The Omegaverse is large. And it differs from author to author and from rp creator to creator. It leaves open so many possibilities and can be quiet inspiring. At least to me. Now most people only know three types of secondary genders or ranks. Those being alpha, beta and omega. Since I consider this to be quiet sad, and a few people have asked me about possible other ranks that might exist, I have decided to dump mz knowledge and my version on those ranks on here. Maybe this will interest some, help others or invites you to discuss things further with me :)
alphas (A)
alphas are typically the largest and physically strongest out of all the dynamics. They usually make up around 30 percent of the general population. Alphas do not poses ovaries or an uterus and therefore cannot be impregnated. They tend to be aggressive, territorial and protective over what they consider to be theirs. They can have many things to them to differentiate them from the other ranks raging from characteristics to psychological or physical attributes. The most common trait shown in them is the knot at the base of an alphas . The knot is supposedly a bundle of muscles and nerves that expands once the alpha is close to an , locking him inside an omega. It's suggested that the knot, helps them to ensure their partner will end up pregnant. How long an alpha stays knotted can vary from minutes to hours. Generally alphas have a strong musky scent. Sometimes if an alpha shows strong emotions the scent becomes thicker and richer and can even induce a heat within an omega or at least arouse them greatly. On the other hand, the scent of a omega in heat can also set them off into a rut.
Generally a healthy alpha has a rut ranging from once a month to two times a year. During this period of time they become highly hormone-driven and have a high drive to bite,claim, , etc. basically they become more primal in their behavior. If the alpha has a pack, they typically spend this time with them, often resulting in loads of messy group .
betas (β)
In most verses the beta makes up the largest group of the worlds population, raging from 50 to 65%. In books most of the time they do not experience ruts or heats and aren't really affected by the ruts or heats of an alpha or omega. Males can not get pregnant and females not impregnate others. In most cases they are portrayed like a average human would.
in roleplays or fanfics you can often see them to have a really calming scent, though it's weaker then both an alphas or omegas as well as being able to get pregnant. They are also often times noted to have a lesser sense of smell. Instinctual pheromones of alphas or omegas do not affect them as strongly either. This helps them to be the peacemakers, since they are more stable.when it comes to siye or physical attributes they tend to be smaller than alphas but bigger then omegas.
omegas (Ω)
Omegas typically tend to make up the smallest amount of the worlds population (in books) only raging from 15 to 20%. in roleplays they often times make up the largest amount. When it comes to size and strenght they are typically below that of both alphas and betas. Usually they are described as petite, narrow shoulders, wide hips, slim and with more fat than muscular mass.
Both males and females have an uterus and ovaries and therefore can be impregnated while not being able impregnate others. Their instincts tell them to to be nurturing and caring. This makes them typically be seen as submissive.
Like alphas have ruts, omegas tend to have heats. In this time they are more fertile this in turn causing them to have a high ual need and their scent becomes more potent. The reason being so that the omega can attract an alpha or suitable mate to knot them easier. During this period of time they most often are described to have a slight fever, labored breathing, secretion of high amounts of slick, etc. An omegas heat can be triggered by the scent of an alpha.
SOooo and this is where gets complicated and things truly vary from book to book and fanfic to fanfic and rp to rp. If it's even offered. So I am giving you the infos that make most sense to me.
Deltas (Δ)
They are more submissive Betas. Their scent is really weak and not nearly as calmin as that of an beta. Instead they have a stronger nose and keener senses, such as being able smell when an alpha or omega is entering their rut/heat. They are also said to be very emphatic and true peace/makers, which is why in packs they most often are the right hand man/woman.
Gammas (Γ)
are socially more submissive alphas. They are not as stubborn or territorial or emotion driven as their counterparts. They are the more gentle and caring, especially to members of their packs or omegas. This of course doesn't mean a sweet alpha is automatically a gamma or a more aggressive gamma is an alpha. Neither are gammas simple pushovers. Gammas usually refrain from fighting and other shows of dominance.
Just like their counterparts thez do posses a knot at the base of their and regularly experience a rut, though not quiet as strong or long as a normal alpha.
sigmas (Σ)
are socially dominant omegas that are just as aggressive as alphas and do not ever hesitate to challenge one for dominance or even outright fight them. As children alphas and sigmas tend to always get in fights and rarely get along. Of course, since sigmas are biologically omegas they are smaller and weaker than an alpha and also leaves them with an uterus and ovaries. Thez go into heat just as often as their counterparts but not have as much of a need to get mated during it. Sigmas do also not feel the need to nest outside of pregnancy (some not even feeling it during that) and usually make fun of their omega friends for their nesting habits.
Epsilon's (Ε)
Apparently they only occur with an alpha and beta parent. Some posses more alpha traits while others are more like betas. They share the alphas s but have the weaker, calming scent of an beta. They do not have fights for dominance, but rather are very cunning and sly. During their rut or heat depending if they are more alpha or beta, they have an immense high need to breed with someone. They often become more dominant and overprotective of their chosen partner. Their rut or heat, while not occurring as often, is more extreme and they will go almost feral in their need to find a partner to mate. If not finding a partner this will cause them extreme emotional and physical distress.
Iotas (I)
they occur when a beta and omega reproduce. They share the heat,scent and s with an omega but otherwise resemble more a beta. Though they do not care much for packs or hierarchies. this why they have to be tricked into submission and it's most common to see them mated with epsilon's, if they even mate at all.
they are rarely seen so I really don't know what else to tell you <.<
Thetas (Θ)
they are quiet dangerous as they supposedly posses a rare genetic mutation that stems from a mutated beta gene that causes their calming scent to actually knock people out. This is why thetas are forced to take medication that helps them block out their scent but also represses their heats or ruts. But also makes it hard for them to find a possible mate as people tend to be suspicious of people without scent.
