“So then you agree, you need my help.” He grinned, reaching over to take the bottle of Jägermeister away from the other male so he could pour himself some, swirling the liquid in his glass before he threw his head back and downed it.

Not his taste. But not bad.

After setting the glass down, Kian brought his hand up so he could use his thumb to clean his lips. The reaper was thinking on the matter at hand as he studied the dragon. Years of history and trauma flooding his mind, though he couldn’t see what the dragon had locked away as if something were blocking it.

curious.

“It has something to do with your past, I’m guessing.”

Once again.

Nothing was ever dull in his life.

And what really got his attention fully on lock with them today, was that the reaper new he was a dragon.

Markus only recently found out about such. And could never connect one main memory. Even his mothers showed fear in their eyes at his self discovery.

That, he saw for the first time in his life. And it changed him.

No matter how much he denies it.

So with this, the dragon must search.

And here, his search begun.

"I guess this is a time where I should listen more than react..." He muttered, scoffing. Because ever since that discovery, the fire in his heart had grown over what he could control. And he'd /been/ was ignoring it.

Ah. He seemed to have mistakenly offended the dragon. Not that he cared in particular but it amused him further. He chuckled a little, showing his growing amusement verbally to the dragon to show that he was not bothered.

“Like you said, I’ve been living for a very long time. I doubt it is me that the fates want you to help, it does not make sense does it? What could death need?” He asked, “nothing. The answer is nothing. I need nothing, but I do have wants for things and I do not particularly want to help a stubborn creature like you, but if I do not we will just keep crossing paths.”

His lips curled up slightly, “I have no interest in stringing you along. So really, you do not know me or my so called game at all.”

Kian laughed with a shake of his head, not understanding why the fates have dammed him with a dragon who loathes the help of others. Perhaps, he wasn’t the only one who enjoyed a little game once in a while.

' You. Need me. '

The he did.

Markus was never good as hiding his face when he felt so strongly about something. His eyebrows furrowed and looked as though the reaper just offened his family for generations.

"I... Need /you/." He repeated. A couple of seconds later, he was laughing. Clearly a loose screw somewhere. "And /what/ could I /possibly/ need from death, eh?" He snorted, chuckling before snatching up the bottle of left over Jägermeister to swig from.

"And you want to string me along so you can get entertainment in this..." The dragon snorted, looking away as he turned his head a few inches; taking a bigger swig. "I know your game..."

“Let’s make one thing clear.” He said all traces of amusement leaving his tone, “death needs nothing from no one.”

He then proceeded to analyze the dragon for a little while before he also took a seat on one of the barstools. The reaper didn’t know what the dragon needed from him and if he did, he was not privy to information from the fates often and there was a slim chance that he would tell the dragon if he knew. And did he want to do anything at all? He could let the dragon go and figure it out on his own—or—he could play along for the entertainment.

“You.” He pointed at the dragon and then at himself, “need me.” He voiced before a little smile tugged at his lips.

“I don’t know why yet…but I’ll figure it out soon enough.”

Markus scoffed.

Coincidences.

And coming from death, there was a lot of truth to this. There was no denying that. And // did he want to.

Something always had to shove itself in his life. And the dragon was /damn/ tired of it. Nothing was ever normal about him.

"Coincidence." The dragon male repeated, now sitting on a stool because he really had to sit down for this . Markus poured himself another full cup. Brim almost passed. "I hate to say it, but I agree.. I don't usually see people more than three times unless it's a repeating customer..." He muttered before completely downing that entire glass of jägermeister. Alcohol always took too much to do anything to him.

Markus his own lips to rid of the dark red liquid. "So... What do you want to do about it.." He said.

However the reaper takes it, they take it.

"Clearly there's something we need out of each other..."

Kian watched the dragon with mirth in his eyes. The fella was amusing him solely with just how much he was interested in what the reaper had to say. The creature’s curiosity alone was enough.

So he decided, he’d bite.

“A lot of souls groan and moan about their regrets as they fight their way back to life. It’s always a flip of a coin if they win that fight.” He replied, swirling the dark liquid in his glass around before he emptied it.

He lowered his glass and his lips to rid them of the liquor staining them. “And as they would have it, fate plays a big part. In that and in us running into each other.” He continued with a smirk, “no such thing as coincidences.”

The dragon narrowed his eyes at the reapers last words. "And what do you mean about that..." He sighed, reaching over to pull over a glass, picking a random alcohol to pour. Jägermeister. Something strong to settle him for the moment. Once he poured, he immediately downed it back in a second.

Putting down the glass, Markus looked over at the reaper once again.

"So, what..." He sighed. "Why is it that I keep having the... /pleasure/ running into you..."

The reaper stared at the creature before him as he took a few more slow sips of his drink. Just like the rest of them. He couldn’t blame the poor thing to see death as the last resort. And he was he was right, he did not enjoy easy pickings.

“I do get bored here and there.” He nodded, lips quirking into a sly smile as his head tilted slightly to get a good read on the dragon.

“And quite the contrary actually.” He mused, “you are exactly the type to make my job harder.”

“The type to realize at the very last second that they have one little regret, whether it is a last kiss, last goodbye…or perhaps the kind to lament not doing enough, not trying harder, giving up too easily.” He chuckled with a shake of his head as he brought his glass up to his lips for another taste.

“It is no fun when a soul is fighting its way back and being uncooperative.”

"Of course you read minds..." The male muttered, rolling his eyes. Death knows everything. Even if you, yourself do not remember.

But that exact thought spiked something in his brain. What if...

"It wouldn't make your job harder with me." He muttered, taking saunters to the male. "I'd accept it. But I feel like you don't take joy in easy pickings..." He snorted with the roll of his eyes, stopping at a close enough space at the bar. The dragon leaned on the table.

"I didn't take you as a public creature much..." Markus eyed the entity. "You must get bored as anyone else would... Living eternities and all..."

The others perpetual state of distrust didn’t bother him. It in fact made him even more curious as to what got this one to be so…recluse. But he guessed it could happen to anyone whose kind were unapologetically wiped out. His presence was never pleasant to those around him unless they were sick bastards, but he welcomed all presences with open arms. He simply found that having others around, they never failed to entertain him on some form.

The reaper took a sip of his tangy drink and hummed as the taste, taking another sip to savor it before he was turning to face the dragon. Did he always want to talk to him? He was just a polite entity, greetings were just a natural gesture was it not?

“If it were your time, telling you would do nothing for me.” He voiced calmly, “and you would make my job harder. and that would be a nuance.”
markus r. [A] 3 months ago
"Apologies for any offense.." The male muttered with a nulled voice. "But I don't exactly enjoy the cold..." He said, staring at the entity carefully. There was very few times they had come across each other, and almost always, they were the one to initiate any vocal contact. Why?

As Markus headed towards the door, his steps slowed down until he was at a full stop. Actually... why /did/ death want to talk to him so badly? Was his time coming? He wouldn't be surprised. He'd rather get it over with than later.

"You seem to always want to talk to me..." He started as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his leather pants. Markus looked at the entity from his peripheral, barely wanting to meet face entirely. "Why."
kian c. 3 months ago
He could the other felt unease around him. But then again what creature did not? It made no difference to him, however, he didn’t want him to leave so soon. Especially because he hadn’t had the chance to quell his curiosity about the dragon as of yet.

“Leaving so soon?” He quipped loud enough for the other to hear, not like he wouldn’t know it was directed at him. They were the only two there after all.

His eyes traveled over the bottles before the landed on the liquid of his choice. Picking it up to examine it a bit before popping the top to take a small whiff of what he’d be consuming. Once he’s deemed it good enough, he picked up one of the many glasses and proceeded to pour himself a drink.

Markus found himself looking at the skin on his arm all of a sudden when a chill came over his area in the room. What? Why did the room suddenly get cold? He didn't–

The males eyes closed and he contained his large sigh within his mouth.

You know what? He could stay up for another day. Rest wasn't that serious.

Markus huffed and got up, eyes looking over at the figure at the bar.

Unbelievable. How many times were they ever gonna cross paths?

Sure. Being in a public space was fine. But just those two? No. Never. A physical entity of death was never a comfortable like he could cross. He'd seen too much and new to much to ever want to be less than 20 feet away from something like this.

Especially the goddamn King of Death, himself.

An entity like that couldnt even be touched by a lowly creature. They'd die the moment of contact.

Markus stood up from his spot in the room and straightened out his clothes, making sure nothing fell before he was continuing to walk past the bar.

Boredom could be the only reason he’d even find interest in entering. In search of something, anything that could bring some sense of entertainment to his new found dilemma. The room was empty, except for the brooding presence of what seemed to be curious creature in the corner. He didn’t bat an eye at them, not at first, until he got a sense of damming history coming from the direction. Interesting. Regardless, he found himself by the table filled with an array of liqour. Maybe he’ll indulge.

A break. Just– a /second/ to rest his goddamn mind. This entire month has been nothing but a blur from Markus, and rest isn't something he gets very often. The moment he'd seen the lounge's couch, his body was already giving out. Markus landed on the couch with a bit of air punched out of him from the impact. He immediately groaned once his body melted against the cushions.

" me..."
