He couldnt help but smile lovingly when matt woke up, their gazes meeting. Hearing him say welcome home made his heart fill with absolute love and joy. "I just walked in." He nuzzled gently into the touch, turning his head to press a small kiss to matt's thumb. "come on, lets get you more comfortable." Eric stood and wrapped his arms around his lovers waist, lifting him up with ease. "shall we go cuddle in our new bed, my love?" He asked with a smile, excited to finally share a home together.

He wasn't sleeping for too long, not enough to fall into a deep sleep. An ear twitched to the soft whispers, stirring Matthew in his sleep a bit. His eyes opened slightly as he raised his head. The blurry blob in his view slowly became visual, and finally his lips curled into a smile. "Welcome home." He spoke with sleep in his voice as he sat up. He stretched his arms out as he became more awake. "You haven't been here too long, have you?" Matthew asked, his head leaning against his arm, propped up on the kitchen counter. He placed a hand on Eric's cheek, his thumb sliding against it softly.

Eric didn't have too much dragging behind him, just a large luggage if clothes and a duffle bag. The rest of his things would arrive later on. And anything he needed immediately, he'd just get when it was essential. He just wanted to hurry up and see his lover.
Unlocking the door, he slowly opened it and peeked inside. His eyes landed immediately on Matt asleep in the chair. Quietly setting his luggage by the door, he slipped his shoes off and made his way over to the sleeping fox. He knelt down in front of him and gently took hold of his hand, caressing it. As much as he didn't want to wake him, he also knew Matt would probably be upset if he hadn't.
Eric leaned forward to press a loving kiss to his forehead. "My love...." He whispered softly as to not scare the other. "I'm here, my love."

Exhaustion took over Matthew as he placed the last box onto the kitchen counter and plopped himself into the nearby bar stool so he could rest for a bit. A loud sigh came from his lips, eyes closed for a moment while attempting to gain enough strength to move again. He was just trying to keep busy, calmly waiting for his significant other to arrive. Though, his fox ears drooped from the sadness he was feeling inside. He thought if he spent all day getting his stuff inside, the time would pass long enough for his lover to arrive, but he finished faster than he expected. Matthew's eyes were glued to his lock screen, which was a picture he had taken of the two of them with their cheeks together, making a silly face. By this point he was growing more and more restless; his knee began shaking and creating a tapping noise against the chair that echoed through the apartment; he couldn't help but feel anxious. Yet, as long as he stared, time felt like it would move slower just to spite him. Eventually he had enough; he flipped the hood of his sweater over his head. He placed his arms onto the cold kitchen counter, crossed but comfortable as he rested his cheek against his forearms cushioned by the sleeves. His glasses sat uncomfortably on his nose and started to fog up as Matthew's breathing began to steady; his eyes fell heavy and began to fall shut. He accepted his defeat; there was no reason to keep staring into nothing; he had to be patient. Besides, he barely slept the night before. This was unusual for him since he was known to sleep as soon as his eyes shut, but it was different that night. He couldn't wait to move inside as fast as possible. The fox let out one last loud huff before he inhaled into dreamland, fast asleep in the chair.
