"Yeah..." Lay stammers uneasily. He thought that now would be a good time for him to go as well, seeing he had places to be and people to deal with. "Later."
And with a wave, he disappears silently into the dark alleyways of the market.
In the meantime, Baekhyun shifts uneasily. There was something off in Lay's voice in his last comment, but he quickly dismisses the thought and rolls his eyes instead both at Lay's attempt at a joke, and at himself. Baekhyun's probably just paranoid- but who could really blame him? Life had taught him to always be on his toes, to never let his guard down. He casually checks the watch on his wrist, and mentally reels at the time. He hadn't realized it had gotten so late. "I don't mean to be rude, but I have to go. Something came up at work," Baekhyun lies smoothly. Well, technically, he amends, it's true. It just wasn't for the job they thought. "It was nice meeting you guys," He gets up, an apologetic smile on his face. "Lay, Chanyeol."
"As I heard." Lay nods.
"Do you work with eyeliner too, Chanyeol?" he jokes. He tries not to let his cynical personality show as he speaks to them. He decides it's best to tell them meaningless details about him. They'll think they know him, but they won't really.
Then he can leave. He had no idea why he had tried to approach Baekhyun earlier... what had he been thinking?
Baekhyun: He turns his attention back to Chanyeol. "I may have to take you up on that offer. I've been meaning to get a haircut for awhile now." If Lay was a 4 on his scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most dangerous, Chanyeol was now hovering at a solid 1. And he only had that point because for all Baekhyun knew, under that friendly facade, Chanyeol could be a psychotic, hair cutting serial killer. After all, no one would suspect it- the friendliest people could always turn out to be the most dangerous. Although, looking at Chanyeol's eye twitch and wide grin, Baekhyun was beginning to seriously doubt this theory. Hence, the tall man only merited a 1 threat-wise.
"It has benefits that you wouldn't believe..." Lay says, thoughtfully.
"A hair stylist, huh?" He says, turning to Chanyeol. "You could definitely do Baekhyun's hair, and possibly make him prettier than he already is."
Lay mentally clamps a hand over his mouth as soon as he's spoken. He'd better not speak his mind. Besides, Baekhyun seemed a little too suspicious, and he didn't seem to be the same person that he had been in Freshman Year.
"Being a paramedic sounds really hard." Chanyeol said thoughtfully. He glanced over at Baekhyun as they arrived at the ramen place, "What about you, Baekhyun?
"A paramedic huh?" Baekhyun repeats thoughtfully. "That'd be an interesting job wouldn't it? Saving lives and whatnot." So Lay probably wasn't a part of Baekhyun's world- saving lives was the last thing Baekhyun's kind did. A small smile twitched at the corner of his lips at the irony, here they were, walking side by side. One among them saving lives, and the other destroying them. Then again, ruling the idea of Lay being involved in criminal activities would be unwise. Besides, Baekhyun had the slight feeling that Lay was holding back- everyone has their secrets, he thought darkly. He would know that the best. After all, his life depended on him keeping secrets, and being one as well.
Chanyeol looks back and forth between the two who were both talking to him at the same time. "I know that's in China. But that's pretty awesome!" Chanyeol had no clue that was in China and it was pretty obvious he was bad at lying. He looks at Baekhyun and his head wondering how to reply. Something about how Baekhyun asked him made him nervous. "I'm a hair stylist so if you ever need your hair done come to me. I'd love to work with your hair, it's so pretty Baekhyun!" Chanyeol gave him another grin.
"First of all, I'm from Changsha," Lay smirks. "That's in China." he says, almost teasingly. He can feel his seemingly cheery self disappearing along with the daylight. "And Baekhyun, I already told you that I'm a paramedic." he says. He almost adds a sarcastic comment at the end of his answer, but he holds back. They wouldn't expect that from him.
"So," Baekhyun began, his hands in his pockets. "I never got around to asking you guys, what do you do for a living?" It was a harmless enough question. Baekhyun's tone was casual, but there was a hint of something else underlying it. He was curious as to whether they were ... his kind, so to speak. He highly doubted Chanyeol would be involved in anything criminal and Lay seemed a bit too nice and naive, but from his experience, Baekhyun learned that looks could be very deceiving.
The market was always so busy and sometimes Chanyeol felt so awkward seeing as he usually towered over everyone but while talking with Lay and Baekhyun he forgot about his awkwardness. "So," he questioned Lay seeing as he was right beside him, "I detect a slight accent. Where are you originally from? Uh, not trying to be rude or anything!" Chanyeol wondered if he was being to forward but quickly dismissed the thought seeing as he couldn't take back his words now.
As the three men walked down the seemingly quiet market, Lay glances at his watch. He knows he will have to get going soon. Maybe he could just disappear into the darkness. He was good at that.
Night has begun to fall in Seoul, and the Town Market was more or less deserted, with the occasional passerby. But Baekhyun didn't mind. He liked the night, and the silence better anyways; it was where he belonged. Under the sun's rays, Baekhyun felt too exposed, too vulnerable. Now normally, he'd be wandering the streets alone, except apparently, this would not be the case. He wasn't even sure why he agreed to this, as he eyeballed Chanyeol and Lay trailing slightly behind him.
