@Luhan "You would help me?" Juniel brightened. Having a child of Athena to help you with something doesn't sound too bad, judging from how they were sired by the wisest goddess.
@Luhan "Write the song lyrics but without a melody?" Juniel blinked as she tapped her chin. "So it means I'll have to write a free verse if I can't do it by following any number of syllables..." She sighed, shaking her head in disbelief. This is doing to be harder than she thought it would be.
@Luhan Hearing a voice asking, her head snapped up in surprise. She blinked a few times before realizing who just spoke. "Oh, Luhan!" Juniel chuckled, rubbing her temples. "I was trying to compose a proper poem about Apollo. You know, since he's my godly parent... and I might at least have a little bit of talent in composing poem like composing lyrics.." She sheepishly said, sighing for the nth time.
@Juniel "What's harder than you thought?" Luhan asked as his head popped out from behind the bookshelf. He was just looking for another book to read when he heard a somewhat familiar yet unfamiliar voice. It was a girl. He wasn't trying to be nosy but he was bored.
Juniel watched as the other left, stretching her arms as well. At least she got to meet another camper, and even had a chance to talk about their godly parents. With a sigh, she had an amused smile on her face as she stared at the book in front of her, as if it would open by itself. Might as well start working with the poem, right? A poem about her father. She scratched her head, trying to come up with any words.
"This is harder than I thought." She muttered, blowing a raspberry.
@Juniel "They can come out naturally, they can be learned. But learning is a continuous process. It just depends on the person if they want to or not." He smiles, then stands up. His time was up, he had to back to his duties again. "I have to go. Thank you for your time though. It's nice meeting you, daughter of Apollo." Turning around, he stretches his arms as he walks outside.
@Nichkhun Juniel blinked, then smiled. “No, It’s alright. I understand, though, you do have a point.” She chuckled, nodding. “I should try composing at least one stanza, and the next time we’ll meet, I’ll recite it to you, and tell me if I did well.” She then grinned. “If I do have the talent, it’ll come out naturally, right? I should give it a try.”
@Juniel He didn't know if he has any right to say it or if he understands poetry at all. Knocking at the table to get her attention, Nichkhun shakes his head lightly and smiles. "To be a poet, you don't need any of those. And you don't need endless words, something that people will easily understand." He leans back. "Some poets uses fancy words to impress readers but... the heck," He laughs. "What's the point if the one reading them won't even know the word itself."
Nichkhun exhales, realizing that he's thinking aloud. "I'm sorry, I was just thinking. Maybe we have different perspectives, I respect that."
@Nichkhun “I guess it’s not too late to try.” Juniel shrugged. “I think so. I just needed some time… and yeah, some time.” She sighed. She then took out another random book before following Nickhun, taking a seat opposite him. “I guess I should always have a dictionary and thesaurus with me if I do want to be a poet, so endless words would flow in my mind.” She nodded, poking the random book she got from the poetry section.
@Juniel "Your mind won't cooperate... because you think too much." He took one random poetry book. "If humans didn't have any connection with Apollo but they can create great poems. I bet yours will come out naturally." He exhales while smiling as he puts it back then looks at Juniel. "You really need to believe in yourself. But I can't rush you with these things... you'll get it eventually." Nichkhun started walking, gesturing her to follow if she wants to then he takes the seat again.
@Nichkhun “Who knows.” Juniel repeated and shrugged.
“Oh please, my mind won’t cooperate when it comes to poetry.” Juniel sighed and shook her head. “I can’t do it the same way as how I freely write my lyrics.” Or maybe she can, but not that good. Thinking of words makes her head spin around. “The only word I can think of that rhymes with Apollo is solo.” She pouted, giving up and placing the poetry book back in the shelf.
@Juniel He started chuckling, shaking his head. "Nah... trust me. I can't see it that way." Then, he stops, looking at another book in her hand. "I bet poetry isn't that hard. Come on..." He laughs. "What rhymes with "Apollo"? or maybe it isn't about the rhymes." Nichkhun smiled. "Maybe it's the thought that counts? Maybe you don't even need words? It's possible."
@Nichkhun “Who knows, you might be there once you successfully finish a quest the Oracle might give you.” Juniel smiled back, “And you’re right. It was overwhelming, in a good way.” Nodding, she flipped the pages of the book in her hands, reading a random page.
“Oh, anything but poetry.” Juniel chuckled, “I’m afraid I can’t even write a free verse poem for the gods’ sake.” She pouted, her eyes on the page of the book.
@Juniel "Hercules, Perseus, other Zeus' children. I doubt that I will have my name on mortal textbooks if I don't do well enough." He shrugs but smiles at the girl. "I bet it's overwhelming in a good way." Nichkhun laughs. "You are lucky, sport."
Listening to the girl, he muttered. "You should try it. You should try many things. Healing, poetry... Your dad is god of many things. That what makes your kind, more interesting." He knocks on the wood while looking at her. "How about try one now? About Apollo perhaps?"
@Nichkhun “Ah, I see.” She nodded in understanding. Of course, she thought. She was about to ask him why, but of course, knowing you’re a child of a god from the big three is pressuring enough. Or maybe there’s another reason. “It felt…overwhelming.” Honestly, she was surprised, but more on being happy. “I haven’t tried poetry, sadly. I write lyrics, but I haven’t tried writing poems.”
@Juniel "It felt.." Nichkhun paused. It seemed like an easy question but it wasn't. "..pressuring, to be honest with you." It was an interesting question, he had to ask it. "How about you? Being daughter of Apollo?" He watches her, taking the book from the shelf. "Do love poetry as much as music?" Nichkhun only knew one poem and it was about a tree. Random, but he liked it a lot.
@Nichkhun “Yep.” Juniel raised her brows. “But I was wondering how it felt knowing you were sired by a god of the big three?” She asked in curiosity. Nickhun was probably the second demigod she’ll meet that is sired by a god of the big three, after Youngmin who was a son of Poseidon. She took another book from the shelf, opening it on the first page. Poetry, poetry, her eyes scanned the table of contents.
@Juniel "Even if we are associated with them, I guess we still have our own ways." He takes a random book, flipping the first few pages then he gives up and returns them back. Maybe not poetry this time.
Turning to Juniel, he shakes his head. "Not only your father. No one does."
@Nichkhun “Natural, yeah.” Juniel just laughed, nodding her head. “But you’re right about the campers. The campers I have met, including you, are none of the first impressions I have given. I was once afraid of meeting an Ares child, since you know, their father sure is the god of war, but they weren’t like what I thought they were.”
Smiling, Juniel agreed, “Ah, you have a point. I just need patience, right? And surely, I’ll be able to find out the other abilities I possess. Who knows. Father might not even like it if I continue looking down on myself.”
@Juniel "You are all great there... It comes out natural." He squinted his eyes jokingly, pretending to be bitter since it was one thing he's bad at. But in the end he'll just laugh. "I don't know if I met all of them but, the campers are all good people. You'll have fun talking to them."
Nichkhun laughs. "Don't be discouraged, everyone has their own specialty." He sees her looking down. "You know, sport. You should believe in yourself more..."
@Nichkhun “Yeah, you’re right.” Heaving a soft sigh, Juniel nodded. “Although I haven’t received my gift yet, knowing that my archery ability is passive makes me feel just fine. At least I know that first thing I’ve inherited from father, just like the other Apollo children. Too bad, I haven’t met most of them, but I know I’ll meet them sooner or later.”
Raising a brow, Juniel laughed. “Hearing that makes me feel like not having to train with melee weapons at all, knowing how ‘bloody’ it would be.” She then looked down on her feet, “But I don’t think my healing abilities won’t appear just like that. I just had the feeling.” She shrugged.
@Juniel "If Apollo knew you well. He might give you something that's pleasing enough." He watches her flip the book, "If he's really just around, I bet he'll give you what you really need." Now, he watched her return the book back to the space between two other books.
"You'll find it out. Training can sometimes be bloody." He jokes, "They need a healer around there. I bet you can do it." He smiles then jokes again. "Too bad I'm not yet wounded so you can find out now."
@Nichkhun Juniel nodded. “I was hoping it would be something really surprising, just like how Hermes would often prank his children.” She joked. Flipping the pages of the book, Juniel chuckled, remembering how she once read something about Hermes, the messenger of the gods, being the one who had given the lyre to Apollo. “I wonder if my father will give me something than has to do with music.” She thought out loud, tapping her chin as if pondering. Shaking her head, she closed the book and returned it to where she took it.
“I haven’t really tried yet, so I don’t know if I can do it. I know the gift itself will reveal once most needed.” She said before leaning at the bookshelf opposite to where Nickhun was leaning at.
@Juniel "You have a point." He nods before switching his attention to the book that Juniel was holding. It was Apollo's lyre and Apollo himself. He knew that no one can exactly capture the god's images but Nichkhun believed that they all have something resembling to the gods. No matter how much they would deny it, same with his denial with Zeus. But to her, he can see some sort of sophistication. The way Apollo can be god of many things.
"Have you tried it? But I think you can."
@Nichkhun “Perhaps, I would.” Juniel chuckled and nodded, “But if somehow, I wouldn’t be finding it here, I won’t be sad. Father might still be preparing something big.” She smiled at the thought as she brushed her fingers over the cover of one book she pulled out. She opened the book, touching the page as if it was something so precious.
The first thing that came to her mind upon seeing what was on the page was Apollo’s lyre. That majestic instrument that he would always use to make music. It reminded her so much of her guitar. On the page, was an image of Apollo—how the mortals pictured him to be, just like those on the statues. But of course, she knew it wouldn’t look exactly like him. “I’ve heard that most of the Apollo children can heal. Even Sunggyu oppa can. I wonder if I can, too.” She spoke.
@Juniel He walks there, looking at the books before turning around to face Juniel. "If I say that your gift is somewhere here, would you believe me?" Nichkhun was testing her. Not whether if she trusts him but if she has faith that Apollo heard their conversation and can finally give her something. A simple gift that will tighten her beliefs. That what made things possible, that's how Nichkhun got his sword even if Zeus knew that he once hated him, that what made things happen, the faith that it will happen and it can. Even with the odds.
Nichkhun ran his finger on the shelf. "Who knows? Maybe it's hidden here somewhere? Between the books? I don't know but I bet it will appear to you first than anyone."
Nichkhun leaned on the shelf.
@Nichkhun "Definitely." Juniel grinned and nodded. "I never knew demigods existed. But then here we are, alive and kicking. Myths do exist, because if it don't, we won't be right here, right now."
Hearing this from Nickhun, Juniel snapped her head to his direction. "I don't really know. Maybe rock?" She giggled, imagining how cool it would be if her father liked rock.
"Let's go to the poetry section, if you don't mind." He smiles, standing up.
"Of course, I don't mind." Juniel nodded and stood up as well. Absolutely a great idea, she thought. Of course, her father sure was also the god of poetry.
@Juniel "Yes we are... part accepted and part different." He chuckles, giving her a thumbs up. "Our kind is awesome." It made sense for him. They can be better than humans and more believable than gods because society knows that they exist.
"What do you think will call your father's attention?" He asked then jokes harmlessly. "Rap, Pop or... opera?" Looking around, he tried to think of somewhere possible to get Apollo's attention. Maybe thinking isn't really the best thing he could do but he had an idea. "Let's go to the poetry section, if you don't mind." He smiles, standing up.
