Q: Is Atlantis a city, a country, an island or a continent?
A: Yes. Atlantis is all of that all at once. The country itself consists of a single city which is on an island that is now it’s own continent floating high over the earth. It does not remain stationary but rather roams the skies at the whims of the leaders which makes it even harder to locate at times.
Q: Who is in charge of Atlantis?
A: The Powers That Be - The ruling council of Atlantis with one representative from each of the races who oversee the governance of the country. They make the laws, enact them, and enforce the punishments for breaking them.

Q: Who are The Powers That Be and how does one become one?
A: As of right now their identities are secret but to be on the council, that creature must have been voted in by a majority of their species (who voted). If we get enough people, we can hold elections and make our own PTB who will then decide the fates of their species and the city.

Q: What is the city like?
A: The main city of Atlantis is a bustling, high-tech city like Tokyo, Seoul, or New York. The technology is equal to or better than anything we currently have. Feel free to mess around with things that should be in the relatively near future such as flying vehicles, holograms, and stuff like that. There is a large portion of the island that isn’t taken up by the city which includes a decent amount of wilderness, farms and suburbs. Atlantis is not home to any one specific ethnicity, never was, despite its purported original real world location. People residing in the city generally can speak Atlantean as well as any language of their genetic heritage. A few newer residents might not speak Atlantean well yet and so errors in communication can occur.

Q: Does the city have any unique features?
A: Aside from the high tech, the city does have a few unique features. Each Species has its own borough or neighborhood though a person does not have to strictly be that Species to live there, it's just a generalization. The Species boroughs resemble a bit of where they come from so that they feel like home to those that live there. For example, the Vampire borough is constantly dark and without sunshine while the Phoenix neighborhood is very open, airy and nearly every building has a pyre of some kind burning on it. There are further descriptions on each borough room. The core downtown area is a true hodgepodge though, with buildings of every description in it and is seen as the bustling heart of the city.

Q: How does someone get to Atlantis if they weren’t already there?
A: Only supernatural creatures can find their way to Atlantis, regardless of whether they have been there before or not. Supernatural creatures are free to come and go as they please. A human may get to Atlantis only by being brought by someone supernatural. Whatever deal that is struck between human and the creature to bring them to Atlantis is between them but it is well-known that slavery and subjugation are illegal and looked down upon.

Q: Can Humans be turned into Vampires, Weres, Valkyrie, or Casters?
A: Yes. For a Human to be turned into a Vampire, Were, or Valkyrie, it has to be approved by the Powers That Be and has an application form as well as a fee. It must be agreed upon by both parties. For a Human to become a Caster, it is up to the Human entirely.

Q: Is changing Species a thing?
A: As of right now, no. The only species that can change what Species they are is a human.

Q: Who are considered Casters?
A: Casters are any human that can cast spells. Witches, wizards, warlocks, shamans, priests, summoners, necromancers, sorcerers, etc. They can take many different titles based on everything from heritage to personal preferences. For more detailed information, see the Caster’s section of the Races page. Normal humans can become Casters if they make a Pact and are thus able to cast spells, usually with help or training from another Caster or a supernatural creature.

Q: What are Elements?
A: Elements are sort of the building blocks of the natural world; primal forces that make up nearly everything in existence on this plane. Fire, water, earth, wind, ice, shadow, and metal are some examples. These elements are personified by elementals, beings that exist in the world just beyond the range of most humans to perceive. Those that can see them are able to make deals with these elementals in exchange for power over that element.

Q: How does one find an Elemental?
A: Typically by going to a place that contains a large amount of that element is the easiest way to find an Elemental. Looking for a water Elemental? Try the ocean. More advanced Casters can summon them with that Element though many Elementals don’t enjoy being taken from their home so that can be dangerous.

Q: How does a Caster make a Pact?
A: There are several ways for a Caster to make a pact that include but are not limited to; inheriting the pact from a mentor or family member, capturing and forcing the pact (either with help of someone else or trickery), or simply finding another planar being and/or elemental and asking for the power.

Q: How does a Pact work?
A: For all supernatural creatures as well as Casters, their word is their bond and once a promise, pact, or deal is made then they cannot go back on it nor can they break it. It is physically impossible for a supernatural creature or Caster to go against their own word. In this universe, words have real and tangible power so all are careful about what they say.

Q: Who can have babies?
A: Males cannot give birth to babies under any circumstances but they can be fathers if they are the correct species. Humans, weres, angels, demons, faeries, sirens, kitsune, phoenixes, dragons, and casters can all have children naturally provided their partner is among those listed. Vampires and Valkyrie are not exactly living and thus are unable to create life without help. As of right now, there is no technology or magic to overcome this but it could be addressed in time. It should also be noted that Sirens, Phoenixes, and Dragons lay eggs rather than giving live birth but the same rules apply.
