Typists do not have to watch these shows to join or understand the roleplay's culture. The inspiration is mainly taken from certain elements in the show that pertains to supernaturals but we will be providing definitions and detailed explanations on our species pages for your understanding and clarity. With that said, the roleplay's storyline will only be inspired by the shows but will not follow the shows' plots and storyline.
― ⊱ ROLEPLAY INTENTION ⊰ ― If you are looking for a place to relocate your fully developed muse, Insidious is not the roleplay suitable for them. We aim for storytelling that is unique to our universe's set up and due to the supernatural concept of our roleplay, we wish to prevent muses that are already too powerful, to begin with. The Black Market system will level all the species on the playing field so no species is inferior to another and will keep things fair.

Insidious: The Prologue
― ⊱ THE LORE ⊰ ― Since 2010, mysterious disappearances and murders began to take place all around the world. These incidents were not only horrifying but unexplainable to anyone who was unfortunate enough to witness it. Not a single case could unfold the truth but they all had one thing in common: the victims of these incidents all happened to be supernaturals. Gradually, several supernatural species began to get wiped off the face of the earth; species such as necromancers, elves, and even magical animals went extinct. Not only were they disappearing into thin air, but the remaining species were beginning to experience weakening and, eventually, the disappearance of their powers with time. Ultimately, people caught on that someone or something was passing judgment on supernatural beings and slowly demolishing every species in existence.
Although the force responsible for these acts remained a mystery, its agenda became alarmingly clear day by day. It’s the year 2021 now and only six species remain: vampires, werewolves, witches, pixies, demons, and water spirits but the horrendous stories have instilled profound fear in these remaining individuals. They know they’re next, that they won’t be dismissed, nor forgotten. By now, solace is a concept foreign to them but they’ve managed to escape to New Orleans, the birthplace of all Magic, where it all began. It is the only place known to protect the supernaturals from this unknown evil force and the only city on earth that allows them to retain their supernatural abilities as long as they remain within the city. Though they’re not entirely free from all worries inside the city either.
Residing in New Orleans is daunting and comes with its own fret. The remaining supernatural species are forced to fight for their kind as the last bit of the magic remaining in New Orleans can only be extended to one kind. Years of supernaturals becoming a mere myth humans told their children meant a prevalent decrease in what these supernaturals all had in common: magic. The safety net New Orleans offers is only temporary. The city itself is a ticking time bomb, for its magical barrier and remaining power will vanish one day. Centuries ago, by some miracle, these different species had agreed to coexist in peace. But nothing remains the same forever. The chapter turns to a new page and everything they had built is erased. Whether these vampires, werewolves, witches, pixies, and demons agree to the fight or not, it must take place if they wish to go down in history as the last remaining species. The humans residing in New Orleans are about to witness events they’ve never seen before in their life. Will it be a good show they live to tell? Or will their own downfall become another piece of the supernaturals’ story? Only time will tell.

⊱ The First Snow ⊰ ― After a young, inexperienced witch’s spell goes astray, New Orleans is covered with snow for a week. The white frost transforms the city into a Winter Wonderland, where the citizens briefly have the opportunity to craft snowmen and have snowball fights. The lake freezes over and the residents are granted the chance to ice skate. Like their friends in the North, they too will have to worry about slipping on the slick sidewalks and cleaning snow off their vehicles. Hopefully, many can adapt and don’t complain to the pixie queen, causing some innocent sky pixie to get scolded.
⊱ The Winter Gala ⊰ ― Though the Clan de Elysee’s Winter Gala is usually a private affair, after the terrifying illness that plagued the city, they have graciously opened the event to all as a celebration. However, even in a moment of kindness, some witches don’t shirk the opportunity to indicate to the other supernaturals that this city belongs to them as they have resided in the city longest, matched only by the Eclipse Pack Werewolves. Due to a strategic push by some of the coven members, the gala will take place at one of the grand estates that have been owned by the coven for generations. Luminaries and ornate trees welcome well-dressed guests to the castle-like manor. There there are encouraged to drink the best wine and cocktail, enjoy the brilliant menu, unwrap their gifts, and dance for a night to remember.
⊱ Saint Nick ⊰ ― It’s rumored that Saint Nicholas was a witch who came to be known for his generous gifts to the poor, especially to impoverished children. In the spirit of giving and remembering such an iconic witch, the witches have enchanted all the gifts at the gala to contain something specifically curated for the receiver when they unwrap the present.
⊱ Swan Lake ⊰ ― Like for the Clan de Elysee, it’s tradition for many to attend the ballet during this season. This year, the theatre is bringing back a classic, Swan Lake.
⊱ The Gift of Lights ⊰ ― While the city is adorned with lights, the botanical gardens have a grand display that showcases everyone’s favorite scenes from various fairy tales for an unforgettable experience.

Insidious is a literate, original character, plot, and story driven roleplay. If you’re not fond of muse development and literacy, our community may not be the perfect fit for you.
― ⊱ RULE two ⊰ ―
Our themes contain mature content, therefore typist and faceclaim must be 19+ in international age to be considered an entry. With that said, our roleplay is rated mature for its dark themes but we are not a roleplay. We pride ourselves in our extensive lores and aim to focus on character development.
― ⊱ RULE three ⊰ ―
Faceclaims can be of Asian descent or internationals, as long as they are 19+ internationally and do not have concerning allegations made that have been confirmed by their representative agency, law, or mass media. Instagram models and ulzzangs will be accepted under the same circumstances. You must be able to provide a reliable source disclosing their age if they aren’t very known publicly.

We will not be allowing faceclaims that are deceased, married, or have stated they do not wish to be roleplayed. We will not be accepting YouTubers, adult content creators, online personalities, gamers, or Twitch streamers. The following are prohibited: godmodding, meta-gaming, bubble talking/rping, OOC drama, bullying members, clique behavior, bad mouthing others of their writing/muse creation, not respecting personal boundaries (triggers for topics, kinks, plot limitations), facechasing, shipchasing, soft blocking (purposely skipping emojis, avoiding interacting with their posts, making your profile not visible to them), and pressuring others to reply. We highly discourage poking unless the mun has stated they are okay with it.
As a roleplay consisting of muses with supernatural abilities, it is crucial for you to not god mod at any time. Please communicate with the typist for plots involving supernatural powers and practice consent. You are only allowed to report god modding incidents if they happen to you. You can not report for others if they do not involve you. If you are wondering as to why this is, it is answered on our FAQ page.
We will only accept 19+ muns and therefore we will expect you to behave like an adult and communicate your concerns with either the typist and/or admin. If you are suspected or found to be involved in any of these mentioned, you will be given a strike. Additionally, any formal warning from the admins will be considered a strike. A recurrence will immediately get you removed permanently and blacklisted.
It is important to note the only exception to this strike system does not include plagiarism. As a roleplay promoting literacy, we consider plagiarism in any shape or form a very serious offense and it will result in instant removal and blacklist. Please be prepared to approach the admin with evidence if you suspect your work is being plagiarized.
In addition, we ask you not speak of other roleplays or typists that are not in Insidious. Please also keep your personal issues with muns to yourself and do not involve others.
If you find yourself experiencing the following issues mentioned, do not hesitate to reach out to the admin base account right away. In doing so, please allow us 48 hours to assess the situation thoroughly. We will do our best to assist you in the best way possible and get back to you shortly once we are able to.
Bottom line: Please be mature and extend the courtesy of being civil and considerate at all times. We will not entertain anyone or any situation that fails to follow this rule.
We reserve the right to remove a member at any time if they are reported to be causing discomfort multiple times for several members in the community. We reserve the right to remove a member at any time if we feel they are a threat to our community. We reserve the right to decline applicants who apply with accounts that have been blacklisted in several roleplays for severe reasons such as bullying and plagiarism. Other reasons will be overlooked and the application will be considered but we do not want to risk welcoming individuals who have been repeatedly reported to be responsible for these two reasons.

The premise of the roleplay takes place in New Orleans. The primary language for communication is English. We will operate in the New Orleans timezone (GMT -5) as well so please be mindful of this when you are making time sensitive IC posts.
― ⊱ RULE twelve ⊰ ―
Character change and faceclaim change are unlimited and allowed with a gap of two weeks between each. Please do not abuse this right. In order to ensure you are simply not hopping from faceclaim to faceclaim or dropping muse after muse without giving them a fair try, we will ask you to either present your ideas for your new muse or provide a reason to wanting a faceclaim change. We will not require this for everyone who requests a FC or CC; this rule is only applied to those who constantly ask for a change.
Species change is also unlimited (done IC plot wise or OOC) and allowed with a gap of three weeks between each. You must ask the admin for permission before making the species change. If you are doing it with an IC approach as in utilizing another muse or plot to create the change, you must ask the admin prior to or during the thread. If you are changing OOC for a new muse, you can simply ask when you decide to make the change.
― ⊱ RULE thirteen ⊰ ―
Move-in couples are welcome; please make sure to tell us in the notes section of our application. If you are a move-in couple, we will expect you to refrain from staying within your partner’s bubble.
Otherwise, dating ban lasts for one month, although pre-established relationships are allowed and welcome.
Marriage is allowed after five months. Pregnancy is allowed but only accordingly to the species and rules defining each. More information will be disclosed in the species information pages.
Children are allowed for plot or muse development purposes but will be limited to just that. They can not have actual faceclaims nor accounts.
Romantic relationships, ual relationships, and marriage are allowed with different species.
― ⊱ RULE fourteen ⊰ ―
Hiatus will be given for three weeks. We do not give semi-hiatuses. If you need a hiatus, please DM the Insidious base account on Mewe with the date you plan to start your hiatus along the day you will return. If you are permitted one, you will be exempt from all activity requirements. Extensions will only be given if you provide a reasonable explanation to the admin; please try to ask before your deadline is up. If you don’t ask before the deadline, the request for a continued hiatus will not be considered.
If you ask for multiple within the same period, we will ask you to leave the roleplay and reconsider joining once you become more available OOC. This is to prevent character hogging. If you wish to rejoin again and your faceclaim is still available, you may rejoin with the same account and you can proceed where you left off.
― ⊱ RULE fifteen ⊰ ―
Two accounts are allowed per typist. The faceclaim must not be from the same group and the muse must be from a different species from your first. For example, if your first faceclaim is Min Yoongi from BTS and he’s a vampire, your second muse can not be vampire Jeon Jungkook. You will qualify for a second once you’ve been in the roleplay for three weeks and have 10 active threads on your first account. We will only permit a second if we have seen consistent activity from you on your first account.
We reserve the right to revoke your qualification for a second muse if we find you are failing to balance activity between both accounts. We expect you to maintain your activity and threads on your first account once you are able to acquire a second.
― ⊱ RULE sixteen ⊰ ―
If you plan to leave the roleplay, please message the admin account and allow 24 hours for a response before deleting your account. Failure to do so will result in blacklisting.
If you leave but decide to come back, you must wait for a week from the time you left. You may rejoin with the same account if your faceclaim is still available by the time you can rejoin.
You will need to have a minimum of four public threads with different people by the time you hit two months after your acceptance date. If you happen to only meet the basic requirement, your four threads can not only be with typists you are friends with OOC. You are not required to reach out to update us; we will be checking for completion via your public thread tracker which is required (read: rule eighteen above). Please remember that we are a literate and public roleplay, therefore, we will expect you to make an effort in reaching out to members and writing with them.

NSFW content is permitted in the roleplay with proper trigger warnings used. Please make sure to label sensitive topics before sharing your content. Failure to correctly label your post will result in immediate removal of your post without a warning and we will send you a reminder in private to be more cautious.

You are required to post a tracker of your plots/threads somewhere on your profile. It does not matter what you utilize to post your tracker whether it is a featured post or a link to an alternative source you use. We require this to ensure no bubble rping is occurring in the roleplay and to make sure members are making an effort to reach out to new members despite our establishment having been open for a while. Admins do not have access to private threads nor private DMs, therefore, a public tracker is helpful for us to facilitate our community guidelines.
Please always keep in mind people have different triggers and limits so what may appear normal to you may not be for others so please try to be considerate when it comes to these differences.

ACTIVITY EXPECTATIONS
within the roleplay
― ⊱ RULE ONE ⊰ ―
Once you are accepted into the roleplay, you have 48 hours to post a self-para in the introductions group, any length of your choice, any writing style/POV of your choice. However, you can not use you/your, 2nd POV; we believe this is a breach of IC and OOC.
― ⊱ RULE two ⊰ ―
Activity will be measured through threads, self paras, or SNS posts once a week. You may reply to threads (one literacy reply is enough), post a self-para on your wall, or post an IC SNS update for your muse. Not all options are mandatory and you can choose one based on your personal preference. However, you are not allowed to choose the SNS post option for more than 3 times in a row as that is unfair and will be considered character hogging if you are unable to provide a single thread in nearly a month. Please remember we are a literate roleplay.
Every Monday, an activity check will be posted on the Insidious Management account’s wall and as the roleplay progresses into the week, you will comment your preferred method for that week. You do not have to comment right after the post is made by the admin. The post will be available throughout the entire week so once you complete your chosen method of activity, you can easily refer back to the account and comment.
Anything else such as OOC updates, emoji reacting, text messaging, or DP changes will not be considered as activity. The activity check will remain open until Sunday of the same week so you have the entire week to comment.
Failure to post your preference for the week will result in a warning which will last for 24 hours before you are removed. However, if you respond within those 24 hours to acknowledge the warning, that warning will be considered a strike. You will be allowed to remain in the roleplay but we will keep that warning on record to ensure you are not failing activity checks every single week/every other week. If you are, that tells us you are not respecting our system and it is also unfair to other members who follow the procedure.
Once you reach two strikes in the same month, you will be asked to leave the roleplay. It is unfair if one is continuously getting by in the roleplay by simply acknowledging admins' formal warnings rather than respecting our provided system. If you are asked to leave, you will have to wait a period of one month before joining again if you wish to return to the roleplay. The password for the application form is to tell us why you chose the sub-species you did for your muse.

You must post your completed bio within two weeks following your acceptance. Extensions will only be given if you are able to provide us active threads you currently have.

Your Asianfanfics account must be three months old. Please ensure your settings allow the admin to confirm the date. You’re welcome to PM our base account if your account is failing to meet this standard and we may consider other forms of contact such as Tumblr.
― ⊱ RULE two ⊰ ―
If you’d like to reserve first, please message us the name of your desired faceclaim, their group/occupation, your chosen species, along with their sub-species. You may include their occupation if you wish to claim available positions in our city locations or if you’d like to claim a character skeleton/wanted connection.
Example: “Hi, I’d like to reserve Min Yoongi from BTS as a vampire, pure-blood.”
Please note your reservation will only be considered accepted once you receive a reply back from us. The reservation and application system are on a first come first serve basis.

To apply, make sure to read through all our pages before filling out the application form. Link can be found here.
Once you have submitted it, proceed to message us privately in the format “Faceclaim name of occupation/group has applied.” If you do not send us a message, we will not deem your application valid.

Once you are accepted, you will be given links to our admin accounts. You have 24 hours to add them both.
― ⊱ RULE five ⊰ ―
When creating your Mewe account, please make sure your muse’s name is in English with no special font or emoji. In addition, “New Orleans” must be added to the city section of your profile so typists know you are a part of the roleplay.
― ⊱ RULE six ⊰ ―
Ensure your account is completely clean of any posts. If you are recycling an existing account, you must delete everything prior to acceptance. You should not have anyone added prior to our acceptance either.
Please be patient when awaiting friend request acceptance on Mewe. We create the graphics ourselves for each member and ensure they are each made with care and consideration. Therefore, it may take us up to 48 hours as we admins also happen to be adults with lives outside of running this establishment. Your patience and understanding will be appreciated. We suggest you begin to work on your introductory post and/or bio if you’d like to get a head start. We’re very excited to have you join us; see you soon!
