Levi's face remained emotionless as Eren spoke. Admire? Why would anyone admire him? Even with his countless titan kills and assists, Levi thought of himself way differently than what he's given credit for. He wasn't looking for admiration or attention, he just wanted to fight for humanity and destroy the titans.
But this thought made him think back to Eren. From what he's heard, Eren was the boy who saw his mother get eaten by a titan right in front of his own eyes when he was a child. This traumatic event led him to despise the titan and want to wipe all of them out. /I'll give him credit for his bravery,/,Levi thought to himself.
But all Eren was to him was a prisoner, considering he was under trial and Levi was supposed to be the person to keep him in check. Lost in his thoughts, he didn't even realize how long the silence had stretched between them. He shifted once again, "I'm nothing to admire."
@Lance Corporal Levi Eren sat up in his chair, surprised at the question. "Resent you? Why, why no, sir." Eren let the words come slowly, making sure they resounded obsequiously.
He could feel Levi's eyes trained on him, with his cocky gaze burning into his forehead. Eren told himself to be honest, to act natural. After all, he was in the Scouting Legion now. He had to feel a sense of safety somewhere, despite what he had been through in the past. Despite the scurrilous battles of blood and gore. Despite the pain of his comrades, and his fellow trainees. The emotional turmoil was impossible to delineate, yet somehow, Eren felt himself longing for trust. Even though he knew he could only be abandoned bereft in the end.
A brief silence hung in the air before Eren's voice engaged them both again. His feeling of intimidation was no longer so intense, but was instead replaced with determination, "Actually, sir, I quite admire you."
@Eren Yeagar Levi watched Eren as he sat down across from him. Although he tried to hide it, Levi knew when someone was in pain, whether it was caused by him or not. Starting from when he was picked up to become trainee, all he saw was death and pain. The death of old and new friends was something that Levi had gotten used to as he learned to never cling to one person. It was something that he had to live with all his life, so it would only be natural for him to recognize these feelings. Or at least that's what he thought.
Levi tilted his head to the side, leaning on the back of his hand, "Do you really not resent me, Eren?"
@Lance Corporal Levi "Y-yes sir!" Eren replied hastily as he took a seat. He tried to avoid Heichou's gaze for he was slightly intimidated by him, although he would never admit that.
Eren shifted uncomfortably in his seat and suddenly felt a sharp pain in his side. He was instantly reminded of his earlier beating in the courtroom. He winced, but instantly tried to suppress it. Unfortunately, Heichou had already noticed.
As he stared at the floor, Eren found his feet taking him to a new unexplored room. The castle was vast, and he still hadn't seen all of it. He wandered around as if in a daze before settling for a room at the end of the corridor. He pushed open the door to reveal Levi-san sitting in solitude at the main table. His expression was serious, as always, yet Eren got the sense that he was open to company.
"Err Levi-san?"
Levi entered the castle after take a short stroll. The sounds coming from his boots echoed throughout the seemingly empty room as he made his way to the main table. He sat down and waited for others to arrive, unsure of what to do alone. Even though he preferred the solitude, some company in the room wouldn't hurt.
