Police Station

The police station, with a temporary holding prison in the back. Territory of the Fallen Angels.

@T.O.P As a warming sensation swept up her shoulder and to her neck, healing it slightly, Minzy gave the guard a grateful look, but kept in mind that she WAS supposed to be a prisoner and not actually friendly with the older male. A blank, stony look was on her face at his words, but she gave him a slight nod to show that she understood. The clink of the handcuffs was enough to tense her body up like a tightly wound coil while her mind whirred with ways to simply escape, but she kept abnormally still as the steel bracelets closed around her slender gloved wrists.

Minzy obediently kept her head down and avoided all eye contact as she was led through the police station to where she presumed the most obscure exit was, but kept a note of the way to go. [OOC: FAIL. That was fail...] When they finally reached the alley, the young thief had a few heart-stopping moments of panicking that she was just going to get a bullet to the head for all her pains when she heard a clinking and the handcuffs slipped off her wrists.

She turned her head incredulously and moved into a half-crouch until she saw the note extended to her and unfolded it, reading it quickly, barely registering the soft click of the door as it shut behind the Fallen guard as she nodded. Tucking the note away in a secure pocket, Minzy quickly darted off down the alleyway and scaled the wall, taking the rooftop way home as she exulted to herself. She was FREE!

Until Wednesday, anyways...

Figuring that the binding chair was the reason for the girl's bruises, the look on the Fallen's face softened slightly as he held the door open for her. His sharp eyes didn't miss the bruise that was evident on her neck, the older man stepping a bit closer as she would be making her way out of the cell. The wariness that had possessed him earlier was now softened as a gentle hand was placed on the girl's shoulder. "Wait. Let me heal you," the Fallen said quietly, holding her back from going anywhere.
With a close of his eyes and a deep breath, a small ripple of energy from the ground shot up his shoulder and into his arm... Going into Minzy's shoulder and making the bruise on her neck a bit less obvious. That done, a quiet sigh escaped the man as he stepped back, shrugging apologetically, "Sorry. It would be better if the other humans outside didn't see how terrible that chair is... Meant for Demons and Vampires to be in it, really."
But then, the man could sense that hanging around here with the girl outside of her cell would be... Disastrous for both of them if they got caught. Following his leader's orders as soon as possible would be for the best as he then composed himself into the strict police man he was supposed to be and nodded curtly to her. With a sharp look back that was supposed to keep her in line to any humans watching, he snapped the handcuffs back onto the girl's wrists behind her back and pushed her gently for her to get walking...
And walking they did, winding through the various hallways and rooms of the station before the backdoor came in view. Even though he was technically supposed to be bringing her for more "interrogation", the intent behind Seunghyun's words were well-known to this being. Shooting a glance around for any humans (which there might only be the janitor, but luckily for them, he was off somewhere else), the Fallen pushed open the door and quickly Minzy after it, slipping out right after her.
As soon as the door was firmly shut behind them, half-hidden in the shadows of the alley behind the police station, that was when the Fallen made quick work to unlock her and slip away those handcuffs. But even in the darkness, his angelic eyes still had a glitter in them as the note that Seunghyun had given him appeared out from inside of his coat and handed over to Minzy. "Here. The Don wanted me to give this to you. Most likely instructions on what he wants but... Knowing him, he IS quite unpredictable," the Fallen murmured quietly, a quiet chuckle slipping out afterwards. "Good luck, miss. Hope that the Necromancers don't have to bring in your dead body..." he muttered more quietly before a farewell nod to the girl and heading back inside before anyone missed his presence.

The paper that Minzy held in her hand was... Made of quite fine paper, folded over three times perfectly. A sign of what a perfectionist Seunghyun was really, but inside... Written in most elegant and perfect script that anyone had ever seen was the real prize. The letters seemed almost as if printed, each written in a beautiful and flowing cursive that couldn't be much more perfect. Even if the language, the Don had attempted to speak in a more "street" way for her...

Dear Minzy,
Please excuse me for my absence in freeing you. I had quite the rough night and work is piling up behind me. But I will make this short as you must want to get to work soon.
After you have finished with whatever deeds you want, please meet me at the library next week on Wednesday, 1pm. Please be prompt and on time so that we may discuss the details of what you wish to acquire from us.
With care,
Choi Seunghyun

@T.O.P True to form, the young thief had snapped awake about as soon as the Fallen don started conversing with the guard outside her door. It was more of the sound of his footsteps that alerted her to his presence more than anything else. The whispered conversation didn't go unnoticed, as Minzy shifted just a fraction of an inch in order to hear better. A slight chill ran over her then, and she knew that someone was looking directly at her. IN response, she let her muscle relax a little so it wouldn't be so obvious that she was indeed eavesdropping.

It was an odd thing, being able to hear that well. Even the people who'd first taken her in when she was a snot-nosed whelp were surprised at how well she could hear the tumblers of safe locks falling into place, or police sirens on their way... or how she could see tripwires which were supposed to be near-invisible, or how she knew just how to hopscotch across a pressure-sensitized floor that was notoriously hair-trigger. Soon, she was a regular on the "big kids'" jaunts at robbery, being an absurdly quick learner and tiny enough to pass as a younger sibling when the police came by.

Minzy had heard whispers among the older kids of the gang that perhaps... perhaps the little orphan was more than human. Maybe she had some vampire in her? But she showed no interest in blood... instead, they'd had a few scares with the police because someone had gotten cut and she'd fainted at the sight of blood, which forced them to carry her unconscious form back to the abandoned apartment complex they called home. The most impulsive she'd gotten was throwing rocks through windows in a rival gang's territory from a rooftop on THEIRS because she was upset at not being able to go with the older ones on a heist.

And all of them were more nocturnal anyways and slept during the day. Little wonder that little Kitten slept away the daylight hours when she got back from a heist. No insomnia... the child was near impossible to rouse if she hadn't had at least 10 hours of sleep. And even if you DID get her up, it was hilarious to watch her stumble around looking for her shoes, which were on her feet the whole time. Not quite so hilarious when she started crying in a most heart-breaking manner, then throwing fits about everyone laughing at her and not being able to go with her beloved oppas and unnis on "trips."

Demon? She couldn't control either fire or water, as evidenced by her wailing when a bit of hot water landed on her leg, scalding her a little. She certainly didn't feed on anyone's life forces, unless it happened while they slept.

Fallen... the child's vices were gluttony and wrath, if anything. Her initial tantrums were something to behold, and she ate like a little pig when some unwitting benefactress decided to "adopt" Minzy and a few of the better-looking street kids as "faces" for a charity program and took them to a high-class buffet, but that was about it.

Necromancer? ...Couldn't be... no one SANE went near them, and no one had seen the big-eyed child talking to "herself" or any other ghostly creatures. All the older kids could conclude in their whispered confidences amongst themselves was that she was simply... special. And special was why she came so highly recommended in the criminal underworld, and why she was now in the employment of the don of the Fallen, free to steal all she wanted from demons and their ilk while under the protection of the police.

Once she heard the cell door unlocking, and the guard asked about her somnolent state, Minzy sat up, shaking her head to make the stray strands of hair fall back into place. "I'm awake, sir." Mindful of the caution and wariness written on the older man's face, she gave him a cheek smile, making sure to keep both her hands in full view, placed on her knees. "Got somethin' for me, gov'na?" The girl queried hoarsely, rolling her ankles and wincing at the pain lancing through them. "Best for me to get a move on for my first job, yeah?" An angry red mark was starting to show up on , sure to turn blue and purple within the week and making speech somewhat difficult for the thief.

The night passed fairly... Quickly, it seemed. Or more like, things were being done and Seunghyun hardly had a time to actually sit down and rest at all. So much traveling that eventually when he looked at the clock on the wall of the station, it was already 4 in the morning. Just one more hour before the sun would rise... And the Fallen hardly had any time to actually prepare to get Minzy out at all. Or what to do in fact really...
Running a hand through his currently dark hair and rubbing his temples, the Don hurried to his office to grab a piece of paper and a pen to write with. Knowing that he would be busy for a quite a bit longer, it didn't seem plausible that he would be able to meet her in person. Better than nothing to give her a note... Which he quickly scribbled down in that elegant script that Angels, Fallen or not, seemed to possess naturally.
Note in hand, the Fallen made his way out to the cell, peeking around the door at the seemingly slumbering girl with her hood on. Turning towards her guard, all Seunghyun had to do was raise an eyebrow in inquiry about her before the fellow Fallen quietly murmured to his leader, "She's been sleeping the entire time, sir."
Seeing that all was going as planned, the Don then nodded slightly before handing over the folded piece of paper to the cop. "You know how to get her out of here. Hand this to her before she leaves though," he quietly spoke back to the guard before throwing one last glance at the human girl... Hopefully with all the faith that Seunghyun had in her, she wouldn't fail him or get caught. That didn't seem likely, but one could never be sure about anything, something that the Fallen was absolutely sure about.
That done, the Don was now out of the picture as he made his way out of the cell and back to a another deluge of work that he had to do...
---
The Fallen waited there patiently until a couple more minutes passed before he cautiously peeked out of the room, watching if anyone was around... Seeing that the coast was clear, then the male cautiously unlocked the door of the cell, making a quiet clank as the bolt opened. "Miss? Are you awake?" he called out in a low voice with eyes trained on the huddled girl, still wary of anyone seeing him in action...

Almost unconsciously, Minzy pouted a little before pulling away from the bars. "It's alright... y'can't help it, I guess." She was just about to turn away and mope in the corner when the guard spoke up again. The... Don? The head of the Fallen? Hm... "I haven't seen the don, unless you're talkin' 'bout Mr. Choi. IN which case... I don't think he's taken a liking to me any more than he sees me as a means to an end. And the feelin's mutual, I guess. I get my jobs done, get my revenge in bit by bit, all under the protection of you fine folk." The gravity of the Fallen guard's gaze said struck her then, and Minzy blinked once, twice. "Huh... guess I'm the odd one out again..."

Sighing, she stepped away from the bars and climbed onto the hard, stained cot and faced the wall, pulling a hood over her head and squeezing her eyes shut. It didn't take too long before the effects of the light and her rough night combined to knock the poor girl out into a light doze. Even in sleep, she wasn't totally relaxed, and it showed in the tension in her wiry frame. Any suspicious sound would rocket her out of her sleep, knife in hand... Minzy hadn't had a proper day's sleep since the night of the warehouse discovery. Still, she tried to get as much sleep as she could before having to wake up again for her first job under the protection of the Fallen.

At the voice of the "prisoner" behind the bars, the man then turned towards her, his face mostly impassive... Except for a slight twinkle in his eye that said how amused he really was right now at the whole situation. One of the Fallen who were posing as policemen since the police chief was his Don... Raising an eyebrow, the man glanced around the hallway that led into the room before edging closer to her, murmuring to the younger girl, "Sorry miss... The lighting is fixed at only one setting. It only turns on and off."
The look on his face was apologetic as he shrugged, looking at her curiously, "So the Don took a liking to you?" Chuckling quietly, he shook his head before starting to slowly move back to his position. "Be grateful that it was so, because I've worked for him ever since I came down to Earth and... He isn't one to be that lenient with humans brought into the station," giving her a knowing look that held much more than just what she would think, clearing his throat as he turned away.
"Just try to turn towards the wall and sleep. We'll get you out before the sun rises," he assured her, turning back into the impassive guard that he was supposed to be as his arms were crossed in front of his chest.

@T.O.P Minzy's eyes lit up when the Fallen mentioned that she could start as soon as she got let out, but her face fell when he added the whole "which won't be for a few hours." She had just opened to complain, but he simply held up a finger and gave her a long excuse that made sense but which didn't really apply to her. Raising a finger from where she sat, she cleared to "Eh, good copper sir... people don't care where I am. I'm Shadow. I move around, I'm never in one place for long. I have little living areas all over the slums, and the only ones who know where I am are the street kids who act as my messengers. Poor tykes have enough troubles of their own to worry about without having to check in on me all the time. All they do is keep ears out for any jobs and run that information to me." A dramatic sigh of annoyance, and she relaxed back in the chair. "But... I guess that's good enough."

The Fallen stood up and left the room, but not before leaving her with his name. "Mr. Choi... Eh, I'll listen to them if'n they treat me right and not rough me up like they did earlier." No sooner had he left than the bonds around her wrists, ankles, and neck loosened. However, the thief was barely able to start a mental celebration before she was grabbed up and dragged to a brightly lit solitary cell. "So bright!" she wailed softly, covering her eyes as the door slammed shut behind her. "C'n one o' you fine gents turn the lights down?" Already she was starting to feel a bit out of sort, drowsiness starting to creep over her.

It was odd, really. Ever since she was little, bright lights made her sleepy... especially if she'd been living in relative darkness for the past 5 years of her life as she had been, only coming out at night to run her own errands and do her jobs. Eyes squinted against the brightness, she went up to the front of the cell, curling her small hands around the thick bars of the cell and pressing her face against them, trying to look relatively pitiful for the nice-looking older male that stood there. "Sir, we're on the same side now, see? I'm a good girl, really, and I'm just stayin' here until morning. Or something. Please, could you turn the... the..." Minzy's plea was interrupted by a huge yawn, and she shook her head to clear it. "Please turn the lights down? They hurt my eyes terribly, sir."

At the mutter that Minzy had, the smirk that Seunghyun sported only got that much larger as he inclined his head slightly at her answer. Curious as he was about her, the past that the girl had, the Fallen HAD to know... So seizing the moment, he indulged another mind reading, but again... It was blurry and brief. Something about Demons burning something down and her being unable to do a thing about that? Seemed like a good enough reason to take him up on the offer he made for her actually...
The demonic looking smirk that the human girl had for him as an answer was hardly enough to faze the Don in any way, simply returning the same smirk that he had towards her with his piercing gaze boring into her once more. At least Seunghyun was able to wield that over Minzy as he continued to watch her... Withdrawing himself out of her mind before she could notice that he was reading her again.
At all the questions that she was firing at him though, the Fallen simply sat back into his seat, looking relaxed and calm as ever. Clicking his tongue, he shook his head teasingly at her first, his dark eyes filled with bemusement and interest in this unpredictable little human girl. Glancing down towards her bonds that she seemed to testing again, he stated, "You can start once you get out here..." his eyes flitting back up to her face again, "Which is unfortunately, won't be for a couple more hours."
Raising a finger since he knew that Minzy would have questions for him, Seunghyun continued on, "Before you ask me why since I just said that you can now do your deeds to the Demons and Vampires, let me state why." Fixing his gaze on her the entire time, he calmly spoke, "The normal humans will be suspicious if you disappeared away from us so quickly. At least we will have to keep you here in the cell for the night... And then tomorrow morning before any of them come back, you'll be free to wreak all the havoc you want on them. Under our protection, of course."
The glimmer of mischief in his eyes grew as he now stood up to leave the room. Turning his head back towards Minzy, he said quietly, "Call me Mr. Choi. I'm sure you'll know my other names later... And for now, just follow what the guards say, hm?" the door swinging open after his words for the Fallen to saunter out and several police men to fill the room with suspicious eyes as the binds around her loosened after a few moments, courtesy of Seunghyun having given the order.
As soon as that happened though, the men then roughly grabbed the girl and with only a growled warning of, "Don't try to escape, rat," marched her towards the back of the station towards a solitary cell that was quite brightly lit. Opening the door and throwing her in, the majority of them left... Except for one older yet quite handsome man who threw her a knowing nod before standing guard at the door.
Minzy 11 years ago
It was taking a hell of a lot longer than "in a bit" for the Fallen to return, and Minzy's patience was starting to wear a bit thin. Still, to struggle after the bonds were released would simply mean that they would tighten up again... an experience that the thief never wanted to encounter. Sighing, she shut her eyes as she imagined all the jobs she could have been doing, and went through her mental list of how to avoid pressure sensors, motion detectors, and the like. Probably not too wise in hindsight, seeing how she was in a room surrounded by Fallen, but then again, telepathy could only work so far.

Just when she started arranging a mental inventory of the meager equipment she had, a commotion started up outside, lots of people talking and chattering away. /Guess the cavalry's back. Wonder if Frosty the Snowman's with them.../ Just then the door opened, and her interrogator strolled in, cool as snow and as silent and graceful as one of the big cats she'd seen at the zoo when she was little. /Ah... Speak of the Fallen, and he shall appear, if his lackeys don't get in the way first./

At the question and the subsequent smirk, though, Minzy had to fight hard to not roll her eyes or say something snarky and sarcastic and generally disrespectful. "I'm in," she muttered simply, eyes on the table between them. "It's... practically what I would have given an arm and a leg for, growing up. Guess two near-broken ankles and a bruised throat is enough payment, yes?" The thief looked up to meet his eyes as a smirk of her twisted her pretty features into something... near-demonic and twisted. "I can steal and be under the protection of the law? What's not to like?" She wriggled her fingers and curled them into small fists before rolling her head around on her neck. "So, when do I start? And what IS your name? Y'don't tell me, I'll just keep calling you Frosty."

As soon as the door was closed, that was when Seunghyun heard from his man that the gangs were acting up... And the Fallen knew exactly which ones those were, the only ones that would really try and stir up trouble here... Which even though as much as he would like to simply keep an eye on Minzy, it wasn't possible with the work that had to be done right now. But at least, moving to the control station behind the one-way mirror, the Don ordered the men there to at least loosen the girl's restraints somewhat so that she could have a comfortable time sitting there. No use in just keeping her stiffened up like a doll and potentially causing some sort of permanent damage to her...
At least getting out of the police station and back took less time than he had expected but even so, Seunghyun made sure to keep a close eye on his watch... 15 minutes... 30 minutes... The investigation took about 45 minutes in general. But what met his eyes at the sight was simply... Gruesome. While most of the humans were slow to prod and pick around the terribly burned and clawed corpse, the Fallen knew exactly what sort of creature had done this. Demons, of course, those foul bestial creatures of Hell that only fueled his anger towards them... And someone else who was waiting back at the station too.
So as soon as the Don had stepped right into the station, he hardly even stopped to grab anything to eat as most of the men who had accompanied him went off towards the break room the chat and relax after the terrifying sight of the mangled body. Not for Seunghyun though, instantly making his way to the control room and inquiring about Minzy... Nothing it seemed from her. NO signs of struggle, just waiting there patiently and silent for him to return.
At that, a smug smile curled its way onto the Fallen's features as he nodded in approval and moved out to open the interrogation door. And just as it was, there she was as he silently made his way back over to the chair that was his with the liquid grace of a panther. Dark eyes glittering with interest, Seunghyun hardly had to prod into her mind again as he took a seat again, crossing his arms over his chest. Tilting his head to one side, Seunghyun purred out, "Well? What is your choice, Minzy?" a slight smile curled on his lips as he watched her with the intensity of a hunting hawk.

As pained as she was, Minzy still managed to level a glare at the Fallen as she felt him poking around in her mind. While it wasn't as much of a shock as it had been the first time he'd done so, it was still an unfamiliar feeling. The cuffs and collar had stopped their constricting, but she could swear that there were going to be hairline fractures in her ankles, and an impressive bruise on her neck... much like the one she'd sported for a good 3 months when she was but a street pup begging for change...

Closing her eyes and banishing the memory from her mind, the girl darted her gaze to the Fallen's impossibly dark eyes as he pitched the proposal her way. Protection from the Fallen, from the cops? Hm... that was certainly part of the Holy Grail for street kids and gutter trash like herself. Her ears pricked up at the mention of revenge against the demons... revenge against the ones who'd killed the only family she had after age 7. More memories flashed in her mind...

******************
"You'll regret it!" "We'll make you pay..."

15-year-old Minzy couldn't shake the chills that ran down her spine at the demons' words, but she still kept a carefully crafted, thoroughly bored expression on her face. "Like I said, not interested. I'm sorry, gents, but I don't like hurting people to get my goodies. And besides, I still have my own little gang to run. I can't just up and leave them. Maybe you can try the 5th Street Snakes. They've got some leadership issues going on, and the old leader's just about ready to leave. He might want to join up with you, and he's almost as good as I am. And THAT'S saying something."

Her quick eyes darted around, noting the whispered confidences in the back ranks, then narrowed as a few demons loped off somewhere. "It's been a pleasure doing business with you, gents. See you around." There was a nagging feeling in the back of her mind as she ducked around the corner and practically disappeared from view, quickly scaling the walls to take the rooftop shortcut back to her little hideout. That gang was notorious for keeping their word, particularly when it came to threats. Why they had to hold the meeting clear across town was beyond her... until she saw smoke rising from the direction of the gang's hideout. "Oh, please, no..."

The sheer carnage that met her eyes was not one she'd forget easily. Flames at the night sky from that abandoned warehouse she and her little band of miscreants, all under the age of 13, had called home. Choking on the smoke, Minzy had run inside to see who could be saved, only to see the bodies of the older kids strewn across the floor, widening puddles of blood spreading underneath their still forms, their throats opened wide in a grim parody of a smile. "No, nononono!" She tried shaking them awake, praying that it was some sick prank they were playing, but got no response. The smell of blood was everywhere, and the sticky red substance clung to her hands and clothes...

Her panicked eyes darted up to the second story, the littl'ins sleeping quarters... THAT was where most of the smoke and muffled cries came from, and the girl flew up the stairs to check on "her" babies, all 8 years old and under, surely much too young to have to suffer the wrath of the demons... She was wrong. The door was bolted shut from the inside, and she could hear the little ones screaming for help, screaming for her as the firelight shone out from under the door and they pounded on the thick wooden door...

***************************

The thief jerked back to the present, hands clenched into tight fists as she fought from crying, but that didn't stop a stray tear or two from spilling over onto her cheeks. She didn't really remember how she survived that fire, but she bore the scars on her hands and arms from trying to break open the door, then the window that led into the room. Burn marks speckled her back and abdomen, shiny sections of skin that reminded her of her hatred towards demons every time she looked at them. Protection granted by the Fallen (and, by extension, the cops) and revenge against demons... She was in. Now all she had to do was wait until her interrogator came back to tell him so...

Legs crossed, an air of relaxation around him, Seunghyun was certainly in his territory and area of specialty... Unluckily for Minzy, who was his victim for today. But it was of great amusement for the Fallen to be able to see how her human mind would speak the words she would say to itself first and THEN hear it actually from . For some reason, that never failed to keep him interested, like hearing a echo...
But the Fallen couldn't help but laugh at the fact that this street rat was much more perceptive than he had ever imagined, earning a grudging bit of respect from the Don as his dark eyes glittered at her with a slight smirk on his sharp features. The change in her tone came as almost as a surprise to Seunghyun though as now more than ever, he was interested in this figure... Diving into her mind for the brief moment to catch a snapshot of her past before her mind drifted off to other things again. Though his own head inclined a bit at her, plans were clicking and whirring together for this special individual...
It didn't seem like she wanted to be on his good side for much long as a brief moment of irritation passed through his eyes, the windows to his soul, at the words that she was saying... While others would want to keep their manners as well-kept as possible around a cop, that didn't seem to apply to Minzy, only increasing his grudging respect for this girl.
The sight of her trying to escape the confines of the chair only made the Fallen now chuckle dryly as he finished the now lurk-warm drink, standing up from his own chair. "Didn't I tell you before that the more you struggle, the worse it gets? This chair AND the room were made to contain anyone and anything. So even if you were to escape from the chair somehow... There still wouldn't be exactly an escape for you to go," he commented casually as if speaking about the weather instead, the bonds around her wrists tightening even more than before.
Shaking his head though, the Don now fixed his dark eyes directly on the girl's restrained ones, seeming as if it could sear directly into her heart and see the truth there, which wasn't far from the truth actually. His words were now much more serious and heavy as he spoke, "I'm going to offer you an easier way for both of us than having to keep you here," pausing slightly to let that sink in first for Minzy, "Considering that you don't have quite a hatred for Fallen as you do for the Demons, it would be quite an advantage for both of us if... You would join us."
Raising a finger, it was enough to shush anything that she wanted to say as he continued, "No, we're not going to turn you like how those disgusting Vampires do, but as an Associate of the Fallen, you WILL earn protection from us. AND," his eyes glittering even more now, "More importantly for you, both money and revenge against the Demons." Knowing that a deal wouldn't be so easily made with this Human, the Don now quietly made his way over to the door just before a knock was given on it and a middle-aged cop popped his head in to nod at the chief for his attention.
Giving the man a returning nod that signaled him to hold the door open for the Fallen, Seunghyun casually added for her, "Think about it Minzy. I'll be back in a bit, so you can have this time to muse it over. It's a win-win situation for both of us," just before the door was closed behind the Don again and she was left there alone in the restraining chair.
Minzy 11 years ago
The glance to the mirror behind her did not go unnoticed by the thief, and she made a mental note of the location of the tormentors, all the while pushing snatches of songs to the forefront of her mind in an attempt to shield her thoughts from the telepathic Fallen. "I'm calm, I'm calm," she whispered softly, eyes downcast but still wary. The shiny metal surface of the table in front of her was enough to see the reflection of her interrogator in the near mirror-like surface, and for that the bob-haired girl was glad. No need to look up and meet his eyes when she could just look at his reflection...

"What signs gave you away?" The girl laughed shortly and shook her head. "You been on the streets long's I have, you tend to notice patterns. For being ex-angels, you Fallen tend to have some issues with one sin or another. I seen your type in the ladies' district of town. AND you tend to work in police stations, too. Which I wouldn't really know about, since this has been the first time in a LONG time since I've been caught." Her eyes darted up to search his warily. "So who're YOU? Head interrogator, some detective, second in command to the almighty Fallen who runs the copp- fine men of the law and what used his mind tricks to get my name."

Even as she conversed with the Fallen, the girl sat absolutely still, feeling the restraints slowly loosen from her limbs. Seemed that the longer she sat still, the more room she was given to move... which meant escape sooner or later. "And besides. I don't associate myself with demon scum..." Here Minzy paused as an involuntary snarl rumbled from . Bitterness infused her voice when she mentioned demons as her eyes narrowed with pure hate, but after a few moments, she was able to compose herself enough to continue. The calmer she made herself, the better her language improved. She couldn't pass for upper-class, but she certainly didn't sound like the screaming, cursing gutter rat that had been bodily dragged and restrained in the chair. "...I certainly don't hang around vampires too much, and I haven't been around a graveyard enough to see any necromancers. You didn't seem like any of the above, and you're too much of a looker to be a human in this day and age. So Fallen it is. Elementary, Dr. Watson."

This last part was in accented English as a small smile spread across her grimy face. But after a few moments, the smile disappeared and the dark-haired girl tilted her head ever so slightly to one side as she perused her companion's features. "How we humans word what we say...? Oh, you mean the way I says things. Well, y' can't really 'spect me to talk all proper, growing up on the streets and all. Didn't have a proper education, like." Minzy grinned cheekily as a flash of... something... Annoyance, perhaps?... crossed the Fallen's face at her intentional butchering of the language, but she just as quickly grew serious. "But I CAN read, and I can speak properly enough to be able to go and buy groceries and suchlike. Not that you'd need to know anything about shopping, all high and mighty as you are. Prolly have people to do that for you."

A sour note was in her voice again as she recalled just where she was, restrained in an interrogation room in the dreaded police station... the one place all street kids try to avoid. That and the graveyard, but that was expected. A quick flash of movement, and the girl whisked her arms free of the restraints, having waited for the cuffs to open up enough... In response, the chair bore down even more on her ankles, and Minzy let out a short, sharp cry as small cracking sounds were made audible even through the fabric and was harshly compressed, cutting off her voice and breathing...

At the yelps and screeches that the human continued to lavish on him, Seunghyun simply had the ghost of a amused look on his face... While crossing his leg over and sipping the drink in hand. It didn't seem like she understood him the first time, and not to mention, the men that she had put up a fight with were getting back at her now. Painfully, much more painful than the girl would have done to them.
Simple mindset reversal of humans, he mused silently as the Fallen didn't really cease not going through her mind. Arching an eyebrow, at her exclamation, the shock that was given to her seemed too much for the girl... His sharp eyes flitting over to the one-way mirror on the wall behind the girl and shaking his head slightly, signalling the men to stop with the cruel shocks. Sadly, the girl could squirm and struggle as much as she wanted, but the chair was designed to keep in vampires, demons, North Koreans... Any sort of being. As well as the room itself too.
So with the quiet request that came his way, that was when Seunghyun resumed his prodding into her mind, though this time much less extensive as it was before. "If you would cease with the struggling and decide to sit quietly and calm down. My men will not punish you any more," he stated in a low yet firm tone. That was when a meaningful look was shot towards the mirror again, the drink half-finished as he raised it to his mouth once more.
Then a slight rueful smile curled his lips as those piercing orbs resumed to scanning the girl's lighter eyes, "I am pleased to see that you have correctly identified me..." shaking his head slightly as the Fallen quickly quelled any of her concerns, "The room was built so that no one can hear anything besides us. So tell me, what signs gave me away so quickly? It is not often when a human can identify a Fallen in their midst... Not until we want to show ourselves as who we really are," a glimmer of amusement in his eyes that was accompanied by a low chuckle as he added in too, "Try and keep me out of your mind Minzy, but it is much more interesting to see how you humans word what you say..." always keeping his strong gaze on her...
Minzy 11 years ago
The girl yelped as she was hauled into the room and forcibly sat down in a chair, a collar going around her neck and anchoring her to the steel contraption that was bolted down to the floor. As if by magic, restraints appeared and fastened her ankles to the chair legs and pinned her wrists and elbows down to the unyielding steel frame of the chair. Still, she struggled and snapped at the officers, sharp eyes catching a glimpse of someone standing just inside the doorway. "Lemme outta here!" she wailed, and was rewarded with a shock to and a tightening of the restraints.

/Well. THAT'S not going to work.../ As that thought ran through her head and her struggles quieted, the individual who was standing in the doorway made his silent way into the room. His progress to the more comfortable-looking chair across from her was tracked by sharp, cinnamon-brown doe eyes which were currently narrowed in mixed hate and concentration. /Fallen... he's a Fallen! ...And he doesn't look half-bad either.../ At his quiet suggestion, which almost seemed to laugh at her, the dark-haired girl's lips curled into a smile (more a snarl than anything else) as she wiggled and squirmed in the steel chair's embrace. "Thank ye. I'll keep 'at in mind. 'Slong as you keep out of MINE, Fallen. 'S mighty hard tryna concentrate (ow) on gettin' free of here wifout your pokin' and proddin'."

Now that she was calmed down, her manners returned to her, if only a little, even though her use of the mother tongue was of the street dialect, not one spoken by the upper crust of society. However, at the Fallen's NEXT remark, her well-meaning curl of the lip was transformed into an expression of slight embarrassment. One not often seen on one of "her kind," but the chagrin was only there for a split second before it was replaced with a "not sorry" look... AND improved language. "No need to apologize, Fallen. And no, I was not 'raiding' the premises. Simply doing a bit of complimentary house cleaning. Demon bastard certainly needed it, 's what I'm thinkin', seeing as he wasn't gonna be usin' that vase for anything anyways... STAY OUT OF MY HEAD, DAMN IT!" That particular exclamation was followed by an extra-strong shock to her body, which had her convulsing for a few seconds before going limp.

"C'n you tell 'em to turn the shocks of, copper?" she wheezed softly, a minute or so later, trying not to let any weakness or pain into her voice. The restraints had tightened once more, and were threatening to cut past the material of her black jumpsuit and into her flesh, which was nowhere near as resilient as that of a demon or vampire's. Already she could feel bruises coming up... she was sure to sport impressive welts on her person within the half-hour.

The day for Seunghyun had been going on... Quite uneventful for once. So uneventful that it was almost a shock to the police chief to see that the clock was about to strike 12am already... Already? About ready to go ahead, pack up and go home, a sudden call from one of his men's patrol caught his attention.
Mind you, these were normal human cops, not Fallen or his gang members. The report that they filing for him was interesting at least... A thief broke in a billionaire's house and while they were talking to Seunghyun, 4 of their comrades were going to intercept the suspect. The information about /four/ men being sent in was quite a surprise to the Don, instantly wondering about what sort of creature it was... Demon perhaps? Or maybe Vampire... The Fallen had absolute certainty that it wasn't one of his fellow beings. Too much honor and virtue on the line...
But filled in with these new and interesting pieces of information, Seunghyun now opted to stay back to confront this "thief"... Requiring him to go out first and get himself some sort of caffeine to keep him awake and alert. That was easily accomplished with the cafe nearby, getting himself a cup of peppermint mocha while the men kept him up to date with everything... And as the puzzle clicked together, it was more unexpected that he had thought. A girl, late teens, sneaking into such a well-guarded house and scratching up 4 of his men? Perhaps... He had overestimated this girl. Maybe she was nothing but a VERY skilled human...
Whatever the case was, at least the Fallen could be patient enough to simply interrogate (hence prod into her mind) once she got here. Warming his hand with the piping drink and occasionally sipping from it, the peace of the building was shattered as the screeches and yells of the suspect brought most of the curious eyes out to note the girl pinned between the four much taller and battered men...
A look around from Seunghyun at the watching people got them to sit down instantly as he then he silently ghosted after the struggling company to the interrogation room... Leaning against the doorway and sipping at the drink as the Don watched his men snap her into the neck collar. Not even that seemed to affect the girl, a slight curl of his lips in admiration of her guts. Or perhaps it was just stupidity, the Fallen not having to pry into her mind to know that this was a girl who had never gotten a decent education.
Seeing as most of the men were panting and had QUITE irritated looks on their faces, that was when Seunghyun announced his presence by speaking up quietly, "Leave us. I will do the interrogation," their eyes snapping over in unison to the Boss before realization set in soon after and they bowed, wasting no time to get out of there and away from the struggling girl. Once the humans were gone, the Fallen quietly closed the door after them... Ensuring that their conversation would not be heard by anyone, human or not.
Still seeing that the thief was struggling, Seunghyun offered a piece of advice as he circled around the bound chair to sit in a much more free chair opposite of her, "Struggling will only make it more uncomfortable and painful. It was designed to do so." Sipping at the delicious drink, the Fallen's almost pitch black eyes and mind were searching hers... Raising an eyebrow as he added in too, "And I am sorry to disappoint, but I am not the son of a demon either... Though you seemed to be raiding one's house tonight?" A faint smirk was ghosted on his sharp features as interesting scraps of information were brought out to him... Interesting indeed this girl was... Though quite pretty with the rebellious bob that she sported even with all the grime and dirt on her face...

@T.O.P Life in this particular part of Seoul was never really quiet, but one particular person was certainly not helping with the keeping of the peace. Which was odd, given how she was barely 5'5" and 100 pounds soaking wet. "Lemme go, stinkin' coppers!" the girl hissed, kicking and struggling as the four policemen dragged her into the well-lit police station. A lot of good it did her, toes suspended a good few inches above the ground and her arms pinioned behind her back. The officers looked like they'd gone a few rounds with an alley cat, and it wasn't too far from the truth, given how the kicking, cursing girl in their grasp was about as fierce and slippery as one.

They'd FINALLY caught her at a sting at some fat cat demon's place, where she'd been caught red-handed lifting a priceless vase... which she had promptly thrown at them. The vase a replica, but it had taken a precious seconds of frantic scrambling before they were able to actually start up on the chase. THAT had taken more time than they'd liked... one girl was surprisingly hard to catch, even in a house with sealed-off exits. The four had privately agreed to say that she'd had backup with her, hence the scratches and bruises that decorated their faces.

"Sit down and shut up, you little rat!" hissed a particularly hacked-off officer as he cuffed her on the back of the neck. That had the effect of stunning the dark-haired girl for a few seconds as her bobbed hair fell around her doll-like, begrimed features.

The few moments of reprieve were quickly used up as the angry girl popped back to life, kicking at everything within reach with bound legs. "I demands to speak to your s'periors!" she screeched, thrashing around for all she was worth. "This ain't no way to treat a suss-peck, and a lie-dy at that! Let go'a me! Where's the sorry son of a demon hag what's in charge!" Years on the street had plainly done nothing for her language. To say nothing of her manners...

For any normal person, it would be completely infuriating the way that TOP just sat there, taking it all with a seemingly smug expression on his face and then lecturing him even more. However, Ren quickly cooled down whether he wanted to or not. He wasn't created, shaped as the kind of being capable of a large emotional capacity. They would get in his way, they always taught, and he had found that out as true by his own experiences and his alone.
His frame was still tense as the other was talking, eyebrows furrowing. Did the Boss really not understand? Even if they were of the same kind, aligned on the same side, they really lived in two separate worlds. It was frustrating how TOP just didn't seem to get it. None of them did. Ren could tell by the glances they threw at him, the words whispered behind his back when they thought he couldn't hear. None of them knew even the fragments of his story that TOP did, but somehow they all reached the same conclusion. Said one way or another, kindly or with malice, everyone agreed that he was worthless. Ren had reached the same conclusion himself, and now he embraced it at the same level he did to the rest of the world, He didn't care.
"It's nice to see you're in a position to think that way, Boss." He started casually, mostly all traces of his former irritation gone from his voice as he relaxed slightly, leaning back and tilting his head. "But I'm afraid I can't accept your advice when you don't seem to know anything of what I'm talking about. /They/ don't control you. But they do to me. The council wouldn't waste centuries of secrecy about the very nature of my existence by letting me go that easily. No, I was placed here on Earth, to essentially be used to eliminate anyone in their way. That would include the likes of you, except like you said, they don't really care about you or the others. It's bothersome, but there's not really anything I can do except become lost in nothingness, just like you say. I don't really care anymore, about you, about them, anything. Don't try to make me, don't try to change me, unless you're willing to become another one of my special toys to amuse me. With that, this conversation has lost its purpose. Good luck on handling all of that paperwork. In the meantime, if you see so much precious potential in me, you might want to stop me from seeking out that Vampire leader again. I want to see if draining me dry really would kill me indefinitely."
He said with a note of dry humor, but his tone was mainly serious as he revealed his hidden suicidal intentions, before disappearing into the shadows completely.

At the angry words that Ren spat at him, Seunghyun simply sat there... Letting all of those thoughts and emotions wash over him. A thing he learned with Angels, when they get angry, it grew A LOT more difficult for rein in memories and the whatnot from leaking out... And there he was, expression impassive as his mind soaked in all Ren was releasing. Contrary to belief, the Fallen did not have any extra powers concerning knowing and predicting how people would act... It was just that he had honed his to such a point that it was much more easier for him to detect.
So even when the flick of shadows reached out to wrap both of them, Seunghyun had faith, he KNEW that it wouldn't reach them. The Fallen had been at Earth for too long to simply let himself get carried away... Sitting there impassively with absolutely not a sound from him until the younger male had vented out all the anger that was apparent in him.
But cautiously noting that at least most of the fieriness that was there had at least hardened or cooled to some degree, the Leader allowed a moment of silence to let the remaining steam that the Underboss was still containing inside of him... Slowly beginning to gather his things together for it was the end of the day while the feeling of the room simmered down. Suddenly, he began to speak quietly in the midst of the absolute silence, "Perhaps before I did not know you at all, Ren. But now, I do. At least some part of who you are."
Almost pitch black eyes concentrated on the boy glaring over at him, mildly returning the gaze as he continued, "You don't believe in yourself, instead still believing in what THEY told you. This off-hand sort of attitude you're giving me, the world, everything around you? You think it protects you, that you can fool yourself and everyone else. And maybe you HAVE succeeded in fooling yourself because you have definitely fooled the world." A quiet sigh and shake of head as the gentle patronizing was lectured out to Ren, the way an older brother would for a younger sibling, "You think that they, up there, control us?" Seunghyun flickered his eyes up to the ceiling, indicating the sky, "Let me tell you something, I know how they are more than anyone here. I was about to become one of THEM, the Arch Angels..." a bitter laugh escaped from his lips as a cynical smile curled his lips at the memories of the last of his angelic days, forced to kneel in front of the council as his huge magnificent wings were brutally torn off...
"They don't care about us any more than we would for the Demons... They see us as strays, dogs thrown outside to fend for ourselves. Whatever we do, they would rather just see us die so that they can smile and point out to the others angels what a pitiful mess we are. THEY don't control what happens to us here, Ren. WE do," he concluded quietly with eyes closed, his voice calm as always if not just slightly more forceful than usual.

Ren's eye twitched ever so slightly at the other's initial questions, telling himself to stay under control. Even if he'd never let anyone know, this was a rather sore topic and he hated elaborating on it, especially when someone else did that. It was refreshing that his Boss was being truly honest with him, but what did he know? What did anyone know about how he felt, even when he was up in that supposedly perfect place called Heaven? And while he could find himself getting annoyed, angry even, he had been alive a century too long for words like that to break him so quickly. When he opened his mouth to speak, it was quickly shut again by TOP's next words, and Ren could feel the irritation boiling inside of him.
"What do you know?" He asked, keeping his tone under control. "Maybe a long time ago I cared. Maybe there was a time when I would fight for what I wanted, for what believed in, even if the odds were against me. But 'they' broke me of that quickly enough. The real puppet masters behind the scene. Do you really think I became Underboss just on your choice? No, that ty council of untouchable, perfect angels are the ones who did all of this, who created me.
So what are your useless words to me? Why should I care whether you do or not? There's no point. Nothing will change if I do. I'm simply a weapon to be used as they wish, and if I don't meet the qualifications, then they dispose of me. It's that simple. Of course I have so much potential. But is it really what I, what anyone, wants? My powers are purely destructive. Look at it. You control water, which gives life. Even the demons can control fire, which saves lives. True, every power can also be used for destruction, but since when has darkness ever saved anyone?! These shadows that even I sometimes can't control only kill, only destroy. What good is that? Righteous killing for the greater good? That makes me laugh. There's no such thing. Because in the end, someone is sacrificed, someone becomes nothing more than a pawn. And in that instance, it's me."
By then, his voice had risen in intensity, the shadows around the room flickering as if to escape their bonds to the realm outside of the physical world. One more powerful one escaped and lunged towards the desk, threatening to swallow both of them whole before Ren slammed his fist on the wooden desk, the black mass instantly dissipating into nothingness as the Fallen continued to glare at the other.
"You don't know me at all, Boss." He spat.

At the blatantly emotionless response that Seunghyun got, the Fallen was only more intrigued. It was true that before this little talk they were having, he hadn't really tried to know the boy that much... And neither did Ren. And now, he knew EXACTLY why that was. The circumstances that surrounded the Underboss was different from most of the Fallen, including himself... Something that would be more difficult to breach.
Having a more realizing expression on his face, it more or less just popped on there as a habit... Between the two of them, both mind readers, who was he fooling really? And that was one of the best and worst traits of being a Angel, Fallen or not... "Is that so, Ren?" Seunghyun stated quietly, intense gaze still settling on the male in front of him. What he was going to speak about was... Something that hopefully would pull Ren out of that unfeeling and uncaring state that he was really in. That little prison of his own rejection to the world... A world that reduced them to humans. Humans ladled with emotions and all the burdens that came along with it...
"So you believe that you are nothing? Was that what you were considered by the heavens? Just a toy to be used?" eyes never leaving him even as his fingers absently tapped on the wooden desk. "Have you ever cared for something? Anything? Or were you so buried in your uncaring that you never bothered to care about anything?" the Fallen continued to pour questions on him... But Seunghyun was far from being done yet. FAR from it.
Shaking his head slightly, he didn't really bother to mask anything in mind at the moment... Better for Ren to really see that he was being truthful. "Unlike you, I have the burden of caring both for the human population AND the Fallen... I could have been uncaring and simply brushed the humans aside. But no, I care for everyone," eyes now boring deep into the boy's, "And that includes you too. Whether you like it or not, I believe you have something more than just being a puppet in mind. We are not like the Vampires with the Leader being a dictator, the Demons with their anarchy... It wasn't just because you were a ready weapon from heaven that I chose you as the Underboss. You have potential, potential that not many realizes..." tilting his head slightly to one side with an eyebrow raised, "Potential that YOU don't even realize either," searching for how the Fallen would react to those words...
Words that were surprising to himself too that he would say something like that. But by chipping away at Ren's exterior... Seunghyun could only hope that it would slowly bring the boy out into realization...
Ren 11 years ago
TOP didn't have to make such a blatant, obvious statement for Ren to know that he had been reading his mind. He had been doing the same, at least to the best of his ability. Some things were easier to sense, and the fact that the underboss generally didn't sense anything meant that the other couldn't be too upset or angry at him. Which generally made things a little easier, although one could never tell.
"I had assumed that that was implied in my statement, seeing as how feeding is what all Vampires do when they go crazy with bloodlust. But yes, the Vampire did take a considerable amount of my blood before I managed to escape. I have the scar, if you wish to see it."
He said nonchalantly, making no movement to pull away his scarf unless he was ordered to. Really, it wasn't like he truly disliked TOP himself. But he was the Leader of the Fallen, the one who held his leash, even if there were others actually controlling him with invisible puppet strings.
Ren quirked an eyebrow as there was a sudden absence of darkness in TOP's mind, and based on the topic... was he really praying for the deceased soul? So the Boss was another one of those laden with regret. It was understandable, and Ren would probably feel the same type of emotions if he was in any situation other than his own.
"How things are done? How would I know? Underboss or not, the title is just a mask for what I really am. Have you forgotten? Or did you just never really know at all? I'm simply a cursed weapon from Hell. Puppets aren't supposed to care, or think, or feel anything for themselves. We just follow orders and return to nothingness. I'm not a threat to you, Boss. Does that answer any of your questions? What I think doesn't matter. It's what /you/ think about /me/ that really does in this situation, wouldn't you say? So tell me. What do you think of me?"
He asked casually, leaning back in his chair and tilting his head almost curiously. The other could block him out of his head if Ren actually tried to probe for the answers he was seeking, so it would be best to just say it out front.
T.O.P 11 years ago
The Fallen simply sat there, relaxing back on his chair as the boy in front of him recalled his tale... A story that wasn't much too different from what he had already nit-picked out from his Underboss's mind. Except for one detail... A detail that the boy decided not to actually say to him. It wasn't often when the two of them would actually speak to one another, mostly of the fact that Seunghyun did have an entire police district to run unlike Ren, a supposed "high schooler".
A elegant eyebrow was raised as he continued to fix those nearly black orbs on the Fallen in front of him. The look on his face was one of thoughtful curiosity even if he knew exactly what was going on... Even though Seunghyun wasn't too fond of snooping around in people's mind, some things better off not knowing, at least he was glad that he didn't have to do any more for Ren. "It wasn't because of the Vampire Leader feeding on you that also added to the pain?" he inquired lightly as if it was just a passing matter.
As for Ren's disrespectful tone towards Seunghyun, the Leader hardly cared about such... Even being a sticker for manners and such didn't seem to pass on to his second-in-command, leading the Fallen to simply wave it off. As long as Ren did follow his orders, there would be no issues between them. He liked to think of his hierarchy was more... Justifiable than the other gangs'. But still, he had to play towards the male a bit...
"But pity. One of our ranks should have never been admitted into those leeches' domains..." Seunghyun sighed quietly, mind instinctively before he could really stop himself sending a mental prayer for that soul. Eyes closed for a brief moment, they flashed open again to search the male's in front of him. "Tell me, Ren. What do you think of how things are being run around here?" a total topic switch to something seeming random... But he had good reason to ask such a question when his second-in-command had just more or less "complained" about the lack of surveillance... And to some degree, Seunghyun had to agree that he SHOULD have kept a closer eye on him. Personally himself, seeing how most of the other Fallen had some sort of innate fear for Ren and his shadowy powers... Too similar to Demons...
Ren 11 years ago
Ren continued to return his gaze without flinching, just staring. There wasn't much his eyes could betray anyway, especially when he was talking to the Boss of the Fallen. Obviously he would be powerful at mind reading, which left the only way to keep something hidden being to not think about it. Clearly, that was much easier said than done. Which left him the only option of being truthful around his leader. Truthful, albeit uncaring.
When he was commanded to shut the door, Ren refused to budge an inch, letting out a halfhearted sigh after realizing that they truly were not going to get anywhere until TOP's order was obeyed. With a flick of his wrist, the door shut with a loud bang, the shadows that had pushed it fading back into their original niche in reality. He expected no surprise from the Don. If his boss hadn't figured out his powers of shadow yet, then their relationship was the saddest one in Fallen history. After all, he knew that the other controlled water, and he had rarely even seen the power in action at all.
"Long story short, I got caught on that assignment to visit the Fallen admitted into the Vampire's hospital on an emergency. They've been reduced to ashes, now, by the way. Through a series of events the room ended up filled with blood and the Vampire Boss kind of lost it. I managed to get away rather quickly but that wreaks havoc on the balance of light and dark in my system and thus I was in agonizing, paralyzing pain for the past few weeks. Still, you would think that the Boss of all people would know that about his second in command, huh."
It came out more as a mocking statement than a challenge, since Ren had absolutely no desire to become number one. But he could show a whole lot of attitude as long as he didn't resort to violence, since the people who mattered knew that he was irreplaceable for now. A weapon centuries in the making would not get fired because of a few attitude problems, and he was fully taking advantage of that. The Fallen supposed it wasn't fair to his Boss to be like that, since his resentment wasn't really on a personal level, but he didn't care. He rarely cared about anything, to be exact.

Working on several homicidal cases popping up occasionally in his work stack, Seunghyun couldn't help but feel more and more irritated as he continued... Irritated at the fact that he didn't even have to really wonder about what sort of people were involved with these "deaths". Withdrawal of blood, pale? It HAD to be the work of several newly turned vampires. But woe to him as the police, it wasn't like the government was going to acknowledge the fact that there were supernatural creatures lurking around the city, the country, the world. What would they say to that?
Another bother on his mind too... The Underboss had been missing for... Several weeks. One did not just disappear for several weeks without a legitimate reason, especially when they were in such a crucial position too. In any other case, Seunghyun would have just booted them out of the position without even a protest, but... This position was one that he had to be more careful about. Not to mention the fact that he was also somewhat curious as to WHY the male had been missing... Didn't help that they weren't really "buddies" sort of terms.
The sudden noise of the door flying open had no outwardly effect on Seunghyun as he didn't even raise his eyes up to greet the boy who had just barged in. The only sign that he noticed the Fallen's presence was the momentary pause of his hand before it continued, signing off the paper. Though at the brash question that was presented to him, that was when the Fallen finally placed the pen down and lifted his eyes up, dark orbs staring intently at the slouched in the chair in front of him.
"Close the door first," Seunghyun commanded in a cool yet firm tone, piercing gaze following the boy's every move. It was only when that was done did he ask, "What is your excuse for being gone for several weeks?" as if he was simply inquiring about the weather...
Ren 11 years ago
Ren walked down the hall, ignoring the looks he had gotten from the people around him from both humans and Fallen alike. They were well warranted, and there wasn't exactly anything he could do about it. After all, disappearing for a few weeks on end with a rumored "deadly illness" and suddenly returning seemingly recovered was not exactly the usual. Sure, he was a little paler than normal if that was even possible, but normally it took at least a few months to recover from said diseases. What was he supposed to tell them? The truth? The fact that the agonizing, hellish pain that had racked his body for what seemed like forever was caused by a Vampire his blood? Humans wouldn't believe it; Fallen would reject him.
But now he was being called to the Boss's office, probably to give his report on what really happened seeing as how today was the first time he could coherently speak. The visit wasn't to give him a lollipop and a get well card, that was for sure. It made him wonder, though. Despite the closeness of their ranks, he and the Fallen's leader rarely talked at all, even for business purposes. He supposed that was mainly his fault, not that he had any regrets... or even cared.
Barging into the room the way that good, docile weapons most certainly should /not/, Ren sat down in the chair, staring at the man from beneath his hat pulled low over his eyes, and the scarf covering most of his face. Fallen or not, he still had an image to maintain outside of the job, as a normal everyday highschool student, and it would be chaos if one of his classmates saw him like this. He could hardly care about what happened to them but that would be rather messy and /they/ might punish him again.
"What do you want?"
He asked in a bored tone, for indeed, he was bored. Stuff like this was purely bothersome.
