole thing only pissed her off more. It was a rude reminder of how stupid she had been in her youth for sleeping with him in the first place and she was tempted to just walk away, even from her job to avoid dealing with him again.

"I don't exactly have time to get a paternity test, Calvin. I don't have proof because I never had access to your DNA for that anyway and I never thought I would need it." She said quietly, equally hurt and upset by his attitude. "Look. I'm not asking you to be a dad. I'm not asking you to be in his life or my life at all beyond just caring for him for a couple of days. I don't even want to be here but I'm out of options. I will even pay you for your time and compensate you for everything he eats. Can you please just look out for him and make sure he doesn't die? That's all I need and I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important."

@LadyOfGalifrey Calvin rolled his eyes. "I /am/ an adult. For your information, I've had several websites that I used to make money on after we last saw each other, also I'm skilled in computers and have managed to build one on my own, the one I currently use. I also have been on trips around the world, have lived in various places, each of which I paid for my rent and everything all on my own. I moved out of my parent's house when I was 19. And, in case you didn't know, I'm a self-made millionaire and have made a stable career working from home. All since after we saw each other last. Don't just assume stuff about me. And, again, I still don't have proof he is mine. Give me proof first, please, before we go an further. Please. It's my right to know for certain that without a doubt he is mine or not."

@TokidokiHelloKitty His shock wasn't a surprise and it was actually to be expected so she took that quite well but when he accused her of doing something on purpose she only sighed. Chewing the inside of her cheek, she gave him a look that said 'You should know me better than that' but was otherwise quiet on the subject. Getting into an argument with him wasn't going to change anything and she actually had no intention of trying to stay in his life anyway.

"I didn't tell you before because you were not at all prepared to deal with parenthood. I didn't want to drop that on you and derail your life when I could handle it by myself, that wouldn't have been fair." She said calmly, hoping that cool reason would bring his tensions down enough to not freak out the kid. "Up until now I had done really well. Put myself through college, locked down a good job that provides well enough for me and my son for a few years now. Trust me, if I didn't desperately need this I wouldn't even have asked. Can you please pretend to be an adult for a couple of days while I go out of town? That's really all it is."

@LadyOfGalifrey WHAT?! No way in hell was /he/ a dad, especially to some random kid he hadn't ever seen before! What? He was only 21 for 's sake, how can he be a father? His life has barely begun. Besides, he was busy with videos. He had stuff to do! He can't be a dad now.

Calvin shook his head. "No, no, no. You're not going to dump some random child on me. We don't even have proof he's mine. Sure, he's a cute kid and all, but he can't be mind. I mean, sure, we /used/ to fool around in the past, but there's no way we could've...you said you were on the pill! Did you not take it to trap me?" Then, he thought about it. "Wait, if you're trying to trap me, why wait until now? I mean, he can stand on his own now, so it's been at least...uh...a few years? Wait, if he's really mine, why didn't you tell me before?"

@TokidokiHelloKitty Anger in her flared as he indicated the boy beside her and she had to fight off the urge to smack him over the head though she really wanted to. This immature display not only in appearance but also in his actions confirmed that she had made the right choice in getting as far away from him as possible when she became pregnant. Calvin hadn't even been boyfriend material and inwardly she truly regretted that he was the father but there wasn't anything she could do about it now. Instead, she simply glared at him and shook her head as she tried to keep a civil tongue with him.

"That," she began, emphasizing the word. "Is your son and he's a pretty great little human being so maybe try to be nice." The woman reached down and ruffled the little boy's dark locks as she gave him a small loving smile. It pained her to have to leave him but she couldn't take him on her business trip and she had no one else to watch him. "I need you to watch him for a few days so I can go out of town for work."

@LadyOfGalifrey Calvin yawned. "What?" he said quietly to himself. He stood and slipped into his blue flip flops. He rubbed his eyes. Damn, it had been a long time since he had last heard that voice. What could she possibly be here for? "I'm coming!" he called. He went to answer the door. He was wearing grey sweatpants and a blue t shirt with the Vault Boy from the Fallout video games on it. His brown hair was a mess, more so than usual, from sleep. He had dark rings still under his eyes from tiredness. His skin looked awful, too. He looked a wreck, to be quite honest. He opened the door. "Yeah?" he asked. His chocolate brown eyes widened with shock when he saw the small child present. "Uh...what's that?" he asked, pointing to the kid.

@TokidokiHelloKitty The rain that had been threatening to erupt overhead started to slowly let loose its droplets, drizzle falling from the sky and dampening the two figures outside the door. From there she could hear the groan inside and she cursed under her breath at just how lazy Calvin was being. That in and of itself was why she had kept the child next to her a secret from him. As soon as those tests came back positive she had known to cut him out because there was no way he would be able to handle it. The only reason she was standing there waiting for him was because she had been out of options.

"Calvin! Open up! Now. I know you're in there." She said loudly as she pounded on his door again, using her mommy voice.

It was just another day for Calvin. He had just finished editing a video, and now it was rendering. You see, he was a Youtuber. His actual occupation was making videos and uploading them to Youtube for people's entertainment. But, now he was tired. He knew it would take hours to render, because it always did. He yawned and rubbed his eyes and decided to take a little nap.

Turns out a little nap ended up being 10 whole hours! It would have been more, too. It should have been more, because he hadn't been sleeping recently. But, then there was a loud knock at the door. It snapped him awake. He groaned. Maybe if he kept quiet, whoever it was would go away.
