1.) Cato's line of work is deeply rooted in his own darker obsessions. Fascinated by the dark arts but wise enough not to meddle /too/ much, the man spent his teenhood plucking artifacts from the well-guarded manors of the most sinister dark witches and wizards of the times. Yet all times he attempted, Lovecraft swept the vaults and remained rich, unscathed, and surprisingly altruistic. Being an animagi of the feline persuasion, Cato's dedicated relationship with the magical cat kingdom contributed to an outpour of donations to funds for Kneazles, Zouwus, Matagots, Chimaeras and the Wampus; under the pseudonym 'Nilrem Eryas.' The only thing that stopped him was the Great heist of Gringott's Bank. Captured by British Aurors, Cato had the offer of Azkaban or a new job as none other than an undercover Auror. Obviously, he put his cat burglar cowl into retirement and now globe-trots the wizarding world under the command of the British Ministry.

2. Cato Lovecraft's American identity serves his job well, as no one suspects a graduate of House Wampus of Ilvermorny School to be a British Auror, let alone an undercover. He spends a majority of his time rooting out the darkness and giving it the old American boot to Azkaban. He's sneaky, conniving and manipulative, but carries a sense of nobility and warmth that breeds trust within the individuals he snakes out. That's why he's survived this long as one of the more 'expendable' members of the Ministry - he was a criminal after all. Now that the leash has been loosened under serving over a decade of his time to the Ministry, Lovecraft's been able to develop his interests once more. As a side gig the wizard is an art trader between the affluent wizarding families, which can sometimes blur the line of legality as many affluent wizarding families are practitioners of dark magic. Cato treats this profession as both a passion and a cover; attending art luncheons and galas in the day, and traipsing through cursed alleyways and ominous thresholds at night.

Connection 1: due to her background of smuggling potions and being an apprentice, she has to have a kindling affinity for drawing people in and persuading them with her powers, a lot of charm and experience goes into being able to convince others into the dark side of magic and Katerina has been doing a good job at that or remotely trying to.

2. Katerina tends to teach others about the dark arts, dark magic and influences them into being tainted to become a dark wizard such as her father. She wants others to see that the light isn't everything and there's so much more that can be done if you're in the dark arts. It also aids her in her assassination skills, of getting under people's skin and once the rage of fury overtakes her, she won't transform fully into a harpy creature— but it aids her powers in the weapons she used (the sai) to get her job done. Rage and fury enhances her skills at getting the job done and getting rid of her targets.


Both connections are probably similar, however, veelas are the type to charm and seduce others and possessing this trait can definitely help her with potion smuggling and assist her slytherin background to being one of the dark witches in training.

Sirona has always had a connection with animals, and had since her younger years wanted to work alongside magical and non-magical creatures of all kind. It was mainly due to the need of getting up close to animals that she began studying for the use of magic to turn herself into a form less worrisome to the creatures of nature. She uses this to help observe and relay information back to her colleagues, as she is better up close with animals than she is with papers and academic writing.

Connection 2:
Being both a clutz and scatterbrained, Sirona is often one for losing items she owns. Often this goes unnoticed for a bit, and attempts at using the accio charm does not always prove successful. She had however found out that her red fox form's superior nose is great at finding back items she's lost. But who wouldn't bat an eye at a red fox suddenly scurrying through a high rise?

nadine is a meliflua, an infamous family of powerful wizards that consist mostly of metamorphmagi, and so she gained her curious ability through heredity. though she is unaware of her true ancestry after being adopted by the egan family. her abilities serve as one of the only hints to her true roots as no one in the egan family are metamorphmagi and the rest of the meliflua family have been imprisoned in azkaban since the battle of hogwarts.
nadine is an auror that dabbles in the occasional smuggling. being a metamorphmagi (in secret) is monumental in maintaining her side work and dabbling in illegal activities as she is able to disguise herself at will and the ministry of magic would be unaware of her ability to do so, which makes her harder to catch.
- these two connections will play an important part in exposing her ancestry not just to herself, but her supposed twin sister and other potential individuals.
