Frequently Asked Questions
𓆩♱𓆪 Are OC names required?
Nope! You are free to create original names for your characters if you want to, but it's optional and you may use your faceclaim's name if you like.
𓆩♱𓆪 Are internationals accepted?
Yes! We welcome all ethnicities, genders, ualities, and nationalities. Just be sure you are respectful, do not racebend, and any such changes you make for your character (such as name or nationality) are logical.
𓆩♱𓆪 What time period are we in?
Scarlet Cross is a semi-freeverse style roleplay when it comes to time periods. Our "default" time period is modern day 2020s, meaning you can assume that we exist in present day whenever you interact with others in the IC lounge or other roleplay rooms under the Common tab.
However, you are permitted to have roleplay threads set during any year or era you please ranging from ancient times to present day! Just be sure to discuss desired time periods when plotting or writing threads. That way no one gets confused on your personal timeline of events.
We may also hold events that are set during different eras for the sake of fun. Don't worry, if you have a human muse who has only been alive during a certain time period (For example, was born in modern times and could not have existed in the past) we will be sure to create events that are inclusive!
𓆩♱𓆪 Where are we located?
The physical setting of the roleplay takes place all around Earth. You may find various countries under the World tab and are always welcome to request specific rooms be added in the Requests room if we do not already have a location you need for your thread(s).
You will also find rooms under the Babylonia tab, which is a fictional underground vampyre kingdom that exists in a secret location somewhere on Earth. There are underground travel routes all around the globe that lead to Babylonia making it possible for anyone from anywhere to access the kingdom.
Humans are permitted in Babylonia, but be warned it is very dangerous as humans may be easily preyed upon by vampyres and/or taken into the human slave market that exists in the city.
𓆩♱𓆪 What species are allowed? Can my character have supernatural powers or abilities?
Since this is a vampire-focused AU, the only species we currently allow are vampyres, humans, and dhampyrs (half human and half vampyre).
Only vampyres and dhampyrs are permitted to have supernatural powers which are limited. Please read the Species and Bloodlines rooms for more details. Humans are NOT permitted to have any supernatural powers no matter what.
𓆩♱𓆪 Are deaths and permadeaths allowed?
Yes! Please be sure to get consent beforehand from all parties involved and inform an admin if/when a character dies. Once your character has officially died IC and you are done using them, admins will remove you from that character and place in the graveyard of our masterlist. Whatever faceclaims belonged to a dead or permadead character will be banned from being claimed again in the future.
You are also allowed to revive a dead character back to life if you wish. However, it will cost you 500 activity points to do so. Please request a character revival at the Requests room.
𓆩♱𓆪 Can human characters have reincarnations so they can roleplay during various time periods?
Yes, human reincarnations are allowed! Get as creative as you want with our universe. Reincarnations may also be helpful if we ever host events that are set during a specifc time period. Just be sure that any reincarnation you create remains human and follows our lore / rules.
𓆩♱𓆪 Can my character be a fledgling and/or familial connection to one of the 3 main bloodline characters; Lilith, Akasha, and Dracula?
Yes, but this will be limited and we may cut off how many characters we accept who are directly linked or connected to the bloodline characters. Please be sure to mention proper details in your application and profile so admins can determine if your character suits the lore reasonably.
Also keep in mind that one of those characters, Vlad Dracula, is a muse portrayed in the roleplay by main admin! Be sure to ask permission in the comments or contact Vlad via PM.
𓆩♱𓆪 Do vampyres and dhampyrs feel physically cold to the touch or warm?
We explain somewhat in the Species room, but essentially vampyres can be physically cold the longer they go without feeding on blood. They are, after all, undead creatures who require blood and life source to retain vitality. A vampyre can maintain good health, physical warmth, and lively color in their skin much like a normal human if they have recently consumed blood and/or consumed a large amount of blood. The more you consume, the longer the "human" effects of vitality will last.
