advice on opening an rp

I only ever have like two experiences in opening an RP, and so far this is what I can give you. 

For those of you who have never opened an RP before and is planning on doing one, especially if that RP is an AU, I hope this will come in handy and be helpful to you. 

Now, let’s get right into it!

Co-Admins 

So, I learned that no matter how capable you think you are, you’ll still need help. There are many people in an RP and to monitor everyone while also enjoying yourself is difficult when you’re overloaded with admin work. So here's the most important advice: get a co-admin. 

A co-admin exists to help alleviate some of that work load from your shoulders. The task to check applications, monitor the chatrooms, making sure everyone is keeping active, etc; it’s a lot when you actually do it. I thought I’ll be able to handle it all but heh, guess what? 

So yes, you definitely need a co-admin above all else! Of course, be sure to find the correct admin who is responsible and not just joining the team to be abusive of their power. Maybe that’s one extra job for you as the main admin to make sure the co-admins aren’t being es but otherwise, it should be smooth sailing afterwards!

Events 

Another thing you need to keep in mind before opening an RP is to prepare events in advance. This will help you to keep activity going in an RP. I recommend readying the announcement in a drafted blog post or somewhere so after a week of the opening, if the RP is still alive and doing very well, you can launch the first event. This will probably keep people to stay and be invested in your RP, I think. 

I didn’t start any events in the two times I opened my RPs, which was sad. Though I’m planning on making sure I have events up my sleeves the next time I open an RP! I think you should do that too, in advance to keep your RP active and going.

Teasers 

Finally, have lots and lots of teasers. For me, my teasers are just information on the RP I plan on opening. There are of course other ways to post your teasers but anyway, you’ll need lots of these to keep the hype up and have people interested and keeping a look out. 

I feel that some RPs didn’t set off as nicely because they lack the teasers to keep the audience entertained. I mean, it’s okay if you don’t want to go through the trouble of posting teasers every day and just want a soft launched RP! But I think if you really want people to join your RP or at least anticipate what you’re about to release, lotsof teasers will keep them on the edge of their seats.

I don’t want to make this too long so that’s all of it. These are also all that I can think about for now. I still need to do assignments so I can’t stay for too long oops 8’D
