harvey x baekhyun.

@amy harvey. “Your next life? There's still a chance for this one silly.” He said with a soft smile. What she said was true. Their whole lives, he was always positive or at least he tried to look for the positive side of everything. It wasn't that he didn't see the negatives, more that he just focused on the positives and did what he could to make the positive outcome happen. Like with the exam they just had, he stayed up studying despite how easily the language came to him. His positivity and confidence in Harvey worked the same way. Although he didn't really have anything he could do to help with a positive outcome in a lot of situations, he saw what she was doing, all her hard work. When he could, he helped and encouraged.
“Let’s get sushi then.” Baekhyun decided and started to walk towards the sushi place. “I would suggest you order in English, but I don't know if the staff know much English.”

@byun baekhyun. "maybe in my next life, i'll have more self-confidence. i don't know how you're always so positive, baek!" harvey said with a quiet laugh. "honestly, i'm jealous."
whenever she spoke korean or her native japanese, harvey's voice tended to sound timid. with english, however, people sometimes struggled to hear her with how softly her words flowed out. "how about sushi? or...soup of some kind? i'm not really craving anything in particular."

@amy harvey. “We’re celebrating when the results come out and you see that you passed and had nothing to worry about!” He declared.
The look he got told him she wasn't ready to tell him before her words did. Nodding he said “Food sounds good.” Baekhyun swapped to speaking in English and asked “What do you want to eat?”

@byun baekhyun. "you're right. i feel like i'm less confident with my english, though..." harvey mumbled while slipping outside into the sunlight. "here's hoping we both pass! definitely will be a lot less stressful for us if we do, considering how much this could affect our grades." she shot him a pointed look as soon as he suggested her spilling the secret, but internally, harvey was freaking out. would she ever be able to tell him? "um...why don't we go and grab something to eat? maybe i'll...let you know what's been on my mind for a while after that."

@amy harvey. "Trusting your gut is a good sign. It's like when we practice our English. Our conversations are natural and you go with your gut response." He said as he walked with her. "Let's just say I'm not as tired as I was before the exam." When they reached the door, he opened it and let Harvey leave first as he always did. "Do you want to practice talking in English? Or do you want to tell me your secret~?" Baekhyun knew she would tell him when she was ready, but he still wanted to playfully tease.

@byun baekhyun. harvey tucked a few strands of loose hair behind her ear and let out a slow breath as soon as baekhyun approached her. "well, i don't think i did /horrible/, let's put it that way. the content felt difficult, but i'm fairly certain i passed, thanks to going with my gut on questions i was unsure about. i suppose we'll see when the professor posts our results." gripping her bag, she nodded toward the exit and began to walk. "what about you, hm? i'm sure mister genius thought the whole thing was a breeze!"

@amy harvey. The bell ringing woke the sleeping male. He felt a bit more rested which was great, but now he had a slight ache in his neck. Despite being one of the first to complete the exam, Baekhyun ended up being one of the last to hand it up and leave. Once out of the classroom he looked around for Harvey and smiled brightly when he saw her. "How did you find it? Do you think you did well? I'm sure you did great!"

@byun baekhyun. harvey swore half of this content hadn't been in their textbook, however, the woman still managed to breeze through the exam, answering each question to the best of her ability. after glancing at the clock and realizing she had a few minutes to spare before they were required to stop, she quickly double-checked the answers she'd marked on her test.
once the bell rang, harvey stood up and walked to the front of the classroom to turn in her exam, smiling nervously at the professor. their teacher provided a look of reassurance before turning to the next student. harvey shuffled out of the room and stepped to the side, waiting for baekhyun to appear.

@amy harvey. Baekhyun smiled as he entered the classroom after his best friend and went to his seat. His focus was completely on the exam they were moments away from taking, having just accepted the kiss his friend gave him as a wish for good luck with the exam. No other thoughts crossed his mind as to why she may have done that.
When their teacher entered the room, no time was wasted before starting the exam. Like always, Baekhyun finished the exam with time left which he used to get a little more rest since he had stayed up late studying.

@byun baekhyun. harvey knew her friend wouldn't give up until she filled him in on the secret. "yes, yes! i'm aware...i promise, i'll tell you, eventually," she murmured softly before sliding into the building and walking alongside him to their classroom. "thanks, baek. i'm not just worried, i'm extremely worried. but...now i have your utmost support, so i'm confident i will do well!" harvey beamed at him. "and, of course, you know i'm always cheering for you as well. you don't necessarily need luck, since you're so smart...however..." lifting onto her tippy toes, she planted a warm kiss on the apple of his cheek before hurrying into the room and making a beeline for her seat.

@amy harvey. “A secret? Now I want to know even more. You know I’ll keep at you until you tell me~ But I’ll be nice and drop it for now because we have an exam. I’ll be patient just this once~” He playfully teased. Once they got to their building, Baekhyun held the door allowing Harvey to enter first. His attitude had completely shifted from his playful one to a more serious but still gentle one. “I know you're worried about this exam, but you really don't have to be. You’ve got this. Just believe in yourself. You’ll ace this Harvey, I know you will.” With that said, he held the door to their classroom open for her.

@byun baekhyun. laughing softly, she used her free hand to poke between his eyebrows. "oi, what are you frowning for? i remember what the barista looked like! if anything, we can always go back and ask her for her favorite drink again. besides, we're regulars; i'm sure they know who we are as well." harvey blinked when he kept her drink and began walking once more. lips still wrapped around the straw, she hurried after him and matched his pace as soon as she caught up. just as she started to thank him for switching coffees, his next words made her pause and immediately caused her cheeks to flush a bright red. "erm, well- it's a secret! at least...for now, anyway. you'll find out soon enough." as long as she didn't chicken out, that is.

@amy harvey. The male frowned a little. "I might have ordered it again if it had a name. They really are talented though." His frown changed back into his signature smile when he heard her response to the drink. "I knew you'd like it" After tasting the new drink in his hand he said "You keep mine." then continued walking to class. It wasn't that he liked her drink better, more so she clearly liked his better. "So, are you going to telling me what has you so adventurous today or what?"

@byun baekhyun. shaking her head, harvey reached out to swap their drinks. "no, i'm not sure it had a name, honestly. the baristas are quite talented; maybe they just tossed a bunch of ingredients together that sounded compatible." with a shrug, she sipped on his coffee and smacked her lips together a few times as if that would somehow enhance the flavor on her palate. "it's delicious! whose coffee do you like better?"

@amy harvey. "I won't break it, I swear." There was no doubt in his mind that she would actually bite him if he broke his promise. She had done it before when they were kids.
His attention shifted to the drink in his hand when asked how it was. After taking a drink he made a surprised face. "This is actually pretty good. Did you catch the name of this?" Holding his drink out to her he said "You should try it. I think you'll like it."

@byun baekhyun. harvey glanced from baekhyun to his outstretched pinky for a moment or two before finally linking hers with his, sealing the promise. "just know that i /will/ bite you if you ever dare to break your promise, mister." she shot him one more glare before softening her expression and releasing his finger so she could take a swig of her coffee. "hmm...this wouldn't be something i'd willingly order, but it's not terrible." she shrugged while up some more with the straw. "how's yours?"

@amy harvey. "Okay, okay. You can pay for the next two. I promise." He said, following her out of the café. Getting in front of her, he held out his free hand with his pinky finger up and said "You don't have to be on high alert. You can trust me not to do that again. I pinky promise to let you pay when you say you want to pay from now on, no matter what the price."

@byun baekhyun. she huffed a little and took the drink, flipping her hair over her shoulder as she headed towards the door. "of course, i'm going to forgive you, but i'm still mad! it doesn't matter how much money it was...i wanted to buy it for you this time. now, i'm getting our next two rounds of coffee." harvey grumbled, taking a long swig of the iced drink and letting it cool down her anger. "and i also have to be on high alert around you so you don't try anything sneaky like that again."

@amy harvey. Baekhyun opened his mouth to say something cheeky and playful, but stopped himself when he saw the glare his beat friend was giving him. "It was nearly double our usual." He explained, moving to collect their drinks for them. Turning to Harvey he held out one of the drinks for her to take. "Forgive me?"

@byun baekhyun. "exactly. i can't afford to fail any more exams," she mumbled, tucking a few stray strands of hair behind her ear. harvey was, by no means, a terrible student, but she did have her fair share of botched tests and assignments. this one in particular, however, was too important to fail.
baekhyun pointing out her shoe had harvey dropping down to one knee and glancing at the laces. "my shoe? but it's-" she whipped her head back up toward him and gasped once she realized what he did, jumping to her feet. "baek! that's so unfair..."
instead of answering him, harvey crossed her arms across her chest and glared.

@amy harvey. "Good point! If we end up late, there really wouldn't have been much point in me staying up studying last night. It'd be instant fail." The twenty two year old kept and eye on the little screen where the price would pop up, ready to pay if it went above a certain number. Once he saw the price was above the number he had set he look at his friend and pointed down while saying "I think your shoe has come untied." As he did that, hoping it would distract her long enough, he reached around her with his other arm and tapped his card, paying for their drinks.
Acting as if he didn't just try to distract her and pay, he asked "What has you feeling so adventurous today anyway?"

@byun baekhyun. “hmm, i’m feeling adventurous! let’s have them surprise us.” she grinned, slipping outside and walking with him to the coffee shop. harvey murmured a soft ‘thank you’ when he held the door for her before walking up to the counter. “we can drink it on the way…if we get distracted and stay too long, we’ll be late for class.” once the barista slid over to take their order, harvey relayed what they wanted to do and let the woman get to work.

@amy harvey. "Something new? Okay. Did you have something in mind or are you feeling adventurous? We can ask the barista to make their favourite? Or the most popular drink this week?" He suggested as he put his shoes on then opened the door, letting Harvey out first. After locking the door he turned put and arm around his friends shoulders as they walked to the café. "Oh, you wanna treat me even though it was my idea?Hmm.. Okay, but only if it's not crazy expensive. It wouldn't be fair if you had to pay a lot when we only got our usuals last week, and they aren't expensive."
When they got to the café, Baekhyun once again held the door open for his friend, letting her enter first. "Wanna have them here? Or get takeaway?"

@byun baekhyun. to avoid looking at that nice expanse of skin, harvey glanced off to the side and snorted softly. “no one’s gonna wanna see that!” she joked right back before scampering out the door to wait for him.

harvey swore everyone /but/ baekhyun knew how she felt about him. sure, the situation sounded cliche- falling for your longtime best friend…but she couldn’t help it. her heart decided those feelings for him a few years ago, however, the courage to tell him hadn’t hit her yet.

“let’s try something new this time! we always order the same stuff,” she replied, slipping her shoes on and draping her jacket over one shoulder. “and i’ll pay since you did last week.”

@amy harvey. “I know, I know. I didn’t plan on it.” He said as he sat up in his bed, the covers falling down and revealing his bare chest. “We’re going to ace the exam!” Baekhyun rolled his eyes in response to her comment about him having to get dressed and jokingly said “Oh really? I thought I’d just go out in my boxers!” Once his friend left his room he got up and threw on a pair of jeans and a simple t-shirt. After making sure he had everything he needed, he headed out to the living room. “Okay, I’m ready. Let’s go get coffee.”

@byun baekhyun. harvey kicked her shoes off at the door, tossed her coat over the back of the couch, and scampered off towards her friend’s room. “yep, morning already! i told you not to stay up too late studying…” she clicked her tongue. “but you’ll ace the exam, anyway. it’s unfair.” despite wanting baekhyun to excel in the class, harvey envied how naturally english came to him. “coffee sounds like a good idea, but you need to get dressed first. hurry up! i’ll be waiting in the living room.”

@amy harvey. A soft groan passed his lips as the sound of his best friends voice pulled him from his slumber. "It's morning already?" The twenty two year old asked in a groggy voice. "I feel like I only just went to sleep." Baekhyun stretched before blinking his eyes open. Upon seeing his friend he gave her a sleepy smile and asked "Can we get coffee before class?"

@byun baekhyun. people couldn't understand why harvey decided to study english, one of the toughest languages in the world. to her, the difficulty didn't matter; harvey wanted to travel abroad and teach, something she realized she loved even when she was just a little girl. often she'd close herself in her room and 'play school' with her stuffed animals. fast forward to now, at age twenty-one, where she had the language as her major. thankfully, her best friend, baekhyun, was there studying the same topic. they'd been attached at the hip ever since birth...their mothers' own close relationship technically starting the pair off. which is why harvey felt comfortable enough to let herself into her friend's dorm without even bothering to knock. "baek, wake up!"
