Built by Avatar Aang, Air Temple Island is home to Tenzin and his family, as well as many new generation Air Nomads, who are descendats of nonbending Air Bender Acolytes. This island is where all flying bison make their home. Each new Air Nomad gets a bison who they must raise and take care of. Air Nomads also get to train with devices that are over 2,000 years old. They are encouraged to become the leaf and reach spiritual enlightment. The Air Nomads comprise one of the four nations. There are four air temples at each corner of the globe, all sitting atop mountain ranges. The Air Nomads were the smallest of the four nations, but the most spiritual. The Air Nomad national emblem is a swirling orb of wind. The last Avatar to represent Air was Avatar Aang.
