For fear of costing her mother's & her stepfather's life if she said no, Azusa agreed.
She then was sold to a Geisha house, where she learned singing, dancing & other facets of entertainment. Through hard work & perseverance she was able to reach the level of Geisha by her late teens. And this is the Azusa you see today: a mask of ladylike softness, belying a softer heart & an almost child like nature that is eager to please, mixed with a woman's sensuality.
