the use of family names are limited to those of royals and nobles. in actual history, family names were sometimes as long as three characters (compared to the modern norm of one character), but to eliminate overcomplexity, the roleplay will be sticking to one character family names, but first names can be of one or two characters. women do not adopt their husband’s families names but their children will.
