r/PetLovers: on a more serious note, should a death of a pet be treated the same as a death of a loved one? (ie, relative). recently my pet snake died and i told my family that i’d like to host a funeral in loving memory of him… they mocked me and told me to just throw it into the bin or bury him if i really wanted something “extravagant”. seems disrespectful to me, a life is a life after all.
