e l y s i a n - the tale

This is our story. A story full of fear and doubts, of confusing changes and horrible surprises, of lies, disappointment. But also a story filled with love, little wonders, family and friendships. I'm short: a story about the biggest lie that forever shattered our world and made us change our beliefs.

But let's start at the beginning. Let's start with the "only truth" we believed to know. The truth our teachers and government never grew tiered of telling us.                              It started after ww 2. After the war the world had changed. Fear ruled the people. Fear of hunger, of pain and oppression. But all of that was nothing in comparison of the all consuming fear of another war. A third war that would end humanity like a roaring storm. The atomic threat almost graspable. Everyone yearned for a solution, an escape to a save future.

it was then a renowned group of scientists came forward with a momentous idea: they wanted to create a place, a kingdom where humans could live together in peace and harmony. A place, where -instead of robbing the earth of all its riches and continued abuse - people could live in unison with nature. The idea grew and evolved over many years, until the scientists with the help of some rich investors were able to come forward and start make it come true. Of course they didn't want the broad public to know about their almost insane project - most likely because they didn't want to cause a hysteria, or actually knew how wrong their project actually was. Maybe they feared the consequences if they were to be found out or maybe they truly were insane people without any morality left in them. 
the only ones in the known was a secret organization consisting of only the richest of people with similar views as the scientists. They became the mayor players, pulling the strings in the background and paying billions of dollars for the success of the project.
Like that they were able to start building the "new worl" in 1960. A region, as large as Austria, somewhere in the middle of nowhere between Europe and Asia was locked off. Dozens of Ingenieurs, architects along with hundreds of workers started the work of building a large dome of glass. The construction of the dome, as well as all the cities and villages within took a good twenty years. No question, it took a lot of patience. One that payed out, at least for a small group of people. All of the people that helped build or sponsor the project were allowed to now life inside along with their family. 
of course, they had all been prepared beforehand. Because the plan of the scientists didn't stop with just the building of the "new world". They also researched for a way to mix and change the dna of all the candidates that would move into their world. Turning them into better beings, as they said -hybrids. Humans with various animalistic traits. Some physical others psychological. 
after various political game plays and having adapted to the animalistic changes, it was then in the year 1990 decided to rule the "new world" in form of a monarchy and call it Elysian. 
only a few years later the Third World War broke out. The whole planet was exposed to radiation, that made it impossible to inhabit the rest of the world. The only life, the only humans that supposedly survived, where those of Elysian. 
because of this Elysian from now on stood for freedom and savety. It was the perfect habitat. There was no criminality or poverty. Every citizen could live a peaceful life.
Elysian was perfect.
At least that's what we thought...
