Originally, Ten was from Bangkok, Thailand, where the streets were crowded with life and bustling with busy locals or tourists, the hot sun of southeast Asian continents bathing down on them like an oven. Living among humans who possessed no magical properties, Ten became well versed in muggle gadgets and conversing with them, hiding his true nature right under their noses. Back then, his father would bring him and his sister to walk the streets of Bangkok to take in the humble view of muggle lifestyle, to familiarise with them and blend in, learning how to protect themselves from potential enemies.
His younger sister by three years is called Tern. Ten is very protective of her, if not told by his father to never leave her out of his sight, than it’s due to the mere fact that he’s born with elder brother instincts. The two were really close, sometimes sneaking out of their home to cause trouble on the streets at night, where less souls were likely to stumble upon two children conjuring spells and enchantments behind shady alleyways.
Magically speaking, the Leechaiyakul siblings were home schooled, since Thailand didn’t have a wizarding institute back then. They were taught by their father who didn’t possess a wand and as such, both him and his sister also learned how to control their magic with the usage of their hands only. Academically, the brother-sister duo were sent to an international school to study — a feat which they later came to realise was only reserved for the more well off or rich, in muggle standards.
The kneazle of the family, which had been with them since the dawn of time, proved to be a reliable mental support to the siblings. Whenever Ten or Tern felt down, the kneazle would appear to cuddle with them, nuzzling and their cheeks as if to cheer them up. The two found it natural to vent their feelings to the family companion whenever they felt stressed out or unworthy, petting the little creature as tears streamed down their cheeks. Every time, without fail, the kneazle would make them feel better. The kneazle seemed to understand human sentiments since she reacted accordingly to the children’s moods.
At some point, Tern was able to change into a kneazle at will, something that only Ten knew at the time. The little girl had been a month shy of being ten years old, and she decided to hide the truth from her father, claiming that she wanted to surprise him on her birthday. So, Ten withheld crucial information from their father, while in the meantime always admiring how his sister was able to transform into a creature whenever she wanted. Personally, as a metamorphmagus, Ten was happy for his younger sister, since between the two, he had been the only one to inherit their father’s appearance changing skills. To know that his baby sister didn’t need to endure the arduous process in becoming an Animagus, how could he not be happy for her?
However, on the day of Tern’s birthday, the very same day she declared to showcase her ability to their father, the reaction of happiness they were hoping for wasn’t there. Instead, their father looked pale after seeing her transformation, as if witnessing a ghost, before demanding Tern to return to her original form, clearly antsy and frightened. For weeks, their father wouldn’t speak to them, always throwing a fit whenever either of the two asked him the reason behind his tantrum when Tern morphed into a creature. The whole time, they confided in their kneazle companion, telling her how much they wanted to converse with their father and understand what was going through his mind, so that they wouldn’t make him upset again. From time to time, Ten would catch his father talking to the kneazle in hushed whispers, in the dead of night when his father thought the two of them were asleep.
Finally, after a month of absolute avoidance, their father finally rounded the two and told them the truth — the story behind their mother’s disappearance, and why he didn’t react well to Tern’s ability to change into a creature at will.
While Ten had the fortune of being a metamorphmagus, Tern carried the curse of being a Maledictus. Their mother was just like Tern, capable of turning into a creature at will, only until a certain time period. Slowly, as she grew older, their father watched as their mother slowly lost control over her ability to shape-shift. It was not long after she gave birth to Tern that she finally remained in her creature form, never able to change back into a human again. However, their mother loved the family, treasured her two precious children, so she decided to stay, as the family’s companion, the one living form that everyone would go to for comfort.
All this time, Ten’s mother never left the family — she had always been by their side. He and Tern had been too young to understand, yet they always turned to her whenever they felt distressed, letting out their emotions to her. The truth hit the siblings like a truck, and for a long time Tern wasn’t willing to talk to anyone, not even Ten. He could understand though, and gave her the space she needed, chatting with their mother in the meantime and asking questions which could only be answered with a nod or the shake of her head. When Tern finally came to, she wasn’t the same anymore, the happy girl persona which she once had gone forever, never to be found again.
Ever since that day, Ten made a silent promise to himself — find a way to reverse the curse, and to rid of the possibility of his sister becoming a kneazle forever.
Ten was fifteen when the family moved to Korea, and it was there that he was finally able to get proper lessons on magic control. Lucky for Ten at the time, he had just graduated from Mathayom 6 when they left Thailand, so unlike Tern, he didn’t need to continue his academic studies in a whole new country in a totally foreign language. Also lucky for Ten, he had been quick to pick up the Korean language and be familiar with it, speaking it fluently as a native Korean would.
It was here that Ten came to enter Unmuwon, the magical school of Korea. What his father didn’t already teach him during his days being homeschooled, Unmuwon covered the topics which his father either forgot to pass down or was reluctant to touch upon, such as the topic of Animagus, metamorphmagus and Maledictus. As a student, Ten held himself to be a friendly sod — deep down, he’s fragile and breaks fairly easily.
Though his relatively good traits, some may say that Ten is like an imp. His mischievous behaviour is bound to bring in bouts of trouble and problems. Not only that, he is also very snarky and quick-witted, finding delight in teasing people. He can be rather sly too, somehow weaselling himself out of punishments and leaving behind poor innocent sods. For all his charming nature, his sweet-talking capability is pretty dangerous too, what with his tendency to manipulate others to his whim.
Internally, Ten is actually extremely private, not one to talk about his emotions actively. He tends to bottle up his feelings until it becomes too much, then proceeds to find somewhere void of life forms before crying his heart out. When he feels mentally attacked by someone, he will shut off all feelings and become emotionally detached, showing a stoic expression to cover up the pain inside. He always strays from the source of his worries for one some time until he’s ready to face them again, and comes back with that bubbly personality of his once more. If one makes him too angry however, he is not quite the forgiving kind, and can hold quite the grudge.

it is okay if you do not have a plot in mind before approaching me. If you want to RP with me, just slide right into my PM! We can brainstorm together and if we can’t decide on anything, we’ll just wing it! Though having an idea beforehand is much loved, it’s not mandatory. All I ask is for you to read my OOC notes and respect them, thank you.
you can call me by my character’s name or Ivan. My timezone is GMT +8, basically free 24/7 unless I’m busy watching television. My muse is ever fluctuating and replies are sporadic, I apologise. I prefer 3rd over 1st, but will do whatever makes you comfortable. I like detailed 1st since it gives me more to work on. For 3rd, I can do descriptive, para, novella and prose, please state which you prefer. Will do any genres except gore. Don’t poke me unless 7 days have passed. Tell me if you’d like to drop our thread or pick it up again, I’ll do the same.
please do not leave me on one-liners, whether plotting or roleplaying. Please give feedback or ideas when I suggest a plot, so I know you’re just as invested as I am. If you’re gonna act like you can’t talk for yourself, always stuttering or coming off as some sort of ‘sweet innocent angel’, I’ll drop you. No godmodding my character for your own advantage, unless we want to move our plot forward. There’s a certain way my character acts, so don’t try to make him act otherwise.
