Dearest Readers,

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused due to our transition to a more exclusive, friends-only roleplay. However, fret no longer, as this will serve as an informational "megathread" or blog for those who would wish to join, aiming to bridge the gap between non-members and the cabinet without compromising our newly implemented invitation only process, as well as helping you inform your decision in joining our community. As a recap, Ilhwa is a Bridgerton-inspired literate roleplay set in the Joseon era.

Beginning with our onboarding process, there are features you will eventually familiarize yourself with. Firstly, it is an OC rp, meaning you won't be using your faceclaim's real names in the roleplay. To help you come up with a name, a clan system is set in place to have each character belong to a family (or if not, specify on the app as we have nameless characters), as well as the social class your character will belong to. The system helps you gain new connections without much strain, as our current members are eager to plot and further develop familial connections. If you plan on having a character garner a specific title in court, look no further than in political roles. Since this roleplay is set during Joseon, the structure of its social classes is implemented. It is divided into four categories, from Yangban, Jungin, Sangmin, and Cheonmin. Listed are some basic protocol, which are: 1) Favoriting is mandatory in order to have your application accepted. 2) The inactivity limit is 30 days, the same time allotted in gathering your first thread, as a result of our transition encouraging self-paced roleplaying, and you are given 14 days to work on a full profile. 3) Faceclaims must be 21+ years old, and can be aged up or down to five years, as long as the character is above 21+ as well. We accept Asian faceclaims that are not Korean as long as you have a proper rationale for their existence in Ilhwa. 4) Stray from godmodding, facechasing, shipchasing, or any action similar to the three. Although social season is canon in the roleplay as an element borrowed  from Bridgerton/Regency era, it is not an excuse to exclude others who may desire non-romantic connections. 5) In order for threads to be counted, there are two options: Have an active thread, replies within four weeks, exchange at least 300 words in total. If going the letter route, make sure each letter reply is at least 300 words.

After you have read the above, there will be a Google form linked on Ilhwamun to send a writing sample for the cabinet to vet. Your writing won't be published and will be kept under our discretion, don't worry. If you approve your sample, we will send you a friend request to help you again access to the roleplay. Consider this a preliminary check in before you comment for a reserve and send in your application.
