Back with another blog post because this is what I do to get motivated to write.
But anywho, if you guys haven't seen Hyuna's new music video 'Red' I highly suggest you go check it out because it is high up on my 2014 favorites list. If you have, then you know, that the music video is pretty y. shaking, revealing outfits, all of the amazingness that is Hyuna. And you also know that if you scroll down you are bound to see some 'fans' complaining over the 'tiness' of the video. Which I would like to call complete bull on. Sure, the video is on the y side, very on the y side, but since her first solo song, Hyuna's concept has been y. Not because she doesn't have talent, because in my opinion the girl really does have talent especially in dancing because she did all that she could to shake the little that she has, but because that's just her concept. People like y Hyuna, and so that's what the company gives us. You know what to expect from Hyuna, so why even act surprised when she makes a comeback with a y song, concept, and music video?
And I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt and consider the fact that maybe iness just isn't your thing. But that still doesn't give you, or anyone else the right to sit there and call her a , talentless, and numerous other names.
What really tends to bother me though is that it's not just Hyuna who has been hated on for her y concept - though she gets the hate a lot more than others - but Girls' Day, 9 muses, Sistar, and others. And the irony to this all, is that the same fans hating on these female artists for doing a y concept are the ones who will sit there and hyperventilate and what not as soon as their male fave is hip ing or making love to the air and . These fans will literally hate on girl groups and soloists for being y, but will pray that their bias flashes his abs during a performance. And it's so damn sad, in my opinion, to see these female fans, hating on female artists like that because female k-pop artists already get a lot of from misogynistic men in the industry - cough cough mothering shindong cough - that the last thing they need is for fellow women to be criticizing them.
I'm not saying that you need to love their y concepts, but don't ing bash them for it.
There is a huge double standard in K-Pop when it comes to things like this. Where male idols can come on stage shirtless and what not, but if a female idol is showing some skin, she gets all the in the world for it. Like CL, who came on in something like a one piece bathing suit and I think a fur coat, the fans/media criticized her heavily. But when someone like, oh I don't know, Luhan of EXO pulls up his shirt during a concert revealing his rib cage abs girls are praising the ground he walks on. And that isn't even the worst, I have seen videos of male idols practically having with the floor, and no one ever says anything, because they think it's fine, and it's y.
And I just want to drop kick anyone who thinks that way.
Because let me tell you, I don't like the cute concept on female groups, but I like it on male groups sometimes, and you don't see me going around bashing girls for doing a cute concept, because I realize that it's not in my place. And that's something a lot of k-pop fans need to realize.
They need to learn how to stay in their lane.
