@park jungwoo when jungeun was 6 years old, she remembers her parents sitting by her side and helping her build a sand castle right by the shore. she remembers vividly the sounds of her parents laughter as they watched her scoop up sand with her bare hands and giggle as she placed it over the castle. jungeun remembers her dad holding her carefully dipping her into the waters, her squeals as she felt the water touch her skin.
jungeun can remember it all so clearly, it's as if it happened only yesterday.
the warmth that bloomed in her chest was so sweet, so lovely, she almost forgot when she opened her eyes, she wasn't there with her parents anymore. the sun wasn't shining over her skin, the only thing accompanying her currently was the moon and its ominous glow. as if it was judging her for the decisions she was making, as if it was judging her for selfishly wanting to see them again. if she was the moon, she would probably judge and criticize herself as well.
jungeun lowers herself into the waters, the cold overwhelming her senses, trying to wake herself up from the sweet memories of the past. she sinks deeper and deeper until she's completely submerged into the water, holding her breath and squeezing her eyes shut. in the water, she couldn't see anything, couldn't hear anything but the beating of her own heart. it was if the world she lived in was fading out of view, and in its place something beautiful was being born.
maybe the moon thought of her as pathetic as she stood up from the waters again, inhaling deeply. after all, for someone who likes to make others feel happy, she's an utter failure at making herself happy.
as she turns she notices someone there, instead of crying and screaming like she desperately wants to, to swear at the moon and his harsh judgement on her, she smiles instead.
