npc world ; a roleplay in which every character is an npc in a fantasy video game world, but does not realize it. characters range from shop owners, bandits, bakery girls, knights, royalty, boss monsters, dragons, clergy members, normal civilians, etc. etc. they go about their day to day lives, sometimes interrupted by "player characters" and dealing with the messes they create (but "player characters" are NOT playable characters in the roleplay, ie. when you join the roleplay you can ONLY join as an npc of the video game world), but mostly just live the same way they always do.
ib-inspired au (trapped museum) ; there is an urban legend that the [NAME HERE] art exhibit is haunted. wherever it moves from museum to museum, strange occurrences have taken place. flickering lights, falling objects, patrons receiving minor injuries - there was even a time when a museum employee fell from a two story window. she claimed to have been pushed, but there was no one in same room as her when the incident happened. other than these though, the "curse of [NAME HERE]'s artwork" has remained as just that, an urban legend, and one that not many people truly believe in. what people don't realize, until they've been into the alternate world/dimension of this artist, is that the "curse" is very much real, and it does not plan on letting you escape once you're in its grasp. *inspired by the rpg maker horror game ib, in which a young girl gets trapped in an alternate, horrifying version of a museum gallery, and must escape without being killed by the artwork that comes to life. **basically, people get trapped in an essentially haunted alternate dimension of a museum and must try to escape. there are two playable character types, HUMAN PRISONER and LIVING ARTWORK, so you can either be a trapped human, or a living artwork that lives within the alternate dimension.
experiments ; far into the future and hidden deep within a top secret facility, is a place where ethics only serve to get in the way of progress. a small branch of the totalitarian government that seeks to experiment beyond the normal scope of weapons, energy and cyberspace. this is where animals and plants, and recently, humans, have been the subject of many a tests, procedures, invasive surgeries, mutations, experiments and more. kept behind thick iron walls and reinforced glass, these experiments are closely monitored, and eventually discarded if the "scientists" in charge find no use for them. some experiments involve splicing human and animal dna to create super soldiers, others involve implanting cybernetic parts into the human brain, or even going so far as to lopping off someone's limbs after experimenting with regrowth factors to see if they'll grow back. as of now, the government is in charge, and those behind bars are expected to lay down and take it. but perhaps soon, there will be a change in the status quo.
reverse isekai ; there are millions of universes in existense simultaenously. most of them never interact with each other, and those who live in these universes are generally unaware that there are other universes to mirror and contrast their own. however, in a strange turn of events, people and creatures from other universes are being plucked by an invisible hand and dropped into our universe in bulk. powerful individuals, from fantasy worlds and dimensions straight out of science fiction stories, are waking up in our world as normal, unpowered humans. as of now there is no way for them to return to their original universe, as the entrance ticket to hop universes is an untimely death. these transmigrators can only adapt to their new world and new found powerlessness, attempting to navigate their new lives. some of them find each other, others wonder if they are completely alone in this journey. no matter what, all of them are just trying to survive.
